This is what I was referring to… I said the 165 watt laptop RTX 3080. The one M1 Max can beat is a very low-end 105 watt one. I use my laptop unplugged 99% of the time and both of these laptops collapse when unplugged lol. Not the MacBook Pro!

Anyways, don't trust their graphs TOO much. Don't know what benchmark they're using.

Seems like the Razer Blade 15 Advanced (RZ09-0409CE53-R3U1) and MSI GE76 Raider (11UH-053) both have a 3080 (maybe graphics memory is different?) but the MSI has an i9-11980HK @2.6GHz whereas the Razer only has a i9-11900H @2.5GHz, so maybe the “K” or the extra GPU memory makes it faster than the M1 Max.

True, in the 25th footnote on this page it says
Performance measured using select industry‑standard benchmarks

So we can't confirm anything yet.

I told you, it's higher wattage. Also that k is for the cpu lol

ik that - maybe it would've made a tiny difference? lol

It's mostly wattage…

Probably - since even the graphics memory is same on both (16) but nowhere close to 64 - but again, CPU will be sharing it. So if the CPU uses about 20 GB ram the GPU still has 16

Forget that! They don't even need to FREAKING COPY THE DATA! There's a lot of ram so this will be much better!

I think that a lot of the time the GPU will have access to more memory than the RTX 3090. Not to mention not copying and memory bandwidth/copying latency. (in some tasks m1 max will be faster than even rtx 3090 but not all)

Is Unified 64GB LPDDR5 at 200GBPS the best memory ever in a laptop?

The most amount of RAM? No. It is unified memory and LPDDR5 though! It's not a new concept, although it's much more helpful here. (and LPDDR5 or 5x!)

I have more on the bandwidth here.

I prefer the notch.
I sure want a foldable screen with two screens that “looks like a piece of artwork”!!!!?!??!!!!!

Notch, yeah. The way they implemented it is brilliant.
I think MacOS is probably the best OS for a MacBook with a notch — the top middle of the screen is pretty much empty.

This is my signature, it appears below all of my posts.

Yes! More screen real estate

Wait, laptop with a notch? I do not approve of such insanity.

… Except the fact that the extra 74 pixels allow the menu bar to move up, add a webcam, give it thinner bezels, and more screen.

So M1X (yes I'm still calling it that) Geekbench benchmarks show scores and the CPU performance of M1X is anywhere from 11,500 to 13,000 multicore.

Pretty impressive considering the MASSIVE memory and bandwidth improvements they made. The improvements over M1 (which is anywhere from 50% to 70% better in Geekbench.) will be much higher than that due to the huge improvements of M1X! We can expect the embargo times for videos to lift next Monday.

In raw benchmarks, I think Apple's graph claims are wrong; M1X gets an OpenCL score of about ~60,000 on Geekbench! It's a 24 core GPU model. That means it's scaled perfectly up from M1. So the 32 core GPU would be about ~80,000. The “compact pro laptop” they compared against gets an OpenCL score of about ~110,000. And the compact pro laptop seems to be on battery, without it, the score would plummet. The battery thing is the same on the high-end laptop, but it gets about ~120,000 in OpenCL.

So no, in raw benchmarks, M1X doesn't beat the 105 watt RTX 3080 Mobile. In most real world tasks, the Max will win though.

Impressive performance, especially when it doesn't need to be plugged in to get it!

The GPU performance is better than the Radeon Pro W5700X in the Mac Pro!
