Final of Puyo Puyo (Megadrive rearrangement)

I originally created this because I wanted to redo the drums to be more like the DrRMBM arrangement of it, but the best MIDI of the song I could find online was this. I figured that I may as well spend a few hours making a proper transcription of it.

Of course it's not perfect, I just made it this morning, but I tried to recreate it as faithfully as possible, while still being within the limitations of the Megadrive's sound chips. I was able to make a few improvements though, such as the new drum tracks and a better stereo effect for the guitar than the original. Anyways, if Beepbox supported samples, I would input the drum samples straight from the DrRMBM version, but they're the best recreation I could make. Also the tempo is somewhere in-between the original's and DrRMBM version.

It was also really educational for me transcribing this, because heavy rock isn't a genre that I've composed in before. Seeing how all of the parts were arranged gave me a bit of an understanding of it. Though I used more channels than the original (6 FM, 0 PSG, 0 DAC vs 5 FM, 1 PSG, 1 DAC) to do the drums, it was interesting to see how the composers made it sound so heavy with so few channels!

Credit to carpathia808's oscilloscope deconstruction for helping me find the individual parts!

Nice! Just a tip: you can change the scale by clicking on “easy

”. The default is major pentatonic, but “normal

” is major, “normal: (” is minor and “expert” is chromatic.
