There are probably some good alternatives like Kano, althlugh some of it is aimed at younger kids.

Watching the video, I see that they keep pointing at “Hong Kong and Taiwan are not listed as merged into China”, so maybe we may have to do a few things to unban scratch.

To answer the OP's question, yes, there should be an announcement regarding this.

The problem goes beyond that. They also pointed at a project where there was a map of China with no Taiwan.

that's the community though, I think the only thing they found wrong with the Scratch software itself was that.

There used to be a way to register through the 2.0 register page in 3.0, but the ST has since patched it. Thus, I can't screenshot what that page looked like.
