Change the Scratch Domain
That sounds like they're using a whitelist of sites rather than a blacklist. Ask your school to add Scratch.org to the whitelist. If they ask why, cite this suggestion. my school blocks any website where it's main domain is not .edu (except google), changing this will block scratch in my school.
Ah, alright. Thanks for the clarification! Well, I’m not saying that they should keep the domain. Just that tyhey still work together
/hj is the worst tone indicator. It's confusing and ambiguous. I hate it. The point of tone indicators is to indicate tone, or the way that a piece of text should be read, but what does “half joking” mean? Do you just wake up in the morning and think “wow, I really have something I want to talk about seriously but also kinda not, IDK you decide.” It's useless. I hate it. It just provokes a deep rooted anger within me whenever I see it. People just comment /hj as if it makes any sense. It doesn't. Oh wow, it's a tone indicator that's has a relative meaning, how useful, I'll use it in every comment I post. NO. STOP IT. You're a tone indicator, you have only one job, and yet you sit there doing nothing apart angering me.
/srs
^^^ (there's more below)
This one is useful because it tells you that this signature is fully 100% serious. (/srs) Who would've thought that tone indicators needed to tell you something about the piece of text they're attached to? /s
I'm serious, I'm not even going to put multiple (/hj)s a the end of my signature as to mock the previous paragraph for not getting the point of something(like previous version of my signature). /srs

No support. Would it be easier? Yes. Is it objectively better? Probably. But I have typed in scratch.mit.edu so many times it's like my instinct /hj. Many Scratchers have their computers autocomplete o scratch.mit.edu anyway, with their projects, users, studios, and maybe even forum posts. If scratch changed to scratch.org, all that goes out the window. I could see scratch.mit.edu redirecting to scratch.org, but all of the subdomains might not be saved.

But it would just redirect. In other words: It wouldn't go out the window. But I have typed in scratch.mit.edu so many times it's like my instinct /hj. Also, please do not use the “half-joking” tone indicator (/hj), see the /hj tone indicator is worse than useless
WDYM subdomains might not be saved? You will basically never see a Scratch subdomain outside of the handful that exist. Even then: all of then could still redirect to their Scratch.org counterpart(i.e. api.scratch.mit.edu would redirect to api.scratch.org, cdn2.scratch.mit.edu would redirect to cdn2.scratch.org, etc.). I could see scratch.mit.edu redirecting to scratch.org, but all of the subdomains might not be saved.

Change the Scratch Domain
Do you have any evidence suggesting scratch and mit still work together? Correction, mit and scratch are still a lil bit related cause they work closely still.
And the blue header was more broke because they could’ve been sued for it not being accessible. Could they be sued for having a domain that’s related to their roots?
I really shouldn't have to say this, but you should definitely have sources before saying something factual like “Scratch and MIT are related, still.” I heard it somewhere, someone here definitely has a direct source but I don’t.
alright uh new response, scratch and mit dont work together literally, but MIT is scratch's roots and one of their founding partners. so .mit being there isnt an issue imo, cause its kind of like a tribute to the university that helped scratch get where they are today.

If we're going by Scratch having subdomains from founding partners, then these would all be valid domains: MIT is scratch's roots and one of their founding partners.
- scratch.lego.com
- scratch.siegelendowment.org
- scratch.nsf.gov
And, while Scratch's roots are in MIT, Scratch is(as I have seen repeatedly) a fully independent organization.
I mean… sure. But you don't need to literally use their domain to give tribute. IMO the credits given on these pages are enough: so .mit being there isnt an issue imo, cause its kind of like a tribute to the university that helped scratch get where they are today.Careers, Supporters.

Why scratch.org? Why not scratch.mit.edu? Changing this would mean nothing. Just a waste of time.

Scratch isn't part of MIT(at least not anymore). Why scratch.org? Why not scratch.mit.edu?
I know that I've forgotten at multiple points that Scratch Foundation is a separate entity. Changing this would mean nothing.

Mrow meow.(Yes, but why should the ST rely on a third party for the domain? They can easily change it, and they already own Scratch.org. It’s also much easier if they want to set up subdomains later on.)

Yes, it does WORK, but why should they rely on another organization to provide them a domain? Yes, they don’t HAVE to use their domain for tribute, but since it’s already there they don’t need to bother to remove it because it works.
Exactly, plus: I didn't even think about the subdomains bit possibly being easier. Yes, but why should the ST rely on a third party for the domain? They can easily change it, and they already own Scratch.org. It’s also much easier if they want to set up subdomains later on.

We should just change it to Scratch.Edu, because schools are suspicious of .org and may start blocking it.
Scratch isn't a college website, it's a lil educational coding sharing platform for kids. They are quite literally unable to buy scratch.edu.

https://net.educause.edu/eligibility.htmThis document allows for United States based educational institutions, university districts based in the US, and non-profit associations that's members consist of at least 75% universities. In addition: all domains registered before 2001 October 29 are allowed to keep running, as long as they continuously renew their registration.
The document also states, with no uncertainty:
not be deployed to identify any organization other than the registrant institution or organization. Intentionally deploying a .edu domain name for an institution or organization other than the registrant entity would constitute a violation of domain policy and may lead to the termination of the domain name registration.Generic names are not allowed, and .edu domain names may
This appears to imply that if Scratch does not stop using mit.edu, MIT could possibly lose their domain. Although it does not explicitly state that allowing organizations other than the registrant to use a subdomain is not allowed.
