The power of having to use a dongle for every interface other than USB C

Its much deeper than specs! The specs don't tell the full story, and in a good way. It'll be MUCH better. Imagine having a GPU that can address 64 GB of ram and at the same time, not having to copy anything from the CPU or to the CPU! All in a laptop. People don't mention this, but the performance will stay the same regardless of being plugged in or not. Laptops are supposed to be mobile, so not having to do that is really important.

There's 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, one SD card slot, an HDMI port, Magsafe 3, and a headphone jack. All it doesn't have is USB-A, but if that meant removing the other ports, (likely because of the die) then I'm fine with this.

Do you realize HOW MANY DEVICES USE USB A.

External Floppy drives, External DVD drives, the mass of USB hubs that use USB-A. All the USB mice, USB Drives. The cable most phones come with, and MUCH MUCH more. Oh and also, just regular multi use cables that are A to C. Oh not to mention USB keyboards as well.

How many USB-A ports do you want and what ports do you think should be on the MacBook Pros? I'll reserve judgement until I hear your thoughts.

I need ALL the USB-A ports I can GET. Most of my electronics either have Micro-USB, or USB A, or both. The only USB C device I have? My phone, thats it.

Well, how many do you think you'll be using at most at a single time?

Minimum is 2, one for an external mouse. Other for any other devices or USB drives. 3-4 preferred.
At times i'll prefer my external keyboard on a laptop. Using both USB-A ports.

Even then with both USB-A ports there's still that jet engine fan all laptops have. I prefer PC generally over all laptops, silence… no Insert Jet Engine Noises Here

That's fair if it doesn't work for you! I'd just get a hub at that point, I don't think there's many devices (or any) with 3-4 USB-A ports. There's probably devices with 2 USB-A ports though. Although, I'd like you to tell me what ports you think the new MacBook Pro should have.

also, apple silicon has very quiet fans

I don't plan on getting one. I'm mainly here to prove apple fans wrong. Dongles are E-Waste, bad bad. Bad for the environment. Chargers die fast, bad for the environment. Cool box tho, all cardboard. Most new boxes are lacking the stickers tho. Wait wot! No included charging brick? You use a proprietary charger right? :0 Alright, I'll admit. A removable cable on the chargers IS nice.

Well technically people still use all types of ports, generally on an older device if it's a port that's not put on computers anymore.

I have an abundance of USB-A charging bricks. I live that life

it was a hypothetical question. I don't understand how there's few ports… SOME people don't use them, but a lot of people DO! That's more important for the environment too as you ship less dongles. Chargers die fast? No…? It's MagSafe and redesigned.

I think dongles are OK most of the time (especially on a desktop) unless someone is traveling with a laptop and they need more connectivity. The connectivity on the new MacBook Pro is really good! If they added more io, there would need to be more bandwidth and controllers. Leading to more waste.

Apple fans prefer 5x the performance at 3x the battery life over a second screen on a foldable laptop with two hinges, so bye Intel!

Context - The Intel Ad

Bezel VS Notch?

I prefer the notch.

So, they did show a high-end laptop on there. It has a very high wattage laptop RTX 3080, the M1 Max can't beat it, but it's close and using 100 WATTS less power!

I sure want a foldable screen with two screens that “looks like a piece of artwork”!!!!?!??!!!!!

Notch, yeah. The way they implemented it is brilliant.

Likely not every i9 that Intel has, but yes.

Don't forget that even the 165 watt high-end laptop RTX 3080 collapses when unplugged!

Yeah. Glad they kept those thunderbolt/USB ports though, they're much more useful now!
