Q/A Regarding the Suggestions Category & Reasons Why Some Suggestions Got Rejected

This topic has many questions and answers regarding the suggestions category & reasons why some suggestions got rejected. I am sorry if any information is out of date or incorrect. I will be adding more questions and answers soon. If you have any question not mentioned here, please feel free to ask me.
  • Why does not the Scratch Team take suggestions which are supported by many people and are not rejected?
This kind of question is often asked by Scratchers who are new to this category. Many suggestions are posted here every day. The Scratch Team cannot add all of them. This category is only for telling the Scratch Team what you want.
  • Why are duplicates closed?
Writing a topic takes time, but they get closed by the Scratch Team if they are duplicates to keep the conversation focused in one place.
  • Can I suggest a rejected suggestion?
Yes, you can suggest a rejected suggestion if you don't suggest exactly how it was suggested before, and make sure it does not go with what the Scratch Team mentioned as the reason for rejecting.
  • Are duplicates rejected suggestions?
Well, even though duplicates are closed, they are not rejected.
  • Why are there so many posts by moderators here?
Moderators from the Scratch Team are busy viewing the suggestions. Their job is to make sure that the suggestions are not inappropriate and to delete the duplicates. Also, they are in charge of rejecting the suggestions, too.
  • How do I know if my suggestion got rejected?
If your suggestion becomes rejected, a moderator will leave a reply on your topic with the reason why they are rejecting it and close the topic.
  • Will I face any ban or block if my suggestion gets rejected?
Well, usually, no. But if there was something really offensive or something like a threat in your post in your topic, you may get blocked(or banned for a threat). Don't decide not to post your suggestion in the fear though! You just have to remain good and polite.
  • Is the topic "How to give helpful suggestions about Scratch: Scratch Design Goals" out of date?
Well, technically, no, it still has useful information. It was only closed because people were using that topic to post their suggestions. However, since the former Scratch Team member Lightnin left Scratch, nobody looks after that now. But it may get changed by moderators if needed.
  • Why are there so many off-category topics here in the last pages of this category?
This category is one of the oldest categories. There weren't this many categories the time those topics were created.
  • Should I say why I support or don't support a suggestion in my reply?
Yes, you should mention that to make sure the Scratch Team can understand why you think this is necessary.
  • Why is it necessary to say why I support or do not support a suggestion?
If you do not say why you support or do not support a suggestion, your post will not be constructive and it will come in no use for the Scratch Team. You are even allowed to necropost in this category if your post is constructive.
  • Why does the Scratch Team reject suggestions which may be able to take Scratch to a higher level and make Scratch a better platform for higher-level students?
Good question. Scratch is for people aged 8-16, and it is an introductory language. If the Scratch Team implements that kind of suggestions, Scratch will not remain how it is supposed to. It is supposed to be for children, not for adults.
  • Can rejected suggestions ever get un-rejected?
It is hard to answer. It depends on what the suggestion was. If the Scratch Team ever needs any rejected suggestion, they consult about within them; if they find that the suggestion could actually help them, they may un-reject the suggestion, and implement it.
  • Can changing usernames ever get un-rejected?
Changing usernames was rejected because it can cause moderation issues. So, probably the Scratch Team will never implement it. However, the Scratch Team may implement changing capitalization in usernames some day.
  • Is it worth suggesting to reduce the number of blocks?
It appears that sometimes people suggest reducing the number of blocks. But it is not what Scratch aims. This suggestion is already rejected. Here is what a moderator of the Scratch Team, @Paddle2see has said about this “With Scratch, we are not aiming for a minimal set of blocks. We are looking for a set of blocks that are sufficiently numerous to make programming easy - without so many that it is hard to learn.” However, if you have a good argument about removing a specific block, the Scratch Team may consider your suggestion.
  • What is more effective in case of finding duplicates, the Suggestions Directory or the search links provided in the Guide to Finding Duplicates sticky?
Well, both are good but I will recommend you using the search links provided in the Guide to Finding Duplicates sticky since the directory may not contain all suggestions.
  • Is it okay to necropost on this category?
Yes, it is okay to necropost on this category. “If you have something constructive to add to an old topic in Suggestions, or you want to bump it, that's fine. It's better than making a duplicate topic, for sure.” -Za-Chary However, your post must be constructive and contribute to the discussion(thanks to @StarStriker300 for this part).
  • Can I post in languages other than English here?
Based on how the Scratch Team responds to posts in other languages, it can be said that you should not post suggestions in other languages.
  • Is it okay to include more than one suggestions in a topic?
Usually, no. You should not include more than one suggestions in a topic. However, if you want to suggest the Scratch Team how your suggestion will be implemented, you have to include that in only one topic and that has to be considered as a part of the suggestion that topic is about.
  • Why is it not okay to say support or no support alone?(Thanks to @Super_Scratch_Bros20 for this question.)
The Scratch Team usually looks into everyone's feedback while considering what to do with a suggestion. So, if you do not include why support or do not support a suggestion, your post will not be helpful to them.
  • Can usernames be recycled?
Well, no. Username Recycling is a rejected suggestion. The Scratch Team needs to keep record of who did what and recycling usernames will cause trouble for them to do this. “We need to keep the record straight about who created what - that's one of the reasons that we don't generally like to see shared accounts either. We also think it would be confusing to the community and add extra complexity to our application. For these reasons, we are rejecting the suggestion. Thanks for taking the time to share your improvement ideas though.” -Paddle2see, https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/3704074/
  • How come the cat blocks were removed? Is the Scratch Team getting them back?
Keeping or Getting the Cat Blocks Back is a rejected suggestion. The Cat Blocks were only created for April Fools' Day and not meant to be permanent. “I know, I usually hate change, so why did I love cat blocks so much?!? But they were part of the set up just for the one day. It feels SO GOOD that people liked them so much - you never know how people will feel about things you create, and I wasn't part of making cat blocks but I know how chuffed the makers are and I get to share that chuffedness (new word?). Even if cat blocks are just for-special, I think we might see them again some day since they were a hit. ” -binnieb
  • I want to suggest the Scratch Team to add users or collaborators to work on projects with me. How can I do that?
This suggestion is rejected. And another suggestion which suggested the same thing, but in a different way was also rejected. However, you can still suggest that if you do it in a different way. Be sure to read the cause from The Official List of Rejected Suggestions sticky and the cause of rejection of the another suggestion mentioned here, https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/3931084/ .
  • Can I suggest in sticky topics or other suggestions?
No, sorry. You cannot suggest in sticky topics or other suggestions. You must open a topic to post your suggestion.
  • Why cannot I post my suggestion in sticky topics or other people's suggestions?
If you post your suggestion in someone else's suggestion, the Scratch Team probably will not look at your suggestion. It would probably not get attention from the community either. That is why, it is essential for you to open a topic for your suggestion.
  • Can the methods mentioned in the topic "Guide to Finding Duplicates" be used to find duplicates for all other categories as well?
Yes, the methods mentioned in that topic can be used for finding duplicates on all other categories as
  • What is bumping?(thanks to @Super_Scratch_Bros20 for this question)
BUMP stands for Bring Up My Post. It is something you can do to bring your post to the first page of the category your post is in in order to get people's attention.
  • How much time should I wait after bumping my topic once?
You should wait at least twenty four hours after bumping your topic once.
  • Can I post suggestions related to mass reporting?
Yes, you are allowed to post suggestions related to mass reporting. However, there is already a suggestion about restricting blocking users automatically by the system Please remember to make sure that your suggestion is different from that. And there is also a misconception that the Scratch Team members false or mass report users. Many Scratchers also lie that they were blocked by the Scratch Team without any reason. These are not true. Actually, the Scratch Team are the people who develop Scratch and moderate the website. They do not cause any harm to Scratchers. Rather they look at the reports carefully and make right decisions. They also allow you to appeal by sending an email to appeals@scratch.mit.edu.

If you have any question not mentioned here, please feel free to ask me.
    Thank you.

Good idea. Thank you. But the reason why I did not do that is that there are usually some other reasons behind something which they do not always mention.

HOWEVER, unconstructive necroposts aren't okay, even in the Suggestions forum.

You should probably add:
“What is bumping?”
"Why isn't it OK to say support or no support alone?“
”Can usernames be recycled?“”
“How come the cat blocks were removed?”

I know the answers to these questions, but these are frequently asked questions that are very repetitive. You should probably add them to avoid repetition.

Other than that, I think this looks great! This looks like it could be a new sticky!

I do not think I have to add bumping unless that starts appearing here. However, I will be adding the others. And I do not think the Scratch Team will sticky it. It is a topic I made long ago. Anyway, thank you for your feedback.
