if you have phone jacks in your house and a 56k modem, you can get internet, albeit very slow. Our house is from the 1970s and has about 5 phone jacks. If you have a little money to buy a 56k modem, (maybe 10 usd, 20 cad,) a active landline phone service, and some ethernet and phone cables, you can get internet about ~roughly 5 mgbs a sec, good enough for Scratch.
