Once they're ready for consumer use they'll probably be cheaper. They're still in beta and are producing these in small scale. By the time they get these into a place where they can mass-produce, the price will go down, probably about where cell phones are today off-contract. Especially if they respond to some concerns, such as removing the camera, they could possibly bring costs down even further.

Hey now, I think we're blowing things a bit out of proportion. It's a small, transparent screen in the corner of one of your eyes, and both your hands can still be on the wheel. People do things more dangerous than that in their cars every day. Talking and driving isn't especially dangerous.
