The Official List of Rejected Suggestions

RECENTLY REJECTED SUGGESTIONS
This is a short list of suggestions that have been rejected and added to the main list most recently.

1.11 “Forever if” C block
The block below was in the Scratch 1.4 editor, and worked the same as putting an “if” block inside the existing “forever” loop. It was removed in Scratch 2.0 because many beginning Scratchers found it to be confusing. The aforementioned workaround, evidently, is simple and more intuitive.

forever if <> { } :: control
8.5 Recycle usernames
The only potential benefit to this suggestion is that Scratchers could reuse usernames. However, this is problematic in several ways. Deleting inactive accounts might mean that the user's projects get deleted, which would be extremely unfortunate should they decide to return to Scratch. Even if the account is already deleted, someone may attempt to impersonate the deleted user with the new username. In addition, there are reasons that the Scratch Team may need to refer back to the deleted account.

This includes deleting inactive accounts, and accounts that appear to have no activity at all; that is, the account has no projects shared, favorited, or followers. It also includes “name sniping” accounts. The Scratch Team sees no need to take down any accounts at this time to “reuse usernames.”
7.13 Propose your own projects to be featured
There are a few reasons why this rule is in place. For one, if users could propose their own projects, then there would be a lot more requests in the Propose Projects to be Featured studio, and it would be very difficult for curators to add them all. But also, proposing someone else's project helps to enforce that Scratch is a helpful and supportive community, as proposing someone's project to be featured is an indication that the project creator has made a good project. Lastly, this verifies that at least one other person has seen the project and agrees that it is a feature-worthy project, leading to higher-quality proposals.

If you would like your own project to be featured, keep in mind that you can actually ask someone else to propose your project for you. Be sure to practice good advertising as described in this topic, and be polite when asking, keeping in mind that they may decide not to propose it, and you should not try to force them to feature it.
2.7 Scratch for video game consoles
The Scratch Team does not have the resources to put a Scratch editor onto a video game console. This includes making a Scratch editor for Nintendo Switch, 3DS, Xbox, and Playstation consoles.

There is so many improvments to the website that have been rejected. Private messaging can allow people to talk about real life or things that could be innapropriate with out upsetting anyone. You will be able to report private messages. A block funcion is the best solution to the problem to people harassing others because its never going to be fixed and this is the best way to fix a difficult issue
Private messaging could also allow people to insult other people and ask them to meet up in real life — a huge safety issue!

Blocking someone doesn't help solve the problem because the Scratch Team won't do anything about it. If someone is harassing you, then you should report them so the Scratch Team can look into it and take the necessary actions.

I do think blocking could be useful in some form — but I agree with the Scratch Team's decision. I also don't see private messaging working on Scratch, mainly due to the safety issues.

Instead of making suggestions here, you should make a new topic about it. That way people will actually see your suggestion.

I agree with the rejection of “Remove the Location” because some people, like me, don't want where they live revealed, but they want people to know if they have relation to cool places, like me, for example, I'm not from Czech Republic, but I am part Czech.
I disagree with you, sharing your country doesn't spoil where you EXACTLY live.
But still, I feel slightly uncomfortable with that, it's just my opinion. Not everyone wants to share that.

The Official List of Rejected Suggestions

I have removed two suggestions: “Ban voice acting” and “Remove the phone number censor”.

I haven't seen many suggestions to do these things, and I felt like no one will be suggesting these any time soon. This list is generally for commonly-suggested ideas that have been rejected. So, in order to shorten the list (if only a little), I have removed them.

Removing suggestions from the list has happened before. “Text-Based Games forums” has been rejected according to @customhacker's post, but nowhere on @LionHeart70's post.

I was given permission from @Paddle2See on this (taken from his profile):

Paddle2See* wrote:

I would be fine with removing those. We want to focus on the most common suggestions - or the ones with the most complicated explanation
These ideas are still rejected — but they don't need to be on this list.

If the achievements/badges were ever added, I'd just take a moment and realize how much my computer would be chugging while processing what I would've gotten.

This is an awesome list, but I have one SUGGESTION for it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Maybe make the workarounds more specific and clearer? Or maybe link this sticky. It's up to you, I just think this could make it better.

Happy to help!

Which workarounds are you referring to? I don't think there are many.

Awesome improvements! So much more organized and structured. All I think would make it even better would be adding a little summary at the top.
Here's a little example:

Summary
1 - example
2 - other example
3 - apples
4 - etc.

1 - example

1.1 - removing apples from Scratch
[description of why this is rejected]

1.2 - adding —

2 - other example

2.1 - a bad suggestion
etc.

What do you think about it?

I love the new categorizing that you did! One thing that could be nice, though, if at the beginning of each new section, maybe you could underline the text and/or make it colorful so people don't get confused. There is so much bold text that it gets kind of hard to distinguish between each rejected suggestion, and the categories.

Edit: Fixed a typo.

Suggestions leading to rejected suggestions (such as inviting users to work together on projects leading to private messaging) seem to be also rejected. But your topic does not seem to state this?

I looked at the “moderating minimods” thing, and it does not seem to be rejected. Paddle2See said it is best to just report instead of minimodding. god it freaks me out to see that intimidating smile on the minimod posts Although Paddle also said it is okay to link duplicate topics. But calling someone out, e.g. for saying a bad word, and saying you reported them, is apparently not preferred.

wait a second does this count as minimodding. i guess not, i didnt put that creepy smile.

And, at the very least, I would discourage others from telling people that they have “blockspammed” in the forums. If it really is spam, just use the Report button and move on.To any forum helper / mini-mod who reads this, when you come across a necropost, I'd suggest doing nothing and instead maybe reporting the topic. If there doesn't appear to be a need for the topic to remain open, ask for it to be closed within the report.I suggest that, instead of trying to respond to these users asking them not to necropost, that you just use the Report button and ask us to take it down due to spam.

Adding users to work on projects is rejected, though — see #2.1.

When a Scratch Team member closes a topic with an explanation, I take that to mean it's rejected. If it were not rejected, the topic would not have been closed by a Scratch Team member. Regardless, this suggestion was added by the previous owners of this list — simply because it was rejected.

It's likely safe to say that if someone's suggestion will obviously lead to private messaging, then it is rejected.

However, not all such suggestions deserve to go on this list. If someone gives a suggestion that isn't on this list, and it just so happens to lead to private messaging, we can discuss how to remove the “private messaging” part in order to make it a good suggestion.

You do have a good point, though. What do you suggest I add, something like this at the top of the list?
In addition to the suggestions in this list, any suggestions leading to rejected suggestions are also rejected.

Some devices have more trouble than others for registering clones. The fact that clones don't work for you is all the more reason this suggestion is rejected.
