One correction:
The comics were promo material for the game, meaning they came out before (EDIT: Just to elaborate, the first comic came out October 12, 2017, while the main game came out November 7, 2017).

Anyways, even though you could take them out and nothing would change, a staff member has still confirmed these to be canon (my source from 1:59 to about 2:30). They are recognized by the both the dev team and fans as canon. Plus you probably could argue that the events of the comics influenced the events of the main game. Even if they didn't they don't really contradict anything to my knowledge and, well, they still happened no matter how insignificant they are.

i must admit… while researching about that famous phrase that says something like “everything is canon” for the one line above that was supposed to be a whole paragraph of argument… in my research i found out about the canon unification… and i admit that i hate the concept with all my soul, heart and body. why did any person with the psicological and mental capability to rise up to an influential position would in their right mind aprove this? anyone else realises of how all the work and theorising of many ppl is thrown to the bin not because they were nesecerily wrong but because sega chose to basically throw everything out of the window and say TEXTUALLY “everything is canon”? i was going to make a joke out of this… i cant now, sega ruined my joke making the joke real! i-i… i mean… why? we were so close to filling the holes they left after forces, my-my… THE CLASSIC SONIC PARALEL TIMELINE is GONE… i…

Well, just because it's canon doesn't mean that it's all in the same timeline. Sonic is implied to have a multiverse since Mania Sonic is said to be from an alternate dimension rather than the past in Forces. So maybe your timeline isn't completely out the window, you'll just need to tweak it at most. If you thought a piece of media was non-canon you can just put it in another timeline.

Also, I like how you admitted you were wrong, considering how this fanbase can get.

Huh, I knew about Riders being canon from that one Egg Memo but not Prime. I'll look into that.
(EDIT: Well, I looked them up, I don't really see the problem with Riders being canon since there's nothing too conflicting, there are some problems with Prime however. Best case scenario, they'll correct the continuity errors later, but for now I don't know what to say.)
