Especially in scratch. You can't have local variables, so all the functions in that recursive tree have to share the same ones.

I made a recursive maze generator in scratch recently, it was a real pain. Tried the same thing in microsoft java and I was done in 20 minutes.

Besides, there's no point in blindly following rules. That rule exists to stop people from, and I quote, “disrupting the service”.
Cloudcoding's project does not disrupt the service.

I assure you, if the project was actually against the rules, the scratch team would've taken it down by now.
