Theory: Mario punching the air while he jumps makes him jump higher
In Donkey Kong, Mario does not raise his hand while jumping, and he can only jump less than his height and dies when he falls a short distance. But in Mario Bros., Mario raises his hand while jumping and he can jump much higher and can fall any distance. This continues to every subsequent Mario game.

Story: Mario goes to Walmart to buy something, but then BOWZER (not the same as Bowser) steals all of the products and it is up to Mario, Orange Toad, a random employee, and Nabbit to save them.
