It's generally a good idea to explain why you support this.

Anyway, I give this 75% support.
Reasons for:

People can use this to express themselves more than just through profile photos.

All the other reasons that other people have stated earlier.

Reasons against:

People could put inappropriate things on their wallpaper. I'm not to worried about that because that can be reported by reporting the wallpaper when reporting the user.

People with sensitive eyes might not be able to handle certain images like GIF files or images with many different bright colors.

I don't think gif will be best for the profile wallpaper.
Just maybe PNG, TIFF, BMP. Any Image file than Gif and it will look bad quality as the wallpaper

i have noticed that the profiles often have the same old colors:black, white, blue, gray, and so on! but what if profiles could be CUSTOMIZED!
ex: a small picture library which you can select from for a backdrop, a programmable window which would allow you to program straight from your profile, make games in a small window that would allow other users to play it but stay on your profile. custom follow buttons that come in a variety of themes, and a mini forum page that they could use in their profiles! including educational things like:
you get to program small multiplayer games on your profile,
a thing that allows you to make a pie chart,
and access to scratch training videos, from beginner to complex!
i hope you add it as a feature!

I don't know why it's ridiculous that you can't customize your profile. I don't see why this should be hated.

Profiles look boring and bland, so I think it's necessary to customize them so that we can feel more comfortable. Heck I don't want to keep living with white or blue.

one of the main things that would be nice is more charecters in the about me/what im working on, because you have MORE CHARECTERS IN ONE COMMENT THAN BOTH COMBINED!
