The Lego Movie
One thing I noticed was that some parts were at the low, “stopmotion” framerate, and other parts were a lot smoother (esp. the parts with the pirate dude) I wonder why…?
Anyway, it was a pretty good movie.

From what I saw in the credit, some parts were stopmotion, and other part had a bit of a computer enhancement. I guess some parts couldn't be done using pure stopmotion? I saw the movie today. It was really interesting and creative. I liked Princess Unikitty. She was quite eccentric. The movie itself was hysterical! I kept giggling all the way through it. One part I found particularly memorable was when Emmet saw Wyldstyle for the first time and got stuck going “uuuuhhhh…”

i loved all the references. i especially love that old wizard guy!
“I didn't get to finish what i told you…because i died.”
it was so blatantly obvious that it was hilarious.
I also liked will arnett doing the batman voice. he was perfect for it xD
My mom saw it as well, and all she did afterwards was sing the everything is awesome song…oh god.

Anyway, I thought the movie got surprisingly dramatic a few times.

I heard that the movie is entirely digital, and that parts with low framerate were done deliberately because it was intended to be stylistic. From what I saw in the credit, some parts were stopmotion, and other part had a bit of a computer enhancement. The Lego Movie
I watched the film and it was ok. Not amazing, but not terrible. The style is cool, and I like how many references it makes to past Lego blocks. Thats the problem though, it does it so many times that it feels like a 2 hour long commercial, and it has mixed messages. Right from the start you can tell that the film is about individualism and commercialism - but then near the end everyone is told to build stuff out of… Lego. You know, that brand that has been shamelessly plugged into a film that has an anti-commercialism message. What? Whats worse is that they're releasing Lego sets for the film. The characters have little to no character devolpment (they must've put all their resources into Wildstyle's geneic backstory). Unikitty proves to us that anger is good and Emmet proves that you have to save the whole of space and time to have friends. However, I loved the subplot that the whole story had been made up by a kid (explains so much) and his dad (also known as Lord/President Business) wanted to stop him from messing his set up by glueing everything together. Heartwarming. However, it's just another toy tie-in that wants to make Lego exciting and new after 100 years. But, it has some potential! If you want to make a toy tie-in, try not to give it an anti-commercialism message.

The Lego Movie
While I think this is a good review, I have to admit that I can't agree with it 100%. I agree that the film had a moral of individualism, but I didn't see any anti-commercialism messages. I felt that the main message of the movie was that you don't have to go by the instructions all the time, though by the end, that message did come across as a little preachy, but it's a good message nonetheless. I think it's probably true that the movie did lack character development. The only characters I really felt developed much were Wyldstyle, President Business, and Bad Cop. I don't agree with what you said about Unikitty and Emmet, though. Unikitty was desperate by the end of the movie and realized that her help would be needed. Emmet did have friends at the start at the start of the movie, albeit not real friends. I watched the film and it was ok. Not amazing, but not terrible. The style is cool, and I like how many references it makes to past Lego blocks. Overall, it was a good movie. But like anything, when you get down it, it has its weak points.

Personally I see the theme as thinking creatively instead of anti-commericalism. The dad/Lord Business wants a world where everything is following the instructions and just as planned, while the kid/the Master Builders want a world where people can be creative. Gluing the world together is Business' way of stopping creativity and making sure everything stays in place. I watched the film and it was ok. Not amazing, but not terrible. I do agree that the movie is basicly a two hour commerical for Lego (look how close this commerical is to the ending), but at least it's a really good commerical for Lego.

Well, considering I want to go buy Legos now, I'd say it was a pretty great 90 minute commercial.

Yeah. You don't see genuine brain freezes in movies much anymore.
(Also, who else noticed Bad Cop always kicked a chair around whenever he got mad? I sure did.)

It was awesome.
“Hi Fluffy, Fluffy Junior, Fluffy Senior… Jeff.”
“You OK Planty?”
Best film I've seen EVER.
But my friend was like this this morning:
“DON'T SING IT.”
Me: “Everything is awesome!”
Both:
But I am a DUPLO alien from the Planet Duplo!
jk.
