Scratch Writing Camp Writing Sharing Thread (March 2022)

Thank you notes <33

3302 words

It’s been a year since I first joined SWC. This was my 3rd session and it was an amazing time. I first found out through Alyelle, as I am sure many others did too. I wasn’t that invested as a backup camper, but I’ve grown to really love the community. I’ve made so many friendships and have improved a lot before the end. It’s been a chaotic ride, from sane(ish) to insane. This session, I may have not written as much as some other sessions, but I feel like I’ve improved the most. It was my first session as a co-leader and it was the best experience. I have earned a reputation as the sleep enforcer and Waterfall’s rival, both of which I love and will hold onto. I’ve made so many friends during this short time and I know that they will last. I’m just genuinely grateful for this experience and everyone who has contributed along the way. I loved every bit of it from cabin planning early on to adding words that was supposedly ‘spamming’ to the people in the unofficial DSC (Dora Stanning Camp). I would love to meet you all sometime and just give you a hug.

Ugh, I loved this session so much. It was filled with laughs and cries and real emotions. I have really come a long way from just writing blank meaningless stories. I have learned so much from SWC and have learned a lot about myself and others. This has really pushed me in my leadership qualities and balancing maturity with chaoticness in the best way possible. I know that I could have never gotten an experience like this anywhere else. The big thing I feel like that sets this apart from in-person camps is that it’s entirely run by minors. Like, how cool is that? It’s run and organized by children for children. This gives us a challenge, while still being relatable with. It is easier to talk to people around your age, or even younger, as your leader. It is a bit more personalized in that way and they know how we feel and can help out. I have fallen in love with this community over the past year, sticking with me through my ups and downs. At this point, I don’t care whether we get first place or last. I know that everyone worked hard and everyone deserves a round of applause. This session has been so fun to be a part of and I am sad that I probably won’t be able to attend the next session. I may be able to sneak in as a back-up, but we’ll see.

A disclaimer before we start. I’m not the best at heart-felt notes and you all mean so so much to me.

Host, you guys are truly amazing. With a year round schedule and a camp to run, you guys do so much. Past, present, and future, all of the hosts help to shape SWC in their own way. The effort and the thought you guys put into SWC is admirable. Each of you contributes so much to the overall experience of SWC. You are all so talented and dedicated. You don’t go unnoticed and your actions have made a positive impact on so many people. I’m so grateful for each one of you. You guys are an awesome group of people.

HOST LEADER FAM, WHERE ARE YOU GUYS? You guys made my first as a co absolutely amazing. The talents and skills- This session was really chaotic! (like it should be) I loved interacting with all of you and it’s been an incredible time. We’re just a quirky bunch of kids who love to write and I am here for it. I love how close we’ve gotten and how off topic we get, with Marc Mangoson and the weirdest dreams. You’re all so creative and amazing in a chaotic, in only a SWC kind of way and it’s been an absolute pleasure working with you all.

Campers, I had an incredible time at SWC this session. All of you are part of it. Whether it was one little interaction or a long conversation about the importance of sleep, I’ve enjoyed it all. I love how people I see around know my name because of adding wars or sleep enforcing. Due to this, I have formed many new friendships with campers. I’ve loved all of the interactions and relationships I’ve made throughout this month, new or old. I know that I’ve made my mark on SWC and it was an invaluable time. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how many of you will go on to be the next group of (co)leaders!

I love all of you guys in the adding war group! You may have kept me up occasionally past 11 (at max 3 times, don’t sue me :pleading I had to refrain from laughter so many times as I know you probably all did too. I love the little community and inside jokes that have arised from this little nocturnal group. Adding words didn’t turn out to what I thought it would be, it formed into something even greater than just helping out. There are so many people spectating that I didn’t know about *including /the/ Birdi* and I hope you guys all enjoyed hehe. I certainly loved the time of getting to know all of you with this. The constant chaos, spamming, and insanity really got me connected with the odder sides of fellow leaders and I got to meet more campers. It was a time when cabin rivalry wasn’t around too much and we were all just screaming nonsense and spamming the main cabin like crazy. I loved all of it and I will miss it.

DORA STANS!!! If you do not know what I am talking about, in Waterfall’s amazing words, “HONESTLY GET UP TO DATE DORA IS OUR NEW FANDOM WE STAN DORA AND YOU ARE A DISRESPECTFUL HUMAN >:<” (#bestquoteofdoraness oh my gosh i love this quote too much., it’s the best one, fight me) And yes, we mean Dora the Explorer, don’t discriminate us for our age! We can still stan Dora! I love the chaos that we’ve created and moments when we just scream Dora and the people who are not Dora stans get so confused. Or just random campers who want to submit a daily- Just typing something as random as ‘Hola’ set this whole thing off and in the same way a simple ‘Hola’ or ‘D’ can set off a chain reaction of Dora stans. It’s the most amazing type of unexplainable chaos ever and you are all amazing Dora stans, never let anyone stop you! Lora the Explainer gives her best wishes to you all, as she discovers lore! :sparkle:

Scratch series creators and/or obsessors! You guys have motivated me so much and are a positive bubbly arson group. Having a community to just scream nonsense about lore and characters is chaos and fun! Getting feedback and unintentional motivation is always great too! I’ve gotten a lot of positive messages that really help me to keep going forward with my series and I’m glad to have friends around me for this. Honestly, you guys are all so talented and amazing and that in itself is really inspiring. I can’t wait to read what all of you guys have planned!

All of you in my word count group, I’m so proud of you all. You all wrote a lot and helped out a big amount with cabin wars aaah. I’ve loved getting to know all of you, even if it was just a little bit. Each of you are brilliant and really added to my experience this session. The personality each of you brings is so awesome and all of you are so cool! Keep writing! You are all outstanding.

HRAH Squad! Most of you are not in SWC anymore, just me, Paige, and Ara. This is what really helped me see the SWC community and the creativity that sprouts from it. The April after last year’s March session was the most invested I had ever been in anything. We all wrote so much and it’s crazy to think that we had done all of that. The jokes that have come from it are dear to my heart. I will never forget this chaotic group.

ALL OF YOU SUSSY BAKA ALIENS, I STILL REMEMBER YOU! Last session was amazing, everyone was so nice and really helped me get back into the SWC community after leaving for a bit. I really got to figure out the rest of SWC that I had missed in my first session. The leaders were amazing, obviously. This was a fun competitive group and I loved getting to know you all! You are all talented and motivating and the best aliens ever. I miss you guys so much.

Daily team. This session, you guys really did so well with it. The last weekly was such a creative idea, oh my gosh, I had a lot of fun working on it. The dailies and weeklies were so creative and I learned a lot from the workshops as well, workshop creators! The dailies and weeklies really pushed me out of my comfort zone and it helped me to try out new things. You guys are all awesome.

Okay, Birdi! You are just so responsible and mature, how? You do so much for SWC and helped shape it into what it is now. You are so amazing, talented, and dedicated, it’s mind blowingly awesome! You’re really nice and fun to talk to! You are just a great person overall and this session was so memorable. I’m glad to have gotten to know you a bit better this session. You are really invested into SWC and you are spectacular! You do your best and it really shines through amazingly. *hands popcorn*

LUNA, THE BEST SLEEP SCHEDULE SISTER AROUND! Aaah, I loved getting to know you this session. Actually, in my journal I wrote that you would be so fun to talk to, but we never really did until this session. I honestly think I was intimidated by you, which probably also adds to the ‘i think you’re older’, which is not true, by the way. I love talking to you and just being around your chaotic energy! You are so talented and awesome. I love our little ‘sibling’ banters and screaming about school. You are an irresponsible, yet responsible younger sister. We motivate each other and it’s really helped me out. We just scream chaos and it’s perfectly fine and normal. You better get sleep, younger sister by sleep schedule. You are a friend I know I can rely on. Love you!

Katie, you are just- amazing- I can’t believe all of the awesome people I didn’t know before this session. At first glance, I thought you were going to be younger or similar age (the username) but you’re older and just fun- You are a fun person to be around and to just bounce things off out. You are so smart and talented, both academically and musically (from what I’ve seen). I don’t know how you handle it all, plus an online writing camp. I know that you try your best in all that you do. Keep going, Lukatie!

Daisy! How could I not put you in here? Where do I start? It’s been the best time working with you, Gigi, and CD this session. Thank you again for choosing me. We’re so chaotic and similar, it’s crazy. I love your bright personality and you are so optimistic! We just keep each other accountable and I love having that safe space. You don’t worry too much about saying what’s on your mind and I admire that. From conversations about Buck and Jay to cabin planning, I loved it all! Also, it’s almost been a year since we /officially/ met, aaaah!

Cami! The child, who loves to stay up late… You are so fun and chaotic, yet mature- You are so strong, dealing with all that you have. I love how much we both learn from each other and our conversations. You’re always up for chaos and you have so much responsibility that you handle well for your age. I just love talking to you and rambling and keyboard smashing You are so talented and I’m glad to have met you!

Muxa, all I can say is… ARIA, HOW ARE YOU SO LUCKY PLEASE- Muxa, I do not know how you do it- Well, first, I’m glad you didn’t beat your record. Second, how do you do it, pro-procrastinator and also overwork yourself? It’s a weird balance and you don’t get burnt out that quickly- how- If you lower both scales evenly, it might be a bit better for you- You have such a fun personality and I love just vibing with you! It’s always fun just bring out Smiley Winky power onto your boss levels.

Aaah, Alba (the duckie)! It was so fun having a gHost and arsonist queen in Contemp (and a big honor~)! You are a big team player and helped out a lot during cabin wars! You radiate with positive energy. I love how you don’t hesitate to help out a confused camper or cause chaos and mischief. You are a big inspo and it was a fun time! Bow down before your arsonist~!

CD! It was so fun co-leading with you! I’ve loved getting to know you and just chatting throughout the past month or so! You’re always so chill and willing to help out. You contributed a lot to the cabin and really helped out. The mastermind behind our little cabin intro and profile picture background artist, you are amazing.

Aurora! Even though this was your first session and you were also a backup camper, you’ve done an incredible job. You wrote a lot considering and tried your best with it all! You are just a fun, bright person to be around and I really enjoyed having you in my word count group this session. You’re super motivating and all around awesome.

JESS! YOU’RE SO AMAZING, YOU WRITE A LOT, YOU SPEED WRITE LIKE CRAZY! You were a big help this session, and like Aurora, you were a backup camper. How do you write so much aaaaah! You added a lot of personality to our word count group and it was a fun time! I don’t know how you write as much as you do but you do and it’s amazing and I love adding the words.

WATERFALL! Honestly, there are so many cool people I have met this session that I’m great friends with now, but I didn’t know before. I love our chaoticness and just being able to entertain people when we’re just being weird. We fight and argue over little things that other people might not get and it’s always a fun time with you. You are an icon for all Dora stans and you will be known as the original Dora stan. We started off with chaos and now we’re just great friends, I love it :sob: I’ve laughed the most when talking to you and the amount of times we’ve surprised each other with the craziest things is unbelievable. I loved meeting you and you’re just an overall amazing person- YOU’RE SO COOL, WE STANNN!

Blush, aaah. I will never forget how much I freaked out and laughed when I butchered that ‘adding!’ comment. (I still beat Waterfall) Since then, you’ve become a part of the adding war community and a Dora stan! It’s always fun to talk to any camper about chaoticness, especially over mistakes I made. You’re a fun person to talk to and you have a bubbly, friendly personality. I’ve always admired your vector art skills from afar, I must admit. And from what I’ve heard, you helped out Horror a lot. Keep going and I know you will be able to get far.

Jade, oh my gosh. When I think of SWC, I remember my first session last year and I remember thinking that you were so cool. You were always helping out in the cabin. We didn’t know each other much then aaah. We’ve both come a long way since that time. It was a great experience getting to know you more throughout this session. You are really dedicated and spend a lot of time helping out in SWC.

Sari! We haven’t known each other for long, but you are so nice. Like once we got to talk for a bit, you made a whole fanclub for me? You are so sweet and know how to make people’s day better. It’s always fun to talk to you and just chat. I’m glad to have met you this session.

Stormi, a big thank you for making Waterfall say my favorite quote from her. “HONESTLY GET UP TO DATE DORA IS OUR NEW FANDOM WE STAN DORA AND YOU ARE A DISRESPECTFUL HUMAN >:<” And our chat about Dora was THE MOST HILARIOUS conversation ever. It totally deserved the page in the memory book. You’re a really fun person to talk to and I also remember you from my first session, when I think it was yours as well. And your writing is amazing, ugh. The whole concept of Non-fi is really cool and you and your cos’ did a great job.

Speedy, hey! Don’t know if you will read this because you usually don’t look at my projects. But, you’ve probably helped me the most throughout all of this. Our sisters don’t know everything and you’ve had to put up with me for the past 2-3 months with SWC. Thank you for the sacrifices you’ve made to help me out, even the small ones. Just one or two minutes extra on the computer is a lot. I may not always be the nicest or the most grateful sister, but I want you to know that I appreciate you. You are forced to listen to my rants about SWC, whether you know anything about what I’m talking about or not. Thanks for being here for me. I can’t think of my life with a different brother. I love you so much.

My first SWC leader ever, Cara. You have impacted me so much. My first session was an amazing experience and I loved it. If my first session hadn’t been fun, I may not have continued, but it was. The storyline may have not been the best, but from that I connected with so many others. This led me to try to inspire others as you have inspired me and many others. Thank you for an incredible first session.

There are so many more people I would love to thank and this doesn’t cover the amazingness of each and every person listed here. I may repeat the same words, but you guys are all amazing and awesome, is there a better word? Sorry if some are better than others, I’m about all out of motivation. I had to cut out a fair amount of people because there were way too many people that have helped me along this journey. So many friends that I wanted to thank that didn’t make it unfortunately. I’m sincerely sorry, because I know that I missed a lot of friends that I know wrote a thank you note for me. I can’t fit you all in here, but everyone in SWC contributes something and it’s been the best experience this session with all of you. You guys are all so talented and caring; this community is all around awesome. Don’t put yourself down for your writing or anything in life. Pick yourself back up again and I know that you can do better. If you strive for more, go for it! It’s a chance you’ll have to take and a learning experience. Who knows what would happen if you don’t do it? Best of luck to everyone.

Also fish probably live in swamps, at least one specie.

Kat - Yes Kat!!! You are so incredibly iconic and thank you for being in charge of sorting! It’s definitely incredibly hard to sort over 500 people into cabins while still having their preferences considered and you’ve done a stellar job at that! After all, it was you and the rest of the sorters that placed all of the wonderful mystery campers into our cabins so thank you for that! You’re also part of the daily team and thank you for accepting me as one of you! I feel like I really was incredibly useless as a daily team member while you on the other hand were so organized and so creative and so incredibly helpful (unlike me). Great job for everything!!!

Cettie - I honestly haven’t seen you around so much but I did see you before camp started. I could see that you were super fun and spirited creating the mangosen studio haha (may I say that your marc mangoson profile picture was :chef’s kiss: fun fact autocorrect tried to make it ‘mangoes on’ snicker snicker snicker) also your art is :chef’s kiss: and your app was super duper cool and creative and it was just such a genius approach there’s no wonder why lio chose you!

Finley - Woah woah woah first can I just take a second to appreciate how wonderfully amazing your app is?! The art is just so amazing and detailed and intricate to look at and it’s so amazingly simple (I mean that in a good way) and just so pretty! The entire thing looks like a perfect picture painted by some old artist and the way you made your app was just so professional and refreshing! And back to you, you were my first ever ever leader for ANY TYPE OF WRITING CAMP so obviously that has a special place in my heart <3 You were also incredibly mature and very hardworking and so coooool- I remember you in dystopian last session but seeing you in adventure is also amazing!!

To adventure in general:

To contemp in general:
Yes our wonderful contempt enemies, you were also amazing!!! As my former cabin, obviously I just had to make you enemies because contempt is the worst /jjjjj /lhhhhhh and thank you for all of those wonderful wars that you gave us and we lost :nothing ehe: but seriously contempt-orary is an amazing cabin with lots of contempt.

Dystopian

Faer - We did not talk that much during SWC (actually we didn’t talk at all haha) but it was seriously no surprise when your app got selected! So organized and professional, exactly reflecting you! Dystopian was a wonderful hostile neutral and seriously, the idea for dystopian is amazing! It shows just so much personality yet the theme and storyline is sooo epic and just great job!

Zai - Yes it’s the iconic polar bear. No I do not hate polar bears why would you think that? BECAUSE ZAI IS THE MOST EPICEST POLAR BEAR THERE IS AND I PURPOSELY USED BAD GRAMMAR first your app was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the idea of it was so cool and your answers were so intelligently written and seriously your answers were just so good and then, your art is absolutely amazing! The profiles pictures were so intricate and pretty and you are such a good co-leader. Petition for Zai to become a host because seriously he’s practically already one. Like you’re seriously just so hardworking and organized and you seriously act like a host. I loved having the point adding war hehe and it’s been super fun to interact with you! Also your workshop about poetry was incredibly thorough unlike mine ehe. Here’s a bowl of lasagna for being awesome:

Lily - Oh my gosh can I say that you were such an epic co for dystopian! Your app was incredibly amazing and I was also definitely considering you for co buuuut Faer got to it first but your app was incredibly creative and beautiful so a great job for that and seriously you totally deserve to be a co-leader for dystopian and even though we didn’t interact much, I hope that you enjoyed yourself as a co!

Elfie - We did not interact this session at all unfortunately but your workshop was so incredibly detailed and your writing skills are just so advanced. Your writing has so much description and such a lovely style that just makes you so iconic, it’s no wonder why you won a writing comp prize last session! In general, you’re such a cool person being the leader of poetry last session as well and I got to see you a lot! For your information, your app was incredibly creative and cool as well. Elfie the epic

To Dystopian in general:

We ourselves haven’t talked so much but your leader app was so original and cool and it’s great to see you being a leader! Definitely deserved and not surprised.

Zura - Zuuuuuraaaa I was sad to see you leave but you are always iconic nevertheless. You’ve been part of SWC since I first joined so seeing you still here is just super cool to think about! Your app was so amazingly creative and cool and being a fairy tales co suits you! I know you left and you definitely deserve a break but I hope that right now you’re resting and getting at least 8 hours of sleep for all of the hard work you’ve done ♥

Ash - I have to be honest, I never spoke to you before nor have I really seen you around at all but I do remember you as the fantasy leader last session so I know how hardworking you are and how you handled being a (co) leader spectacularly.

Ally- Your app was so amazingly aesthetic and cool I’m 100% not surprised you were picked by Sun! You took being a co-leader really good and you became an incredibly awesome co-leader!

To Fairy Tales in general:
Thank youuuu for acting as our hostile neutrals even though in reality, we were friendly. It’s a shame that we were friendly neutrals instead of allies buuuut unfortunately I ran out of room for allies so you had to be friendly neutrals. But you were wonderful friendly and hostile neutrals to have, depending on which time you’re thinking on and :totally not thinking of going for fairy tales in july ):

Scratch Writing Camp Writing Sharing Thread (March 2022)

Thank You <3
4543 words including my message in the leader forum i need sleep.

Jade: JADE YOU’RE SO INCREDIBLE you literally got up to speed on my plans in an hour and the rest of the session you’ve been nothing short of amazing. Your activity, with adding words and points, was so impressive; and the way you interacted with the campers was so engaging. you prompted a lot of people to get things done and a heap of credit for our current first place has got to go to you. i’m privileged to have you on the team to keep things steady and always be ready to lend a hand to campers who need help. i look forward to getting to know you better in the future and i hope i’ll see you next session- you have so much potential as a leader so i’ll be excited to watch where you go from here!
Blair: i know you couldn’t be quite as active as you might have hoped, but the help you provided especially at the beginning was amazing. you’ve been so kind and welcoming to the campers and i hope i’ll see you in another session- it’s no wonder zai recommended you as a co thank you for all you did for the cabin, it was truly a pleasure to have you!
Fi: I was so excited when I first got to have you as my co - and although it was difficult to figure out where to go after you had to leave, i not only ended up meeting jade and blair, but i still got to have you as a camper!! you’re a really cool person and i’m honored to know you- i hope we can talk more in the future
Birdi: oh my goodness birdi, you’re incredible. ever since illusion ave you’ve exhibited leadership qualities that few others possess; you’re organized, mature, responsible, and i should add excellent at keeping your cool in difficult situations. we haven’t talked much recently- because yknow i’m just that good at starting conversations :’) hopefully we’ll change that!! it was really fun to be basically raising our chickens together, and it’s cool that i can come to you for questions about that. i can really appreciate your sense of humor as well - Scratch Writing Swamp anyone anyway, sorry i didn’t write longer but i seem to have about twenty other notes plus campers sO </3 i absolutely would if i could! you are iconic and i aspire to be more like you ) thank you so much for all the work you have and will put in to SWC.
Kat: kat you’re a LITERAL GENIUS it’s amazing. your spreadsheet and programming skills have saved so many hours of sorting! no one (except the other co hosts of course hehe) is more deserving of your role- you handle situations with grace but you’re not afraid to put your foot down, which i really admire about you. i’ve looked up to you ever since that awesome session when you led sci-fi (and started the matching pfps trend :0) you’re an incredible person and i look forward to talking to you more hopefully D thank you for all you’ve done for SWC!
Bakie: this note is the longest every session asdjfkhj i promise i’ll keep it short :’) so anyway i know you won’t actually see this most likely, but i’ve gotta write it still! you were my first inspiration to keep coming back to SWC - your kindness toward me when i was a camper in 2020 brought me further into the social side of scratch and it’s because of you that i’ve met so many amazing people. I can’t thank you enough for choosing me as a co in july; that’s the best my cabin has ever done in the rankings (except for now hehe ) and during illusion ave - not only were you super dedicated and hardworking, but you made such gorgeous art for it. on that note your art is literally beautiful but i won’t get into that :’) in all the sessions since then you’ve led cabins where your campers have been so interested and involved. your ability to make friends out of basically anyone is amazing- people are just drawn to you :0 i know you haven’t been able to get online very much this session and so i’m assuming you may step down for july; but i really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and everyone else in SWC and i hope we can stay in contact in the future even though you’re doing a lot of stuff irl which is cool thank you so much for everything! ily very much- good luck with life <33
Sawyer: SAWYERR HI MY BRAIN IS OUT OF NEW ADJECTIVES AT THIS POINT but yes you are extremely awesome and you’re literally so smart?? ever since i first led with you in july 2020 (the nano age :0) you’ve been a really good friend to me and a role model - your maturity is extremely admirable and your problem solving skills are quite impressive. It’s been a while since we’ve legitimately talked i think but I WILL CHANGE THAT you bring your full enthusiasm to every cabin you’re in and it shows. and as a co host the amount you’ve brought to SWC is tremendous; thank you so much for dedicating so much time and effort to making things run smoothly!
Zai: HEY GIRL! (sorry i had to do that) ZAI YOU’RE SO COOL HOW that code you wrote to add up words- it was amazing and so complex? and thank you for the opportunity to help out with that, it was kinda fun D you’re so talented and i literally have not met someone more dedicated than you in my entire life. at this rate you’ll be a tyrant by july i suppose this isn’t the best place to say, but thank you for helping me during that one weekend in which i was having some issues- it really improved my mindset even though it somehow turned out fine anyway. you’re such an amazing friend and i look up to you for it! in general thank you for all the ways you’ve improved and grown SWC; your cabins have been amazing and engaging and your behind the scenes work is invaluable <33 also i forgot to say that poetry workship was literally so cool
so zai i planned to end it there but then i read your note and i feel like i should respond >
THE BACKUP SORTING ISSUES SDJLFK YES I REMEMBER THAT WAS FUNNY BUT SO PAINFUL (we need to start that petition to the hosts smh) and woW i seem to be really good at improving my games- i lost to my mom at othello badly every time i played a few months ago but now due to at least 200 games against the MathIsFun othello bot i beat her but hey maybe you’ll beat me again next time not that one round where i won eight times in a row or something though fjkdasl
Zura: you’re so fun to talk to and you’ve done an amazing job on the daily team! you’re a really cool person and i’m sorry i keep not starting conversations with you jkhafsd i will try to do better on that front </3 anywayy you’ve done an amazing job this session and hopefully i’ll see you in the next session!!
Sun: sunnn your writing is impeccable and your cabin was great! Thank you for working so hard on fairy tales; the intro story was really cool as was the general theme and the the profile pictures. And thank you for judging the writing comp- a difficult job that this camp could not function without! good luck reading all those entries, and good luck in the results
Vi: thank you for your work on the daily team, as well as your amazing workshop! i loved your work with mystery- the storyline was genius and i wish i’d followed along with it :0 i admire your dedication and the way you handled situations! hoping to see you in another session )
Luna: LUNAA LEADER OF FAN-CRY <3 the cabin rivalry this session was extremely fun and i enjoyed every bit of it. I loved watching your cabin progress - you were a great leader and it showed in the enthusiasm and willingness of your campers. and i loved your leader app as well! it’s one of the few i remember for some reason :0 i’m absolutely hoping to get to know you better in the future so i may show up on your profile to randomly say hi > thank you for working hard and leading such a successful cabin!! (also i’m excited for our pLaN )
Aria: it was great to be on the daily team with you- your cabin was incredible, yet again. I regret that I didn’t watch its progress too much, but I could see the way your campers wrote heaps of words and were constantly adding activities in the main cabin. I was extremely impressed with your cabin last november so i was excited to watch you do it again! i appreciate your contributions toward SWC and hopefully i’ll see you in a future session <3
Lio: lio! I haven’t seen very much of your cabin which i regret because your theme looked awesome :0 but i know you’ve been a great leader; your maturity and attitude are extremely admirable. i used to see you around SWC all the time but i can’t remember if you’ve led much in the past? you’re a super cool person and i’d love to talk to you more in the future! we’ve had a few conversations here and there but i feel like i don’t know you nearly enough :0
Elle: First of all thank you for your work on the memory book! you’ve done a great job helping to lead it and you absolutely deserve that spot second, awesome job on myth; the theme was great and the cabin itself just seemed so welcoming. i remember when you first joined SWC- you’ve always been so enthusiastic and kind to people! your maturity this session was exemplary and i’m excited to hopefully see you in future sessions )
Faer: faer! siblings july 2021, sorry for the betrayal </3 dystopian was really good this session and i loved the whole idea with it. I didn’t see you around very much but i’m sure you were amazing as ever. Thank you for your work in the memory book and everything you’ve contributed to SWC!
Daisy: daisyy awesome job on contemp! it’s exciting to see you leading your own cabin and doing so well with it. it was great to have you as a camper in the past so i’m sure your campers have had a lot of fun! i’m sure i’ll see you in many sessions to come
Mac: Mac i think that comment-limit argument we had is the best thing i’ve ever done xD you’re so kind and really fun to talk to- i loved the theme of hi-fi this session so i’m sorry there wasn’t as much activity as you’d hoped but it was still an awesome cabin! i still admire your work with fan-fi last session, and the way you made it work even with the difficulties you faced ^^ hopefully i’ll see you next session!
Other co/leaders: I’m sorry i didn’t write to you- i absolutely would, but time constraints and i unfortunately haven’t gotten to know you! if you want you can absolutely say hi on my profile and we can start a very long conversation about random things <3 i would love to meet you all; you seem like amazing people and your dedication was incredible. you came up with such creative themes for your cabins and carried them out well! no matter who wins, you’ve all done an amazing job i hope a lot of you will join again next session )
All co/leaders: a HUGE thank you. you’ve (i’m repeating myself at this point asjdf) created cabins in which your campers could have fun and write together and you made sure everyone had a good experience. you’re a group of some of the most hardworking, trustworthy, dedicated people i’ve ever met and i’m proud to know you <33
All campers: and what would we be without the campers? I really appreciate the way everyone stayed friendly even throughout the rivalries that we had going on - those of you who were really dedicated, thank you for doing so much around camp. to those of you who weren’t, i’m glad you’ve been prioritizing life and i hope to see you in a future session
Comp Judges: oh goodness you guys are amazing for dedicating so much time! it’s hard to fathom all those entries you have to read and the amount of brain work it takes to rank and award them. thank you so much <3
Memory Book Leads: thank you for handling this huge part of camp - it’s one of my favorite parts, because i love being able to look back on things. I’ve had a lot of fun designing pages and you’ve kept everything under control brilliantly! i’m really excited for this memory book to be shared with the campers; it’s going to be amazing D
Literally all of Fan-Fi: That rivalry was priceless. it’s definitely one of my favorite SWC experiences ever you did amazing and you all were so active; we were really neck and neck for a lot of the time! I loved getting to have little arguments about who was superior, even when the clear answer was poetry /lh see you all at the results; thank you for an amazing experience and good luck!!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE EPICS!
First of all, thank you for everything you’ve done! It’s been seriously incredible the dedication and drive y’all have and i’m honored to have been your leader this session. AND FIRST PLACE??? goes to show exactly how amazing you are crossing my fingers that we win!
I hope to see some of you next session- i can already tell that so many of you have leader qualities so i’m excited to watch where you go next <33 remember that all of you had a hand, no matter how small, in getting us this far!
whenever i try to write to everyone it ends up super impersonal, but this session I feel like i got to know you all so well that it’ll be different this time D so, onto the notes!

Abbie: I know you had the activity decline in the second half of camp but that doesn’t make you any less of an Epic. The dedication and enthusiasm you had was inspiring to your fellow campers and me as well. You worked really hard this session and i’m proud of you!! hopefully you’ll return in another session but if not, good luck with irl <33
Winter: You had a lot going on but you still managed to come online when you could to add words - I appreciate that I hope you’ll be here next session!
Mech: You didn’t come online much but I know you have a lot of schoolwork and stuff judging from all the words you added from homework jlfdskh :’) it was great to have you in the cabin again and (I think?) I’ll see you in July!
Ami: Ami, thank you so much for being so active around the cabin! It was a pleasure to have you once again and hopefully not for the last time <33 I appreciate your hard work and your willingness to help out with anything; you saved us more than once in cabin wars this session. see you in july, if you join again!!
Bea: hey bea! we haven’t spoken much and I know you haven’t been able to come online a lot but I can tell you’re a truly kind person and I hope that we’ll meet again in another session.
Clo: clo! you’re new but you just caught right on and stepped into the flow of the cabin flawlessly. your help was so important this session and I really appreciate the dedication you showed when you completed activities and map moves and cabin wars. See you next session, i hope!
Cherri: OH GOSH CHERRI where to begin! you’ve been such an amazing camper ever since your first session a year ago (contemporary march 2021 foreverrr) and it’s no surprise how well you did around the cabin, constantly helping out other epics. and all those moves on the map too - you kept the storyline moving in the right direction which the co’s and i greatly appreciate thank you so much! hopefully you’ll join in july; you would be an awesome leader :00
Addie: YOUR DEDICATION IN CABIN WARS? I had no idea someone could write so much and be online so long without getting fried. (weird word choice jklafsg) i have no idea what we would have done without you; you were like the extra co that took over whenever the americans were asleep. you basically carried the entire cabin during both cabin war days and none of us can thank you enough for that. I hope that you apply as a leader in a future session because you would be amazing!!
Night: You mostly popped in a couple times to add words, but you seem like an interesting person! maybe we can interact more in another session
Rain: rain! You were awesome to have in the cabin D i really enjoyed your personality and kindness whenever we spoke and it was nice to talk slightly more than the past even if not much </3 hopefully i’ll see you in more sessions and we can have actual conversations!!
Bebe: ayy at first you were inactive but then you came back and it was awesome i appreciate the way you were dedicated and worked hard for that last half, and you were so kind to all of the other campers. hoping to see you in SWC again
Eve: hey! you only dropped by at the beginning of camp but even from that one conversation I could tell that you’re a genuinely sweet person. I’m hoping that you rejoin in july and we can talk more D
Em: em! I think you were only here at the beginning as well- it was still great to have you in the cabin especially since i’ve seen you around scratch so much. good luck with any irl stuff, and i’ll possibly see you in a future session!
Kate: kate, it was awesome to have you. you were so dedicated and encouraging toward everyone in the cabin and that’s really important! you could definitely go on to become a leader in the future- i’ll always be cheering you on if you do hoping to see you next session!!
Izzy: oh gosh, it’s insane that i met you two years ago and now you’re in my cabin! the memories from that very first session- first for both of us i still have vivid memories of all the people there but i think you’re the only one still here! thank you for being encouraging and mature around the cabin, and for doing so many activities ) it was awesome to have you and I hope you keep joining!
Jason: you’ve been so welcoming and friendly toward everyone no matter what, which i really admire about you. thank you so much for constantly doing activities and all sorts of things to further the cabin! hopefully i’ll see you in future sessions
@-joyfulwriting-: so sorry i don’t know your nickname! you seem like a really nice person even though we never talked- it would be awesome to see you in another session
Maybe: heyy i know you weren’t able to come online much but you seem pretty cool! Hoping to get a chance to talk to you in the future
Luna: your activity towards the beginning of camp was amazing! Thank you for your dedication and drive to achieve things wherever you were able to. hopefully we’ll get to talk more in another session <3
Anna Maria: ahh i know you didn’t get a chance to be around much but i appreciate you trying, and it was nice to talk to you for a bit! hoping to see you in july
Nikki: heyy you seem like a great person! even though we got no chances to talk thank you for contributing to the cabin where you could and i hope to see you in another session!
Zena: oh my gosh you wrote so much! It’s incredible thank you so much for the amount of work you put in toward writing and writing and bringing our cabin up. hoping to get to talk to you again sometime!
Lynnie: LYNNIEEE AH we didn’t interact much this session but thank you for contributing i know I’ve said it before but this feels so full circle, having you as a co my first time and a camper now! I hope you keep joining because i need to actually talk to you at some point aljkdfs
@princessofpuns: sorry i don’t know your nickname either- i know you never showed activity, but that means you’re prioritizing life which is great! thanks for being a part of the cabin
Elara: ahh I don’t think we actually talked but you did definitely add a bunch of words and i think you helped out a lot with cabin wars - thank you so much! I hope that we can legitimately talk in another session
Fern: ahh i know that you didn’t come online much but you seem like a really really nice person so hopefully i’ll get a chance to talk to you in the future, be it another SWC or just randomly!
Ava: AVA YOUR CHAOTIC ENERGY GIVES US ALL LIFE i appreciate everything you did to motivate and encourage your fellow campers and it was literally so fun to have you in the cabin. definitely hoping to be in the same cabin as you again in the future! thank you so much for being awesome like you are D you should definitely apply as a leader!

Vi: I know you had more going on this session so you couldn’t be particularly active but we appreciate all the words that you did come online to add! like usual, it was awesome to have you in the cabin and hopefully i’ll continue to steal you as a camper <3
Veer: i know you weren’t online much but you seem nice hopefully we’ll talk in another session!
Bloom: aaa despite being a backup camper and coming in partway through camp you caught right on and contributed tons of words and activities! I really appreciate that you seem like a super nice person and i hope we can talk in the future ^^
Esther: ah we never really got to talk- sorry about that! I think you were only online around the beginning </3 it was still a pleasure to have you in the cabin and thank you for contributing a little bit during camp!!

sorry to those of you toward the end where my notes kind of trail off and reuse words over and over- i promise everything is genuine <3
I am sososo sorry if i forgot someone, but it’s late and i need to wake up at 4am aaaaa

✨ Thriller (co)Leaders ✨

Janis :: AHHHHH JANIS YOU ARE SO PHILLIPING AMAZING! I couldn’t ask for a better leader to co-lead alongside. You, Daisy, and Mac literally made my day when I woke up (at like- 5 AM cause I couldn’t sleep because having covid svcks) to you three asking me to your co. I honestly was crying tears of joy (probably not the best thing for my very sore throat). Working with you was so philliping fun. Although I don’t doubt that you got annoyed with me messaging you during your school day while I was in self-isolation haha. As for during the actual session, you reminded me that it was ok that I had to put IRL and my mental health first. You are amazing and I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for me. I may have named a stuffed animal after you…My older sister wanted to name it Leah and I wanted to name it Janis so her name is Leah Janis or LJ ahah.

Fennis the Tennis Menace :: I’m sorry, how are you so swaggy and amazing, please teach me your ways. Even though you had to leave in the middle of the session, you still made a huge impact while you were there. Your doppelganger is still creeping me out IRL haha. Much like LJ, I may have a stuffed animal kinda named after you…its name is Dennis haha. Also, are you actually good at tennis?

Electric Eel :: You were ready to step up to the challenge of filling Fenn’s shoes. Although the truth is that you didn’t fill their shoes, you made your own. You made one of holding things for ransom, being ~ e v i l ~ to the other cabins, and being just plain amazing like everyone else. ALSO, I SHALL NEVER STOP CALLING YOU ELECTRIC EEL.

✨ Active Thriller Campers ✨

Amy :: Down with Misery!!! You knew it all along and you didn’t even know it (wait- how does that work). Whether it be trying to eat Stan or giving Misery coupons to buy real swords, you were one of the most iconic of us all without a doubt. You are pure speed, just speed.

Sophie :: You are an overachiever in its truest form. I just went back to see your original word goal…it was 6,500. You completely blew that out of the water like Stan during the salmon run. You were such a delight to have in our cabin!

Speedy :: UwU supremacy

Squeak :: YOU ARE JUST LIKE- YES. I knew you were a creative mind ever since I met you last year in the Hamil-Play, thankie for being such a great camper!

Tori :: You were one the most frequent adders in my word count studio, I knew you were gonna be a great camper from the beginning!

Jojo :: You are such a delight to work with and be friendos with. I would imagine that you would be my (co)leader and I would be your camper, not the other way around haha.

✨ Suspects ✨

Birdi :: Thank you for being amazing and just, amazing. You are so awesome, there are no words to describe how amazing you are. Thankie for being an amazing host, suspect, and close acquaintance (*casually yells at self* PAIGE! DONT SOUND LIKE ALANA!). TEACH ME YOUR WAYS, YOU ARE SUCH A GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER.

Aria :: Step into ze boat. As I leave the island, I really need a reliable boat captain. Seriously, you are so amazing. Also here is your mol- totally fresh pasta sauce back from last session.

Cami :: HAMHAMHAMHAMHAM!!! Yes, that was necessary. Cami, you are a wonderful person, singer, writer, and leader! I would love to work with you on the (co)leader team again!

Vi :: Thank you for mvrdering me (that sounds so wrong–). No but seriously, the plot would not be a thing without you. Not to mention how amazing you were with your cabin!

Lukaties :: get sleep. Luna - Thankie for being a great suspect! Katie (not a suspect) - Thankie for screaming Great Comet lyrics with me.

Soki :: Wowo quality is going out the window. Ah thank you for being an amazing Varian doppelganger.

Butter :: Thankie for being a good corru- uhh totally normal business person.

Stormi :: Fish. Stan. Yes. THankie for bringing in more salmon to overcook <3.

Vivi :: GOATSSSS. I love goats, thankie for being the most insane suspect.

Sun :: Wow, you were really active in trying to actually be a suspect. Thankie for that!

Elle :: Helping to run the memory book, being a leader, being a suspect, and doing irl stuff. That is what you call dedication.

Maia :: Did you know I came up with your role while watching Newsies. I know, so unexpected! But thankie for everything.

Eva :: You were not just a great suspect, you are a great friend. You stick with me even when I am really moody or if I feel like I am just not enough. YOu really decided to make a whole arch for Evelyn too which is amazing! Also, uwu supremacy.

Zai :: *dumps lasagna* Thanks for being so iconic and just, Zai! You are amazing, hope you had a good session.

✨ Other ✨

Skylar :: Sorry about SSC. I hope you had a good SWC session though!

Frog and Ara :: AHH YOU ARE SO FUN TO ROLEPLAY WITH! I hope to roleplay with you agian!

Honey/Sawyer :: AHH YOU ARE LIKE PROBABLY REALLY FRUSTRATED WITH ME but thank you for answering all my questions .

Kat and Bakie :: Thanks for being such an amazing co-host.

Mac and Daisy :: Thankie for making me cry. Mac - Ahhh you are just, amazing. Daisy - You are so cool also go to sleep school.

Lio :: *screech Lumineers music*

Alba :: Thanks for just being, Alba .

Jia :: THE CROCHET QUEEN!

Waterfall :: YES WATERFALL!

Peachii :: EEK! You were such a great sibling cabin leader!

Kiki :: Amazing singer, person, and actress. Kiki.

✨ Cabins ✨

Poetry :: I hope you tasted good <3
‘Bout it.

Thank yous

Thriller leader and cos:
In general - Thank you so much for making this session the way it was! The clues and plot were all very interesting, and always kept me waiting for the next one to help solve the mystery! Although we may not be in first, I will never forget this session.

LJ - I knew this was going to be a great month the moment I saw your message that I would be joining you in Thriller. Thank you for helping to make Thriller chaotic as heck (And somehow with so many theatre kids!). (Also *begins to sing*, I NEED TO KNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW if there may have been a few references in there? You do realize that a meteorologist is a scientist, right? A Glass Scientist, perhaps? :0)

Paige - Ayyy, another person I already knew! Although that wouldn't help much now that you're d3ad, won't it? Maybe you'll be revived now that the session's over? I hope? Anyways, thank you for the creation of Stan, even if Amy and I spammed you to make Stan Madrigal canon…. which you still haven't done. Ya know what? I'll just take this note back, then. /j

Fenn - I know I don't know you that well, but thank you for helping to make this the best (if only) session I've been in! Even if you're only an honorary member now- talk about a demotion! /hj

Stingray - Thank you for being able to step in as co when Fenn had to leave for a bit. I know I wasn't in your word count group or had many convers-ations with you, but still, thank you! (And may your vocabulary be filled with -ation words!)

Other
Everyone - Thank you for making this session chaotic and fun!

Thriller members - See above. Thank you for chaos and fun and arson and Stan and everything

Specific cabins
Poe-try hard, Badventure, and Misery: I'd thank you… if you didn't exist /hj

and now time for the end of the session?? wow okay not sure how it disappeared and i really wish i could've been more active, but life demanded my absence ~ this will also be my last session for.. hopefully awhile because i really need to focus on God, myself, my family, my friends, real life.. the list goes on and on!! scratch rightly is one of my last priorities - and i'm glad. no, not because i hate scratch. i love it!! not every aspect, but let's just say if we were rounding up.. five and up bump it up, am i right but because it's time for life. to anyone reading this, please please please try not to get too addicted to this. i know, coming from experience, that it's so darn easy but it's not worth it in the long run. swc and scratch is a blast.. but ultimately, for real, your real life is way more important!! (can i just say that is a pun i do not feel like changing up the real in real life and now there are two reals so can it be a pun now that's how it works right ) i do really want to say thank you to all my previous leaders and cos; bakie, robin, honey, robin again, lila, aspen, livia, wishes, birdi, elle, elle again, juli, and now finally eevee, gigi, and cd. these may just be names to you.. you probably know them because they're pretty :sparkles: famous :sparkles: but you guys have really been INCREDIBLE in every way imaginable :sparkles: this was a lot longer than i meant to make it WHOOPS BUT YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING TY HOSTS AND EVERYONE ELSE <3333

ahah i should really do this right i don't have time for individual notes </33

but seriously every single one of your are amazing laughs in there not being a good emoji to put here wHy scratch. i remember when the leaders first got announced, being super excited to work with every one of you. well, first i had to run around screaming like a chicken with her head cut off in the excitement of being chosen.. but then there was that, of course.
your infectious enthusiasm has been INCREDIBLE. i've co/led for, like, three or four sessions and you guys have seriously brought some of the most energy!! this is probably the most energetic team so far and it's amazing. like.. i don't think we've ever needed to bring a chat studio in place x"DD
really, i wasn't here for the latter half of the session due to some Irl School Stuff and my brain was being a big dummy and other stuff so i'm really not a good judge of how active we as a whole were but if you were active OH MY GOODNESS WE STAN <3333 and even if you weren't active, it's okayyyy and try not to beat yourself up for it because i'm sure you had your reasons
thank you so much everyoneee for everything you've done this session and helping make it amazing fabulous incredible wonderful stanful iconic ironic inside jokey and i really hope you guys continue being leaderes in the future

also does anybody want to sign my petition to make it always be 2020
at school now, i've graduated from 2020. i'm on 2021 now.

also also CONGRATS TO THE NEW HOST LET'S GOOO CONGRATS
my guess is sea robin or zai

Chapter 9
Kira
“How.” was all Kira could think as all the thoughts, guesses, and assumptions she had heard and thought came flying through her head. Probably dead. Will fight for the throne. In hiding. I hope she is safe. Not a worthy princess. And more cruel and kind words from all the villagers. How would she live with so many soldiers chasing her? That one was what she thought, how could Willow still be alive?
“You can’t tell anyone ok? Nobody can know.” Willow continued when Kira nodded. “When they killed my parents I ran South to Flicker Forest. They chased me everywhere I went. I just kept going South. Farther and farther. When I hit the river a group found me. One slashed me and King and Emerald killed the rest.”
“You’re wolves.” Kira said. “Where are they? Where is the boy in the chair?”
Willow’s eyes went huge. “How do you know about them?”
“I… I’m a shadow mage.” Kira said.
Willow narrowed her eyes. “You aren’t going to turn me in are you? Like the other traitors?”
“No! What do you mean other traitors?”
“There were men, all wearing black, when my parents were assassinated. They were mages.”
Several hours later
“Can you let me out now?” yelled a voice from the cave.
Willow winces, “Should we let him out?”
“When Link gets back.” Kira replied. She had goosebumps from the cold. The stream was damp and not helping.
“Remember, to him my name is Nataleigh.” Willow was also shivering.
“Ok and where are your wolves?” Kira asked.
“One whistle away.” Willow said grinning. “They are hunting in the forest.”
“I hope they like dogs. Olive would not be happy if he was growled at.”
Just then Link walked over trailing Onyx and Cloud. “How did it go?” Link asked.
Quickly Kira fed him the cover story. She definitely felt guilty.
“We really should let that poor villager go.” Kira said when she had finished. The sun was setting and she didn’t want him to have to walk home at night.
The three of them began the trek up the bumpy slope towards the cave.
When they reached the entrance the villager called out, “Are you going to free me yet? It’s getting late and I’m hungry.” He peered towards them, “Oh wait there are three of you. Any chance I can leave yet? Also, can I have some food?”
“Oh yah you were right, he is talkative.” Kira said. “Should we send him with some food?”
“Sure we have plenty.” Link said.
“Wait, is it seriously that easy? No imprisonment?” The boy said. “And food?” He said when Link nodded. “Wow you guys are nice compared to her.” Willow scowled as he glanced pointedly in her direction.
“I still don’t think he is a villager.” Willow said glaring.
“Why not Nataleigh?” said Link. “I mean he doesn’t look suspicious.”
“I have a name you know.” The boy said, cutting Willow off. “Please to meet you. I’m Jake.”
“It doesn’t really matter now that you're leaving.” Willow said.
“Okay, okay. Sheesh, you have quite the temper.” Jake said. “I mean you have only said bad things to me.”
Willow glared. “Just because we can let you go doesn’t mean we have to.” Willow snapped.
“Woah calm down you two. No need to fight.” Kira said. “Nateliegh, you need to calm yourself.” Link said.
“You're siding with him.” Willow snapped. “You just met him!”
“Yah well I just met you.” Link said. “And he is acting a lot more trustworthy.”
Willow glared at him and said, “You are an idiot.”
Soon they were both trading insults. Which escalated to fighting. “ENOUGH!” Kira yelled. She had succeeded in getting Jake out and was pulling the two bickering teens apart. “We don’t need any more problems than we already have.”
“Yah. Aren’t you supposed to be like a gang?” Jake added.
“We aren’t a “gang” and you haven’t exactly helped.” Kira told him.
“Well it’s not my fault she tied me up!” Jake said, looking at Willow.
“Just be quiet.” Kira said with a sigh.
Jake stopped talking with only a few mutters about bossy girls.
“Ok, Jake you should go down to the stream and get a drink. We will decide what to do.” Kira said.
“What are we going to do?” asked Link as soon as Jake was gone. “He certainly doesn’t seem like a vicious soldier.”
“Evil comes under many disguises.” Willow muttered under her breath.
“Not really sure what that means but ok.” Link said with a shrug.
“I have no clue,” said Kira with a sigh, “Maybe we should-” Crackkk. Everyone paused. “What was that?” Kira whispered.
Everyone looked at each other. “Lighting?” asked Link quietly.
Kira looked at Willow. Willow’s face had a different kind of fear on it. She looked as if there was something out there worse than soldiers.
“Wil-Nataleigh, what is it?” Kira asked. She had almost slipped.
“Nothing.” Willow said sharply. “We need to leave. Now.”
“What about all this stuff?” Kira asked.
“Grab as much as you can. I need to find my wolves.” Willow said and raced out the opening.
Kira sighed and began gathering baskets. She had liked her cave a lot. It had given her safety and a home for a long time. Link and Kira each filled 3 baskets with food, rope, blankets, clothes, and supplies. When they were done Kira raced out the cave, hopped on Cloud and grabbed a pouch of coins. Willow was nowhere in sight.
“I’ll be right back.” she yelled to Link as she rode off toward the village.
When Kira reached the village she headed straight to the blacksmith's house. She knew that after this she would never be allowed to trade in the village again but she still needed to do it. Kira snuck around the back of the house and quietly pulled the wagon out from it’s shed. After securing Cloud to the wagon, Kira slipped back into the shed and put the pile of coins on the counter.
“Ok Cloud, let’s go.” she whispered. Cloud started at a walk and sped up to a trott. The wagon didn’t slow him down in the slightest and soon they had reached the cave.
“How did you get that?” Willow asked from the entrance. She had found her wolves.
“I borrowed it. But I left some money. And I will return it. Someday.” Kira told her. She clearly was guilty.
“Good. Soon we will be out of here and into that forest.” Willow replied, oblivious to Kira’s guilt.
“Where did Link go?” Kira asked. Her eyes darted from the cave entrance to the back. Willow peered into a cave. Shaking her head. Neither could find him.
As if Link had heard them, he walked into the cave with the bo-with Jake.
“There you are! That scared me, we couldn't find you.” Kira said to Link.
“I’m fine.” Link said. “I just needed to get him in before we left. Unless we want to leave him behind.”
“No!” For some reason Kira was sure this boy was important. Everyone else was looking at her weird though. “He could tell someone.” She pointed that out and suddenly it made so much sense to them.
“We need to leave immediately.” Willow was always so practical.
“But-” Kira started to protest and then stopped herself. She knew very well the dangers of staying here and getting caught. It just felt… hard to leave her only home left. Kira would miss the pine trees and the smell of fresh mountain air.
But she had to. And with that thought she raced over to Cloud and hopped on. “Link, you ride Onyx and Willow, I mean Nataliegh, you ride in the wagon.”
“What about me!” It was Jake. He was standing off to the side looking confused. “And where are we going?”
“One, you're in the wagon, and two, if we knew we would tell you. Can you and Nataliegh get your pets too? I need to grab one last thing.” Kira turned and ran inside the cave. She scrambled over to the waterfall and stuck a hand inside. After a few seconds of fumbling around, she managed to grab hold of the smooth stone. Kira pulled her arm out and shoved it into her satchel.
“Olive! Come on!” Kira grabbed Olive under her arm and raced back to the wagon. She shoved Olive into the wagon beside Jake. “Don’t let him fall off!” She told him before hopping up on Cloud. Kira looked over at Link on Onyx and took off.
They were on their way.

Chapter 10
Jake
They had been on the road for days. Fifteen to be exact. And the others had started to warm up to him. Well most of them had. The girl, Nataliegh they called her, still didn’t like him. There was something fishy about her. And Kira kept almost calling her something that started with W. It was… mysterious. Very mysterious all right.
After a few days they had started to treat him better. They talked to him and asked him a few questions that didn’t start with “Are you going to kill us?” Much better. And Kira was nicer to him than the others. She said that she had a good gut feeling about him when he asked why.
“Why are you staring at the same spot? It's weird.” It was Nataliegh. She kept getting after him for doing “Absolutely nothing with a point” Quote, unquote.
“I don’t exactly have anything else to do, so I? If you have a game for me to play I will gladly take a break.” Jake knew his remark was going to get him a glare or something along those lines. But it was fun.
“I would take a game too!” yelled Link from off to the side.
“I wouldn’t mind one!” Kira too?!? Maybe they would get a game. It seemed that she was incharge.
“We couldn’t stop even if we wanted to. The soldiers have been on our trail for far too long to risk stopping at all.” There we go. Hopes squashed.
“But we can’t have Cloud going for so long…” Kira had a good point but Jake was going to take a chance.
“Why are there a bunch of people chasing you? I mean that isn’t exactly the norm.” Well it is for me. And anyone else on my side.
“We don’t know,” Kira said. “But we don’t want to get caught. They probably ran out of slaves. Or they found that we owned “weapons” I don’t know.”
“Do you own weapons?” Jake was curious. Most people don’t have weapons around here.
“Why do you care?” Willow inquired with a suspicious look.

The Social Hierarchy of a Sixth Grade Class

Beginning Note

I thought I knew what was coming when I stepped through the door of that classroom. I had never been more wrong. You see, being in a slightly insane-100% noisy-23 kid class seems simple. But it turns out there is a lot to it. So welcome to your not-so-fancy crash course on the social hierarchy of a sixth grade class! Told by yours truly, the very bottom of the triangle.

Chapter 1

Sixth grade is never easy. New school, new people, new friends. But I suppose here in Lark Glen it’s a bit harder. Lark Glen is this semi suburb-rural community. Everyone is really spread out, but it isn’t all farms and such. Everyone goes to the middle school, Lake Glen Junior High, the elementary school, Lake Glen Elementary, or the highschool, Lake Glen High School.

My mom used to tell me I would be gifted by the sky. That someday, everything in our lives would be fixed. With a falling star. Then it would all be ok. Like it used to be. Before she passed, I thought the star would come because the sky felt it was time. Now I know better. A star only falls when it’s time is over. Now I know and I wish I didn’t.
It wasn’t too long ago when my mom died. Just under a year. She had been our, my, only lifeline. When she wasn’t there to pull me up I drowned. The memories were storms of laughs and smiles I would never see. Of half-dreams I had once imagined. Half the thoughts were of how she hugged me and told me that I was the best daughter ever. Endless I love you Zia. Once every few weeks, I would pull myself together enough to make it look tighty and pay the dues to our apartment. My apartment. But soon it was too much. I broke. For weeks I wandered the streets. I had given up. But I doubt I would have been able to pull enough strength together to end my misery if I had wanted to. That was the strange part. I hadn’t wanted to. My mother wanted me safe so part of me still obeyed her wishes. Then I met Felix.
Despite the fact that I was scrawny, lost and broken, Felix took me in. I met Jen and Max soon after and I had something to live for. Friendship. Jen and I were like sisters. After I had friends, I changed my name to Sparrow. I couldn’t hear my name without her voice to it. Jen, Max, and Felix never pressed me on my past. And I was grateful. I still am, but things have gotten harder.
Last month they started looking for me. Well for someone named Zia who didn’t fit my description anymore. It was kind of sad that they only just told the police I was gone. I was supposed to be staying with my aunt and uncle, but they are never home and usually didn’t care if I was.
Felix was always trying to be responsible for everything. Everyone. Well Jen, Max, and me. There wasn’t anyone else to be responsible for. Anyway, we lived in a back street alley in the middle of the city.

One essay was on paper D: and wasn't final drafted, but I do have the other one!

Ashes by Abbie:
Ashes aren’t white,
Ashes aren’t blue,
Ashes aren’t dark as night,
Nor bright as light,
Ashes aren’t red,
Ashes aren’t gray,
Ashes are every moment of the being once theirs,
Now just the remains of the endless moving fate.

On Cerulean Wings
On cerulean wings,
I fly far and free,
High above the sea,
To within water’s reach,
Sky’s hold has me,
I will always fly far, fly free,
On my cerulean wings.

The Birds that Sing the Sweetest
The fruit that grows the highest,
Is always the most exquisite in flavor,
The book that stretches longest,
Is the most adequate of detail,
The bird that sings the sweetest song,
Has always felt the deepest grief.
For the bird that sings the sweetest,
Sings from its heartfelt memories.

Despite
Despite the clouding shadowed storm the boat still pushes ahead.
Despite the booming deafening noise a soldier fights a battle.
Despite the long tedious work a robin still builds its nest.
Despite the cold and winter snow a child runs a whim.
Despite the harsh training a runner still finishes.
Despite the whipping wind a bird flies true.
Despite the world and how it breaks,
Hope shall always be a grasp dare hard times run anew.

1980:
Entry 1
I ran away from my village. I was fed up with sitting around the house doing nothing, or just spinning silk and plucking crops. I took a cart and horse with hopes that I would be able to get some money for my family.
Last night I came to a village. It was abandoned and empty. The hinges on the doors were hanging open and there wasn’t a soul in sight. MY village has always been lively and bright. This village has felt… dark. Every brick was the exact same, not one different kind of edge. My village didn’t have this.
The worn track continued pushing through a sweltering desert and past towering mountains. That was apparently what being a trader meant. Everyone always told me women don’t go on the silk road, or you can’t trade-you are a girl! But I never saw why. I am as able as any of them! And I want to trade so I decided I would. If I want something I tend to do what is necessary to get it.
I hadn’t brought too much from my village. Only a few precious jade objects. One was a perfect little elephant with a curved trunk. It is just a decoration, but with the rising value in jade and bronze, I thought it would sell for a fair price. Other than that I have several well woven cloths. Some are silk, some wool, and even some cotton. Tomorrow, I am going to trade them at a nearby village. For now, I must continue on my path, for if I delay much longer I will have to travel by night to reach the village.

Entry 2
I arrived at the village just before evening came. The sun was burning with fire over the huts thatched grass roofs. There was little time left to trade so I headed to an inn towards the center square. The innkeeper was a kind old man who let me stay for a fair price. I asked him where I ought to put my wagon and horse and was told they would go, “Out with the rest of ‘em.” I wondered what he meant. Inside, the main room was bustling with light and business. Traders and village folk were all gathered around several tables that held goods. Merchants sat in front of their tables and advertised their goods. Apparently this was the place to trade. I headed up to my room to drop some of my goods and supplies off. My room was clean but sparse with a small table and a comfortable bed. When I came back to the main room, the people were beginning to serve food. A man stood at the front of a long counter of dark wood. On the counter were several kinds of dishes. One looked to be a fish covered in small green leaves. There were so many that I couldn’t decide what to try. The prices were high and I realized they were probably foods that the other traders had brought with them from other places. I decided to stick with my own food because I wanted to conserve my money until I had a fair trade going. I finished my food and headed over to the tables where the merchants were selling. I noticed that they did not look the same at all. They all looked like they were from other worlds! One of them was probably from Egypt, with their clothes and trade items. They had ivory and gold on the table. They were priced fairly high and some of the villagers were trying to sway the price. It seemed that this person spoke our language because he had no trouble understanding the calls for change.
“Do you have no wish to buy something?” A voice asked behind me. I turned and was surprised to see a young woman only a few years younger than me. She had clearly been standing there for a while because of her relaxed posture against the door frame.
“I intend to save my money. If I use it now I will have nothing to trade.” My response did not appear to satisfy her.
“What brings you to this life anyway? Trading is a perilous job.”
“I am drawn to it as a fly to honey. And you?” I was very curious on how and why this girl was all the way out here on the silk road. She surely wasn’t a trader.
“My father,” she gestured off to a table behind me selling wooden trinkets and tools, “Is a trader. He makes wood things and goes down the silk road every year. I was told to come with him this year. He hopes to find me a husband while we are here.” She was quiet for a moment. “How did you come to love trading ma’am?”
The moment the girl said these words I thought my blood had frozen to ice. “H-how did you know?”
“The way you hold yourself is different. Not like them.” She gestured towards a group of burly men. “Don’t worry I won’t tell. I doubt they will or have even noticed. Most people don’t pay such close attention. I am Huā”
“Lǚxíng. I must leave tomorrow, but I hope we meet again.” I smiled at her. It seemed I had made a friend, if only a temporary one. I began to walk away when Huā said out behind me.
“Wait!” Huā had grabbed my arm. “W-will you take me with you?”
“I-I don’t know. Wouldn’t you get in trouble? And aren’t you going to have to run away to leave? Will your father even let you out of his sight?” I had a bad feeling about taking her with me.
“My father wouldn’t let me go if he knew I was gone. He hasn’t even looked at me since we left. Besides, he wants rid of me one way or another. And if he can’t get me a husband he might just leave me here and tell my mother I was taken. Either way I need a way out of this life.” Huā looked so desperate. “Please Lǚxíng I need to leave.”
“Fine. But you have to help me trade. And pretend you're like my brother or something. If they find out what we really are I will be sent back to my village and you to your father.” I turned around and headed upstairs. “We have to leave now. Come on, let's go pack..”

Entry 3
One of the villagers was ta;lking about the Chinese army. They said that for some reason they were on the move. Apparently there were new things that helped them a lot. The blacksmiths made strong armor and long swords. One of the villagers said that they used kites to scare away enemies. I saw a little boy running along with this kite, and it was hard to believe that would scare anyone. Crossbows were an interesting one. They shot with more power than an ordinary bow and were easier to aim.
As we passed the farmlands I saw a man with an ox pulling his hoe. It was made of some sort of metal. I also saw a woman sitting outside her house spinning silk. The way they were doing it was amazing! There was some sort of a contraption where she pumped her foot up and down up and down so many times my foot hurt thinking about it. There was a little boy pushing a wheelbarrow full of hay. Or at least that’s what Huā called it. It was like a long stretched bucket with 2 little wheels.
A little later we passed a rice fields where they were pumping water out using a device Huā called a “chain pump” It was moving the water up and out of the fields! I still can’t believe there have been so many advancements out here. Even these rural areas have so much technology. I should head to bed because if we are going to keep this pace to the next village, we must stay on track.

Entry 4
Today we passed a salt mine. It was very interesting and went on for a long while. The men were using a tall structure of some sort and pushing a long bamboo stick into the ground. A little farther down they were boiling a large pot of water and steam was rising from it. After a couple of minutes, at one of the other fires going, they were emptying one of the pots. As they poured out the contents I realized what it was. Salt! It was small and far more than I thought there would be. This was the stuff the people who could pay for it used to add flavor to foods. Huā wasn’t very interested. Her father was a merchant so he had plenty of salt and goods like this. We traveled on and reached another village to stop at. Tomorrow we will head on.

Entry 5
Today we met an old man. His name is Yèzi and he is a doctor and a scientist. Yèzi claims to specialize in astronomy. He says he used to work for one of the wealthier nobles before he decided to become a traveling healer to insure people got what was needed. He was too noble to be real. It was probably a disguise, a trick so he could use them to get something. But I still let him come with us.. He would be allowed to tag along, for now. Besides, we need his expertise on the road. Since then he has just been chatting away. He said that he had studied and learned much in science before focusing on the stars. He talked long about inventions. One was called a seismograph and it measures how big an earthquake is. I have never been in an earthquake but Yèzi says the ground shakes and buildings fall and move.
After a few hours of this, Yèzi was stopped at a farmer’s house. The farmer said something about back pain for his father and a few other things I didn’t understand. I believe he said acupuncture and moxibustion. Later Yèzi explained that acupuncture is when he sticks needles into someone’s back to relieve the pain. He also talked about moxibustion. I didn’t really understand him but I think he was saying how it was when you burnt things on peoples backs.

Entry 6
1 I think I might go back to my village. I have made plenty of money and have enough experience to come again. But if I return I will risk having this found. It was hard enough keeping Huā out of this thing. I might as well burn it, for I am scared that if I return with it some one may find it while going through my things. SoI am going to burn this journal. It’s a shame no one can ever read it. But who knows? Maybe it will survive and some one will read it.

After word
This is the story of how Lǚxíng, a young chinese women, leaves her village to start a trader’s life and help her family, disguised as a boy. Lǚxíng notes lots of inventions and advancements in her journal (this) as well as culture, people, and places. She eventually decides to go back to her village and hopefully get rid of this journal. (Yes it survived the fire.) Some of the advancements Lǚxíng talked about are: crossbows, iron plow, wheelbarrow, chain pump, art, sculpting, weaving, silk spinner, acupuncture, moxibustion, jade objects, seismograph, paper (sort of), bamboo drills, salt, stronger armor and swords, and maybe a few more I have forgotten. I am sorry if my drawings are not clear what they are. Also the entries aren’t made every day, just on the important stuff.

318:
Prologue

Once upon a time in a far away land where mountains punctured the sky that glowed red and orange, one dared to reach beyond the fiery sky and touch the blue. Her name was Jessa Flo-Lay.

Chapter 1
Jessa shoved her way through the busy streets of Vora’s market. Massive bright colored tents and canopies lined the main street. Along with the sun covers, came the burning heat. As long as anyone could remember the Sky had been there. A disorder, but at the same time a blessing. With the heat came the rain. The sun rose the water into its firey canvas and clouded the air with mist and, without much delay, torrents of rain.
Today it had been especially warm, but that didn’t matter. Jessa still needed to buy, well whatever she saw that looked helpful. So most of the time rope, random knives, water resistant cloth, and recruits. The last one was less common but still important. And it wasn’t something to be bought with coins. Even though it was a million degrees, the escaped or freed slaves along the roads still hung onto their blankets. Even as she walked past, just giving them the slightest passing glance, she knew they understood her meaning. What she stood for. Who she was. No one would forget the leader who cost the slavers hundreds of servants and labor forces. No one would ever, not even after the Sparks had long fallen and her throne on this city’s streets had toppled, forget them. Forget her. And that was the problem.
If they know you, it’s dangerous. If they remember you, but can’t find you, you're good. Just don’t get caught. If you got caught, there were eight rather mean “merchants” that would gladly take her head and some more revenge if she ever got caught. Even if she wasn’t caught by one of their spies and cutthroats.

1112:
Prologue

Once upon a time in a far away land where mountains punctured the sky that glowed red and orange, one dared to reach beyond the fiery sky and touch the blue. Her name was Jessa Flo-Lay.

Chapter 1
12 days. That was how long the Sparks had gone without any progress. If the guards hadn’t been so intent on keeping the caravan safe, they would have freed the slaves by now. At midnight. At midnight they would strike the caravan. At midnight they would have 10 more slaves, hungry and weak, at their hands. But they would be free. That is what matters. Or at least she had told herself this a million times. If the slaves didnt join them to fight back, collect and steal food, and stop the guards from burning their safe house to the ground, the Sparks might as well quit this whole hopeless-but-we-are-still-trying mission. Maybe if they had a stronger leader. No, not going there again. Jessa was strong. Strong enough to hold her own against a bunch of guards. So why couldn’t she stop worrying about being a good enough leader for her mission.
“Ma’am. There is someone here to see you.” Her messenger stood by the door of her office. Her office was a small but homey room with brightly colored rugs and elaborate tapestries. The desk was wood but had small diamond shapes carved into the polished flara wood. Flara trees were fire resistant, water proof, and stronger than any material in the entire kingdom of Rosae. Of course there could be stronger materials beyond the borders of Rosae. The Needles rose to the north, the Marshes to the west, the GrassLands to the south, and the Pavala Desert to the east. The terrain around Rosae created a barrier like no human could ever surpass. Every direction was blocked-the Marshes were full of quicksand and far too dangerous to brave. Besides, who knows what's in there? The Pavala Desert was so dry you would be driven insane within a day. The GrassLands were unexplored and could hold anything. And the worst of all-the Needles. The Needles were sharper than any blade, stronger than anything. Well the Needles were stronger than flara wood. But the worst part about the Needles was that no matter how many soldiers, spys, officers, children, royalty, commoners, farmers, slaves, blacksmiths, and so many more people, no one ever came back alive if they got within 50 feet of the foothills. You would think that they would have decided the loss was too much, but there was a reason for this. The tallest mountain in the Needles, poked through the sky. The tip of Mount Jilo disappeared into the orange fiery red that covered the entire empire of Rolae. And prophecy said, The darkness reches and devours, if the fire still burns when the shadows stretch far, the world will break apart. 5 shall chance it, true at heart, and save your light from the dark. It seemed the prophecy was true. Every day since the moment the scroll fell into the hands of the Emperor the Needle's “death circle” as people called it, grew. And it was getting faster. Now when it originally took a year to grow a foot, it was growing an inch every week. Within a year the entire empire would be devoured by the circle. And worse. According to Jessa’s private investigations, it was starting to appear on the other borders. Small at first. Just like how the Needles started. If she was right, and she usually was, then the entire world was in danger.
“Bring them in.” Jessa replied. The messenger pulled a young woman, no a girl, clad all in black. She couldn’t be any older than Jessa was. Jessa was surprisingly young for a leader of a rebel group. Most leaders were somewhere from 18-20 but Jessa was only 15.
“Speak.” Jessa said. Her eyes never left the girl’s eyes. After a minute the girl dropped her gaze to the floor. Jessa had won. Her stare always made them look away.
“I am here with a message.” The girl’s voice was strong when she looked weak.
“I have a messenger for that.” Jessa’s voice was cold and sharp. The girl looked surprised by her response. There was fear in her big, brown eyes. Poor girl Jessa thought. “Get on with it.”
The girl looked up and said, “There was a riot in the south eastern villages a few days ago. Where they get the slaves. They are hoping to get help from the Sparks. It turned into a full on rebellion within a couple of hours. They sent me to ask for help. I learned more on the way about the rebellion. They are saying the soldiers didn’t bring enough help. They think the reinforcements will come. I-I wanted to ask you if you can wreck their weapons and supplies.”
After a moment Jessa says, “I don’t think that will affect them. They ought to have enough wealth to buy more. Plus I can’t risk my people for a mission that will provoke more attacks. Who sent the soldiers anyway?”
“Oh.” She looks sad. “I don’t know which one sent them. It might help if you know they all wore red uniforms and carried swords.”
“I see…” Jessa thinks about it. The young girl is in no shape to get back. If only there was something that would do more than delay the soldiers a day. Or less. “I have an idea! We have extremely high stocks of sleeping gas. It can stay in effect for up to 10 days if we release enough.” When she noticed the horror on the girl's face she quickly added, “We don’t drug them for fun. It’s so we can get the slaves free when there are guards on the caravan.”
The girl looked relieved. “D-do you think it will work ma’am?”
“We can’t know until we try.” The answer was grim and didn't exactly ease the girl’s worries. “If our stores are full, and they stop directly at the port, all will go well and no one on our side should be hurt. Of course the probability of that is… 10-none.” Jessa was upright. Sometimes people would say a little too upright. But she was a leader. And playing on fake odds didn’t get anyone anywhere.
“If we get ready today, we can get it done tomorrow, send help to the villages the day after, and get done with this whole thing within a few days.” Jessa knew that it would be hard. She would have to keep her rebels sharp and prepared for anything.

3710:
In the small hunting city of Dásos, a young hunter was attempting to shoot a deer. As he chased the buck past the village and toward Fos, the bright, running river that passed by Dásos and through the Wood, the nymphs surfaced to watch. The young hunter continued to chase the buck along the river bank. As he fired another arrow, a young nymph surfaced to watch. The arrow whizzed past the deer, but unlike the others that landed harmlessly in the water, this one struck the young nymph. As the nymph collapsed into the river she called home. The mighty river god of the Fos, bestowed by Apollo when he created the river for his sister’s growing forest, erupted from the water.
“Who killed the nymph whose life will forever haunt these waters?!?” Thundered the might river god.
“I-I did not mean t-to.” The young hunter stuttered and stumbled back from the river god, for in all his furious glory, it was quite a scary sight. The young hunter turned and raced back to Dásos.
As the young hunter approached Dásos he yelled out for all to hear, “I fear I have angered thou mighty river god! Fear thou he come and take our home! I wish not he abolish our civilization!”
Citizens muttered and murmured as the hunter ran up the cobbled path to Dásos’ main government building. As the hunter reached the huge oak doors, a young woman appeared in his path.
“What is thee doing up here, when you ought to be hunting in thee Wood?” The girl asked. She had black hair and a rugged appearance.
“It is none of your concern! Go clean yourself up girl.” The hunter sneered.
Without another word the girl stepped aside and let him into the building. Later on it would be known that the girl’s name was Xenia. Xenia did not walk away as suspected she would. Instead she watched from the window as the hunter muttered to himself in the empty building.
“I want not the blame,” the hunter lamented. “I shall tell them not of his anger, but of the great wealth of meat upon the other side of the river. As they go to find it, angered the river god will be! The blame shall fall upon the hunters who chase the deer across the river.” The young hunter laughed to himself. As long as he could ensure there were no survivors, the blame would fall upon the “pointlessly angry” river god. Dásos would send battle reinforcements to restrain or dispose of the river god. And then the secret would die.
Xenia watched with a look of sheer disgust upon her face. The men who called themselves worthy and fair, kind and brave, honorable and trustworthy, were nothing of the sort. Xenia decided she would check on the river god and see what was happening. Of course at this time and place, a woman doing something like that was unheard of. A woman leaving Dásos alone was unheard of.
Xenia slipped from the open window and walked down to the gate, pretending to be casual and collected. The guard at the exit asked where she was going.
“I’m going for a walk to the meadow sir,” Xenia replied. “I wish you good day.”
Xenia continued walking and eventually made it to the river. Xenia hid behind a bush and watched the mighty river god assemble his warriors from the river to attack Dásos. Instead of a straight forward attack as Xenia had assumed or a passive attack for any unfortunate enough to be nearby, the river god was planning a sneak attack.
Before there was trouble, Xenia had to get to Dásos and tell her city about the treachery. Xenia hurried back to the gate, up the loud bustling path, and to the government building. Dásos was an aristocratic government but the rulers were old and lazy. As Xenia burst in the leaders were lounging around at a couple of plush seats and tables laden with sweets and delicacies.
“What is the meaning of this?” Croaked the eldest of the three. “We have no planned meeting! Let alone with a woman.”
“Please! I have important information! A formidable enemy wishes you harm.” Xenia was desperate to save her city and all those within.
“Hah! A girl as a spy? I believe not! Probably paid to tell us lies. Besides, no girl has enough value.” The old man glared at Xenia. “Take her away!”
Three guards grabbed Xenia and dragged her from the council room. After shutting the door in her face, the guards headed back inside.
Xenia decided she would seek advice from Artemis. Artemis was the goddess of the Hunt and had no real relation to Dásos. The forest was hers and the land around the polis was Dásos’s. Neither bothered one another.
Xenia trekked back out of the gate where the guards were starting to give her odd looks, and headed towards the Wood.
After a few minutes of walking, Xenia reached the Wood. Huge trees towered into the sky, reaching fiery leaves towards the sun.
Instead of making a rash choice and running into the trees, Xenia called out for entrance. “Oh brave huntress, I plead your help to save my city.”
“Enter the Wood to prove your bravery.” A smooth voice flitted through the trees as a bird through the sky.
“I shall do as you wish.” Xenia was very brave and stepped from the edge of the shadowy forest into the depths. Rather than being dark and gloomy, full of evil and shadows, the Wood was filled with moonlight and green. Birds sang quiet lullabies into the sweet night air.
Xenia peered around. The forest was as different as a foriegn polis to her.
“You must be very brave.” Xenia whirled to see a maiden in a silver tunic.
Xenia bowed low but managed to keep her dignified expression even in her surprise.
“Thank you.” Xenia gazed awed. “I need help. There is a hunter in my city that angered the river god of Fos. The river god intends to sneak upon Dásos and destroy it. I need help to stop him.”
“I can help you,” Artemis said, “But I am not a war goddess. I can not hurt without the reason of the Hunt or another good reason. We must do something else.”
Xenia felt her spirits sink but soon had another grand scheme to try.
“What if we negotiate?” Xenia offered.
“I suppose we could try… it would be hard to get an angry river god to agree to a peace treaty but it’s worth a chance.”
Xenia and Artemis left the forest. It would have been an odd sight. A young maiden with a large quiver of silver arrows and a young woman walking out from a dark forest discussing something with very serious expressions.
Only a few meters from the Wood, Artemis froze. Xenia had been wrong, the river god had not taken a hidden route, he had full-on attacked Dásos.
“We’re too late!” Xenia said.
“We can still try to negotiate with them. There is still hope.” Artemis urged Xenia to hurry, for their time was running low.
Soon they reached the river. From afar, there was very little damage done. A few warriors lying about and dust rising near the wall. Reality was far cruler and full of much more devastation and destruction. The river god had summoned and called upon 3 huge water beasts. One was in the form of a huge serpent with fangs that lashed the air. The second was an even larger lion, clawing at the air with its somehow substantial claws. The third was a giant dragon, flying far above the city and diving down to scoop up warriors and shoot boiling steam over them, turning their skin raw and boiling the ones who were caught directly by the flow.
Amongst it all were smaller creatures of the same sort. Wolves, foxes, stags, and boars charged among the melee on the city grounds. The citizens of Dásos were hopeless. Women and children were being rushed up to the shrine, dedicated to no particular god or goddess.
Men laid upon the ground dead, while the rest were dressed in mix matched armor and old swords. About an eighth of them were still alive, and about a half of them were running away from the fight. What was left of Dásos’s population was either running or attempting to fight off the water beasts.
“What do we do?” Yelled Xenia over the roaring of the water beasts.
“Follow me.” Replied Artemis.
They walked a few yards back from the gaping gash in the wall. Artemis turned to Xenia.
“We still need to try to negotiate. If that doesn’t work we can gather some of the women from the city and ask them to help fight. After that we can plan a form of attack that will work.”
Xenia nodded in agreement. “I can round up the women to fight while you negotiate. Then if anything goes wrong we can be prepared to start planning and fighting.”
Artemis agreed and they parted ways to begin the task of preventing Dásos from being destroyed.
While Xenia went to organize their makeshift army and well, recruit the makeshift army, Artemis attempted to negotiate with the river god.
“O mighty river god! I am here to negotiate a surrender upon the behalf of Dásos!” Artemis called to the river.
“Surrender?!?” The river god boomes rising from the river. “Hah! There will be no pity on those cruel assassins of the river! I shall wage war upon them until there is no more war left to fight! Then I will take what remains and use them as my slaves.” The river god sneered. “There will be no pity!!!”
“Be reasonable. No one ought to act out of anger.” Artemis replied.
“You said like Athena! Don’t even bother, no one can convince me otherwise! This war will go on.”
Artemis threw her hands up in frustration and began to walk away. But instead of going to find Xenia and helping with her efforts there, Artemis quickly flew up to Olympus to ask for some help.
“Athena!” She called. “I need help! A city is being attacked by an angry river god, but the men are all dead. Their… one of the women is trying to organize an army to help but there is not a weapon in sight!”
“I will send you shields, armor, and weapons, but you must ensure they end up with a female run society and no more of the clamor of a dishonest and lazy government.”
“I will ensure it.” Artemis promised.
Artemis headed back down to Dásos and told Xenia of her plan.
“The weapons will arrive here shortly. How is the status on the fighters?” Artemis asked. They were in a large tent with several tables and a couple of lists of names. It was probab;y were the governors had been planning from before.
“There are about 5,000 willing to fight and another 1,000 who will help with anything behind the lines. And another 500 or so are going to try to make it to the nearest city-state for more help. The rest are staying behind to care for children and such.” Xenia was proud she had accumulated so many warriors.
“Good job, now we must get them prepared for what comes next.” Artemis wore a grim look on her face as she explained the situation and plan to the fighters.
“I will stay back and help with all the behind the lines action.” Artemis said to Xenia.
“Why can you not help us fight? You were the one who helped us, me, so much.”
“I ddi the most I can child, you must win this fight on your own. They will not respect one who did not earn her own power. Do as you must and their ruler you shall be.” Artemis smiled and told Xenia of her destiny. “You will rule Dásos and then your descendants will too. The fate of this city is yours.”
Xenia nodded and headed out to what would be her people. The first battle was about to begin.
The battle waged long days as the fighters slashed in waves, archers shot arrows and caused confusion across the water beats, strikers threw in quick slashes, stormers charged in and mulled down a few of the smaller beasts. Repeat. Very few of the women died, archers had no deaths as they had weaker fighters around to defend against the dragon and any other flying beasts. The fighters grew weary, but Xenia pushed them all to fight hard and win. She herself took places in every job she could, medic, archer, striker, stormer, anywhere there was an open spot. Soon the water beasts were few and scattered, weak and small. The only real challenges left were the three large beasts.
The lion had been dealt harsh blows by many, but still was able to charge their ranks and cause scrambling and chaos. The serpent was slithering about day and night meaning that guards were posted to watch all sides of the fighters. And the dragon was only reachable by skilled archers or tall strikers and spears when it swooped down to strike.
Xenia had suffered her own wounds and was having trouble shooting a bow. Soon there were few arrows and such, but even fewer beasts.
As the time droned on Xenia needed a new plan. She gathered a few of the best fighters and gave them all assigned groups. They were responsible for making sure their groups did as told and that no one was left behind. They also were supposed to meet with her and discuss battle plans. One night when they met for an overview, one of the leaders suggested a plan.
“We can build something that will reach high enough to attack the dragon. Then we can have the archers and some of our fighters with spears head up there.”
Everyone began pointing out the flaws in this plan. Xenia was silent. It was true that the wood could burn, but the forest near the Fos had made it through many fires and hadn’t been burned. Maybe they could get some help from Artemis to have it grow into the shape needed. The plan wasn’t the best, but it was all they had.
“Yes.” Xenia said and the room went silent. “We can use wood from the forest beside the Fos. Are there any men left? We can have them go get it while we continue our fight. We also won’t have as many deaths if the river god attacks while harvesting. What do you think?”
Everyone agreed and they headed to their next shift. Zema, then captain who proposed the idea, stayed behind.
“Do you really think it will work?” She asked Xenia.
“I believe we can eventually get it right, but it will have casualties. The biggest flaw will be the fighters getting swept off the platform before they even get a chance to attack.” Xenia frowned. “But overall I think it must be our best shot.”
Zema nodded and headed out.
The next morning Xenia went to talk to Artemis and see about the platform idea.
“I think it might work,” Artemis said. “But you will need Demeter’s help for the plants, and I don’t know if she would be willing to help with something like that. She… is very non-violent.”
“We have to try. It’s our only chance.” Replied Xenia.
Artemis nodded. “This war needs to be over soon. I will talk to her. Tell her it will save a lot of lives even.”
Xenia thanked Artemis and headed back to the war zone to call a meeting among the captains. At the meeting, Xenia explained the idea to the leaders. Everyone agreed despite earlier disagreement that this was their best chance.
The plan was approved by Demeter and they soon found the structure growing up near the base of the Acropolis. The branches, roots, leaves, and trunks intertwined in a strong, stable foundation. The top was nearly 50 feet high and had thinner branches building around the outer rim of the top. The branches created a railing to prevent the archer and fighters from being blown off by the gusts from the dragon’s wings. As the time to begin their operation began, Xenia gave a speech to the warriors below.
“We have risen from the failure of the men who cowered behind us, we have grown from the dirt we were beneath for so long, we have fought a war far worse than the trained soldiers of an army now broken and rejected. We have created a plan more exquisite than any ever before. Our place in history will not be forgotten as we stand firm in our place! Even if this goes terribly wrong, we made a change and we will stand by it! May the world shine its light upon us as we do what none other has done before. Let us win this battle!”
Xenia and her archers and fighters climbed a rope ladder that was hung from the railing of the structure. Once all the necessary people had made it up, the ladder was cut. They had an extra for heading back down, if they would be heading back down. Now most would be wondering where the source of all this commotion was at this time? Well the fighters were not. So they did not know that the river god had quit sitting in his river watching the world go by and expecting the beasts would return soon, but was now watching in horror as the rope ladder was cut and the archers and fighters prepared. The river god knew that the fight of his beasts was hopeless and watched as the second battle began to unfold.
Xenia and Zema were atop the platform beginning to organize everyone when the dragon swooped low towards the platform. The warriors yelped and jumped to the side, and the dragon’s heat sizzled away from the wood like a forcefield. The fighters gazed in awe at the platform before scrambling to get their weapons and assemble as they were ordered.
Xenia commanded half the archers to aim at the dragon’s wings, which were soon peppered with holes, and the other half to aim at the space underneath the dragon’s neck. The rest of its body was covered in ice armor that had the arrows just bouncing off.
After a few hours the dragon’s wings began to fail and it slipped from the sky in a shower of mist. But that wasn’t then end just yet.
As the warriors were celebrating their success, Xenia commented to Zema how odd it was lion and serpent were not in sight. Only seconds later the snake began to slither up the structure, with the warriors oblivious at the top. After a few minutes the snake curled around the base of the platform on which the warriors celebrated. Instead of making an attack the snake sat in wait. As the warriors prepared to go down, Zema peered below to see if the lion was waiting. Instead she found herself eye to eye with the giant water beast.
The snake glared at her and hissed, a raspy horrible sound. Zema jumped back and yelled over the din.
“The snake is on the platform! The snake is up here!” She called out. Xenia heard her and ran over to Zema. Before she had a chance to peer down, the serpent's head lashed over the railing and soon its body followed. The warriors jumped back as the snake struck forward. Xenia and Zema dodged and were missed by a hair.
Right as the snake’s head pulled back for another strike, a huge water mass came flying through the air and landed upon the snake's neck, crushing it into the platform. The giant snake should have survived, but the hard surface on which Demeter had made for the warriors was stronger than its neck. Mist coated the space where the serpent used to be, but before they could celebrate they were faced with another problem. The lion.
The mighty beast slashed its claws across the deck creating thin gouges on the impenetrable wood. The warriors ran right and left dodging the claws and fangs as the lion bounded about the platform in an angry pursuit. Xenia dodged and snagged a fallen sword from the ground. As the lion turned to face another warrior, Xenia drove the sword deep into the side of the beast. Mist seeped from the wound and consumed the lion as it had done to the other water creatures, and the water fell flat at Xenia’s feet.

~~A few months later~~

After the second and first battles, Xenia was promoted to leader of Dásos. Zema was titled deputy and second in command for her bravery and strength in the battles. The old government was thrown out and so was the young hunter who started it all. They gave him to the river god and that calmed him down. But of course he had to keep his dignity and from then on the river Fos was never bright and cheery again, rather dangerous and dark. Most of the men were dead, so the women operated almost all the jobs. Xenia didn’t want any men to have very much power so they weren’t considered citizens. As a favor, Artemis grew the thick forest border that surrounded Dásos for years to come. The land around Dásos was flattened by Demeter so there would be farmland and it was later named the Hunter’s Plane, for the hunting that happened in the nearby Wood and such. Artemis eventually left the Wood but always was fond of Dásos. Athena let them keep their weapons and such and blessed Dásos with a new, much stronger wall. Their main shrine was dedicated to Artemis with a joint shrine for Demeter and Athena for their help. Xenia and her descendants ruled long over Dásos with military prodigies taking the space beside the ruler, and Dásos was successful for a long time.

(heh I went overboard on a lot of assignments for social studies)

The rest are on devices I can't get on right now! But if I can I will add them here later.

This man didn’t and he thought that the battle was frivolous for a power struggle. Both kingdoms, already separate and free mingling with each other only to take control of the other. This king did not believe in greed.
But there’s something wrong that the arrogant king got wrong. The cautious king is not a coward. He is only cautious and he would sacrifice for his own kingdom. He looked deep within himself and as he charged into battle, he thought only one thing.
Hildeth, take care of my Snow White.

The news came later that the King of their kingdom was dead. Another ruler lost, one lost to illness and another lost to the sadness of bloodshed. Both kings died that day and that officially ruled the kingdom split in half.
Snow White was officially an orphan as she stared out the curtains at the black-robed villagers attending the funeral of her father. Hildeth had prohibited her from attending and she was the only light pink-dressed person in the castle.
The very night when the Scarlet Star was brightest in the sky, Snow White laid down on her bed and closed her eyes. Holy Scarlet Star, please bring my father and mother back and rid the castle of this woman. I don’t want her here. I know you brought me into this world so please get Hildeth back out.

I

10 years old, Snow White was when the new queen came along and 12 years old when her father died. 9 years without her father as she grew, cared, raised, and spoiled by all around her. Though her outer beauty shined, her inner beauty only grew more rotten.
But does that mean the Scarlet Star didn’t grant the late queen’s wish? When she asked for a child with the hair the color of the black thorns she witnessed on her roses, a soul as pure as the snow that had fallen when she thought of the wish and a heart as red as the petals of roses outside and the drop of blood she had shed from one of those very blooms?
Well yes, the Scarlet Star did grant her wish. Her child was kind and as she would have described “perfect”. But if anyone on Earth has learned, a person does not stay the same. Every person has character development based on their experiences and environment and if one thing is for sure, being one of the most beautiful people at a young age cannot be good for a child’s psyche.
Snow White though one of the most beautiful, was one of the most spoiled children in the kingdom. She was not kind nor was she compassionate. The only ones she truly was nice to were the animals that visited her castle. They didn’t spoil her but they loved her and she thought them as equals, unlike the ones who thought her as a living goddess, who she saw as only servants and lower folk, not nearly as high as herself. But there was one person who didn’t spoil her. In fact, he did the exact opposite.
Snow White was turning 13 the next day and royalty and aristocrats from allied kingdoms were attending her 13th birthday. That day, she was wearing a cyan blue dress with the ends of her sleeves a billowing white. Stepmother thought that she was pretty enough but Snow White disagreed. Her hair had hints of dandruff and there was a zit forming on her nose. How horrifying. She thought to herself as she washed her hair for the second time today and applied some makeup onto her nose, appearing as if her skin was flawless once more. But just for measure, she brushed her hair with her ebony made comb that was left from her mother. Her hair was black and wavy and traveled to the middle of her chest. Just for extra measure, she wore a rose clip.
“Wow that’s a bit excessive don’t you think?” Snow White stumbled and her chair made a shrieking sound as it skidded across the floor. She stood up to see an averagely handsome boy staring at her. “Who are you? Can you see that I was busy?”
“Yes, so busy fiddling with that little clip of yours,” said the boy. He wasn’t that pretty and she wondered how he had managed to get into the castle.
“But you didn’t answer my question.”
“Oh why yes. I’m Prince Felix of the Eminence Falls, 1st born son as heir to the throne of King Samuel, coming to visit a beautiful, kind princess who's turning 13. Have you seen her?”
Snow White scoffed. “You’re looking at her, dear blind fellow.” She stuck her hand out waiting for a light peck on the finger.
But she felt something different. She looked back to see Prince Felix shaking her head. “Charmed. How do you do?”
“I’m doing quite fine.”
“So apparently your name is Snow White? Isn’t your name only a description?” The boy said it with such innocence that Snow White was deciding whether he was bluffing or if he was serious.
“It is a description of my beauty,” replied Snow White, ripping her hand out of his. “And now, a description that matches the moment is that we will almost be late to my birthday ceremony if we do not hurry our pace.”
While walking, she glanced into his eyes and a burning passion to understand what he was thinking boiled in her brain. What did he think of her? Everyone she knew except maybe her stepmother adored her but he didn’t. Why? Why was he different? Was she different? What did he think of her? The questions emerged one after another but she ended up smothering them all away. It was her birthday and it was about her. No need to trouble herself with the thoughts of some distant prince. Besides, he wasn’t even that handsome anyway.
She took several steps on the marble floor tap tap tap while taking side glances at the prince. “How long will you be here?” She asked.
“I’m actually going to be here awhile. We’re not just here for your birthday ceremony, we're here to create an alliance between our kingdoms…”
“So you’re not allied already?”
“Well…not exactly.” This time, he took a side glance at me and immediately dropped his gaze to the ground.
“Did you have some trouble with my kingdom?”
The prince turned away.
“Tell me!” Snow White demanded.
“You do know which kingdom your father was fighting last do you?”
“The Em-” No. How could she have not recognized it? The kingdom her father fought.
“Your dad killed my father!”
“Your dad killed my father!” He protested.
She didn’t want to boil on these thoughts. The last time she did, she was 5 years old and she was pounding on a black ebony wood casket with her mother inside it, unknown to the intense grief she had caused her daughter. It was humiliating and now she can’t even remember why her mother was so precious to her.
“Yeah..whatever. We need to go anyway,” and she left the hall without another word.
Of course, that wasn’t when they last met together. Not in a long shot.

Even after all these years, the apple tree was still her favorite place. It always held a place in her heart for so many reasons. Of course, now she is taller but still not tall enough. At this point, a brick had been placed there so the princess could grab an apple from the tree. It seemed like only Snow White was the one to appreciate the tree’s beauty. Though she didn’t care much for humans, the natural wonder of nature’s plants and animals always lured her in and somehow, it made her care.
“My mom makes the best apple pie.”
SKIDDDD. Snow White gasped as she tripped over the brick and fell over, spilling mud all over her flowery gown. Prince Felix covered his mouth. “I’m so sorry, here can I help-”
“NO!” She yelled and the prince took a step back. Unexpectedly, she coughed. “I mean um no, um, you did enough.” Standing up, Snow White brushed the dirt from her gown. “See, it's fine. Yeah fine.”
The prince did not expect a reaction like this but he didn’t react. “Well I’ll see you around.”
“The apple pie. Um, is it good?” asked Snow White.
“Well yeah, it’s delicious.”
Snow White didn’t spend this much time having conversation. She was used to ordering people around. And if she wasn’t ordering around, she was insulting. Or maybe asking if she was able to order around a person. Mostly Stepmother.
“Yeah I’ll see you.”

Need
Queen Hildeth was happy in her temporary reign. She knew it was ephemeral. It was not going to last forever and soon she would have to potentially sacrifice it all to a blunt, inconsiderate child.
But it won’t. She told herself. It would be fine. She knew that the crown selected the best ruler for the kingdom. If it didn’t select her…then that would be best. Sucking in a breath, she stared at the kingdom. During her reign, the kingdom had prospered. There was no one under her watch who would sleep starving.
But it had to be sacrificed. All great rulers had to sacrifice.
“Delivery, Your Majesty,” someone said and Hildeth turned around to see one of her highest servants carrying around a sack.
“I never purchased anything these last few days,” she said out loud.
“It was left outside the castle,” he protested. Hildeth rolled this new information in her head. “Very well. You may leave now.”
After he left, she took careful steps toward the strange package. Hildeth reached her hand inside and felt something flat and sharp. She took it out and it was revealed that it was a small mirror. It was dull and made out of simple wood. Why would someone give me this? She saw that there was something inscripted on it.
“Mirror, mirror in my hand, who’s the fairest in the land?”
“Why you my dear.”
“AAAAH!” Hildeth shrieked and almost dropped the mirror before grabbing it once its edge touched the ground. What-
“Mirror mirror in my hand, how in the world can you speak?!”
It didn’t say anything. It remained a motionless, ordinary mirror. What a strange object.
“Your Majesty! The church requires more funds to keep it running and they asked to request a board meeting,” someone shouted as they burst into her throne room. She didn’t mind of course though she would have definitely preferred to attend to her new package a bit more. But she left it on her throne and hurried over to attend the meeting..

When she came back, Hildeth saw that the mirror was still flat on her throne. Taking sideways glances, the queen grabbed the wooden handle of the mirror and inspected it. Like said before, it was very simple. It looked ancient as there were rings on its wooden surface and the glass was very clear, showing her face in all of its beauty…and tiny flaws. The engraving was still there, little lines chipped into the wood to spell a message that she had read before.
“Mirror mirror in my hand, who’s the fairest in the land?”
“You, my dear.”
Flipping the mirror over, she looked at the back and saw rhyme. “Mirror mirror in my hand, how can you talk…how in the land?”
“I am a mirror that has the ability to relay answers to the viewer though only if the last word rhymes.”
“Mirror mirror in my hand, who made you? Answer my command.”
“I was created by an imp who wished to cause mischief but failed before it could place its final enchantment on myself. Now I can answer any question to my holder no matter what they say,” the mirror said. The voice of the mirror didn’t reverberate from the mirror itself but seemed like a personal voice inside her head. Queen Hildeth felt like no one else could hear it but she couldn’t be sure.
“Mirror mirror in my hand, how long will my reign stand?”
“Your reign will last until 9 years,” the mirror said.
9 years. She rolled this information in her head. But Snow White was 15 years old, still as spoiled as a pig, that would mean that when she came of age of 21, she would…fall.
She would fall. Like the petals of a beautiful flower, pretty on the outside but rotting on the inside, would have its petals fall onto the ground, washed away by water until she was only a distant memory. Hildeth had tried to create a mother-daughter relationship and friendship but she had rejected it. Snow White was impudent and she was not fit to be a queen.
Hildeth’s reign would last longer than 9 years. She was sure of it.

To
Snow White wasn't just nice to the birds. Well that, and one person. Which happened to be the prince who irked her in the first place. Yes she thought him crude and stupid and not very handsome but he didn’t spoil her and actually had real conversations. Animals can’t have conversations with you except when the rooster greets you at the brink of dawn.
The day that she had waited ever since the new queen had taken a place in the castle she called home. When she stole that crown. She was supposed to become the new queen but no, her father had to remarry the first pretty lady he saw. And Snow White valued prettiness but she was so snotty and so rude and she was so amazingly stuck-up. She never gave her any attention except when she was asking her to clean up her messes.
But it was her time. Her 21st birthday was tomorrow and then she could finally take the crown. There was no possible way for her stepmother to gain the crown, that’s not even a possibility in her book. What she only saw was that Queen Snow White, the 13th queen to ascend the throne and she would become even more beloved by her servants.
Snow White made sure to wear the fanciest gown she could see. She chose a sapphire blue gown with flowy silk. Her shoulders were visible and ribbons acted as short sleeves. Ruffles covered every inch of her gown and around her waist, there was a large piece of white silk that separated the two cerulean parts of her gown. As she moved, the ends of the gown twirled giving her a graceful, regal look. Her black hair was styled in a half up half down bun and on her neck there was a black, intricate choker. She looked like a true, beautiful queen. Like my real mother.
The prince ended up living at the castle for the next few years as there was to be a new castle for the part of the kingdom that had become its own territory. His mother was organizing its creation and he was left to mingle with the queen-to-be. Prince Felix was wearing a gold and red shirt with baggy sleeves, black pants, and black boots. He looked much better than usual in an outfit like that and it made his features look much better. That’s what Snow White thought.
“You look nice,” he complimented but Snow White scoffed. “I’m much better than nice but thank you anyway. I’ll look even better when I’m queen.”
Truthfully, Felix saw all of her vanity and selfish nature but he was hoping that she would become better by the time that it was her crown ceremony. But…she really didn’t. Only to him and even then, that was an improvement. “Geez don’t be so obnoxious. Come on, you have to be in the main hall in a couple minutes.”
“Hmph,” Felix thought that it was a miracle that she wasn’t tripping. He couldn’t see her shoes but knowing Snow White, she was most likely wearing 5 inch black heels and somehow, her feet didn’t break. Girls. Boys never kill their feet this way.
Felix escorted Snow White to the large doors that in a couple minutes, she would make her incredibly dramatic entrance that he knew she would make and the queen would be waiting beside the crown pedestal. Frankly, it reminded him of a wedding but he didn’t say anything about it.
A minute later, a man came in and opened the doors and mentally, Felix thought 3…2…1…
Bam! The doors flew open and Snow White was in the center. She took a careful walk toward the pedestal and every aristocrat and peasant was watching her. She didn’t take glances at them though, she could only see them out of her peripheral vision. Prince Felix had joined them in the crowd and she silently wished that he would be here beside her but she left that thought drift away.
Finally, Snow White finished her walk and she and her stepmother were staring each other in the eyes. The royal priest was there behind.
More wedding vibes, Felix thought in the audience.
“We are here today to see our new queen and princess rival for the crown that will choose who is fit to be the better queen. First, our queen will place the crown on her head and if she doesn’t fall to the enchanted sleep, then she will be crowned as the new queen,” said the priest.
Why does this look so much like a wedding? These are major wedding vibes. He literally started with ‘we are here today!’ Thought Felix.
Snow White tried not to look nervous as the priest held the crown in his hands. I’m the queen. She’s going to fall and then I am going to be the queen. Snow White thought. It had to be her. She saw the priest’s hands placing the crown delicately on Hildeth’s head. She waited…and waited…but…nothing happened. The crown’s rose stayed perfectly fine on top of her stepmother’s head.
The entire crowd was silent looking at Queen Hildeth. So was Snow White. How in the world could she be the queen? She’s not the queen, there’s no possible way she is the queen.
Felix was looking at the scene, shock on his face but in his mind, he knew that Hildeth would be the better queen. She was much kinder and much less rude than Snow White. The only thing he was thinking was that he was glad that Queen Hildeth wore the crown first before Snow White…but he spoke too soon.
“The crown is mine! It’s supposed to be mine!” Snow White yelled and snatched the crown right off of her stepmother’s head and jammed it on her own. Instantly, the rose snatched its petals and disappeared. Red glowing lines of magic exploded from it and her eyes were getting droopy. It wasn’t a violent occurrence but Snow White fell onto the floor with a bam while everyone around her was staring in shock. Their beloved beautiful princess…not to be queen? But inside, they knew that Snow White was incredibly shallow, though ravishing on the outside but ugly on the inside.
The crowd dispersed as Snow White was carried by one of the guards into a glass coffin. Her perfect eyes were closed and her red lips were eternally stuck in a closed formation. Her dress was still on her when she was lifted inside, its azure color looking much less bright.
This moment was never captured in the history books. No, her story became a fairy tale about how her vile, black-hearted stepmother poisoned her with an apple and then she fell into pure white flowers supposedly as pure as her soul. But no, stepmothers are vile and evil according to all of the storybooks. Not this time. Not this time.

Protect
Prince Felix saw that the townspeople didn’t want to bury her in the ground. After all, she was only sleeping and she was too beautiful to put in the ground so they ended up placing her in the main hall very visible in the middle of it. As her friend for more than half a decade, he thought it was very gross placing practically a sleeping corpse in the middle of the room but nope, that’s what they did as the peasants hauled her glass coffin into the middle of the room. He knew he wasn’t the only one who thought it was weird. The new queen herself protested against it but she couldn’t ignore the townspeople’s cries so she did it. But seriously why?!
Everyday he was forced to look at Snow White’s cold, pallid face and it gave him shivers. Yes she was rude and incompassionate but surely she didn’t deserve to be locked in a coffin and left to die sleeping forever?
He had no idea whether there was a way to bring her back. After all, he was mostly just a regular peasant boy the most of his life, he didn’t have access to legends like these.
He didn’t know that Hildeth herself was having the same thoughts.
Queen Hildeth was not a malicious person and she doesn’t want Snow White to stay in that hall forever. Even if she was thinking for completely selfish reasons, she did not want a body in her castle for the end of its days. Frankly, she thought that her subjects were much too shallow to suggest something of the sort.
So, she asked her mirror. “Mirror mirror in my hand, how can I get Snow White to stand?”
“Take out the thorn that is implanted in her finger and she will awake once more,” said the mirror.
That night, Queen Hildeth opened the glass coffin and inspected her stepdaughter’s finger. Sticking out, there was a little prick that looked identical to the ones that covered the crown. She felt it very strange to be holding a corpse’s hand but she held it up and, without having to worry about her stepdaughter’s pain, yanked the thorn out and just when she did so, the corpse rose up, opened her eyes, and made a giant, dramatic sigh as awoke. “I’M MEANT- Wait where am I?”
“You’re in the main hall in a coffin,” said her stepmother simply. “Now get up, I had to touch your hand to take out the thorn.”
“Wait, you’re wearing the crown now? I’m not queen?!” Snow White shrieked and hit her hand against the glass, causing it to shatter.
“Don’t get yourself in a fit. You’re still the royal princess and you get to have servants falling over your feet. Now it’s already probably midnight at the moment so I recommend you stand up and follow me to your quarters.”
“Follow you back to my quarters? I really should be queen. You were just a substitute for my dead mother when my father pick-”
“If you should be queen then why did the crown pick me then?” interrupted the queen.
Snow White couldn’t answer for a second. “The crown must be defective.”
“The crown allowed both your mother and father to take the throne. Are you saying that the crown was wrong to choose them?”
“No!” Snow White yelled. She was struggling to think of a comeback. “I know that I’m supposed to be queen but you stole my crown from me!”
“Look, we can discuss tomorrow morning but please just head back to your room-”
“NO!” Snow White was breathing heavily as she stared at her stepmother with hard eyes. “I need time to think. I-I-I won’t be coming to my quarters.”
“Then where will you go?”
“…I don’t know. Somewhere I guess.”
Queen Hildeth was slightly worried. It wasn’t like her stepdaughter to sacrifice her life in the castle just for a petty argument. Then again, this argument was more important than all the other previous ones…”Then go. I’ll send one of my huntsmen to escort you.”
Snow White was about to protest but in a few minutes, a man had already entered the hall. She sent her a glare before she left the castle. She was still in the gown that she was wearing during the gift ceremony and there were layers of dust on the bottoms of it. Snow White tried not to make a face walking over the gravelly layers of dirt on the ground.
“Where do you want to go miss? Once you’re there, I have a bag of coins from Her Majesty that she will lend you,” said the huntsman. From what Snow White could see, he was at least 40 years old with a grizzly beard with tatters of clothes and a bow and arrow on his back.. An average huntsman. Nothing special.
“I ummm can you leave now?” asked Snow White.
“Now? But you’re in the middle of the woods!” Said the huntsman. Snow White found it a bit touching that he would think so but she shook her head. “Just hand me the coins and you can be done with me. I’ll be fine on my own.”
“Very sure?”
“Yes! I’m not deluded, you know!” Snow White snapped and the huntsman recoiled but quickly recovered his indifferent posture. “Very well.” He took the bag of coins and dropped it into her open hands. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
“Of course I do,” Snow White snapped again and the huntsman left her…all alone…in the woods. Stupid me. It was strange thinking something like that. She didn’t usually think thoughts like that. Maybe before her mother died…
The woods seemed so threatening. The trees were too tall and they towered in front of her with patterns that looked like creepys talking eyes, looking at her at every corner and she could hear birds not tweeting but crowing and there were animal sounds everywhere…
The animal noises weren’t threatening of course. She felt right at home but it was the trees that were creepy. They were so tall but at least she could see helpful crows making their nests and calming the wild savages. Squirrels were hiding their nuts and deer were walking on the floor and it made the forest look less malicious. Taking in a deep breath, she took steps upon the floor trying to escape the dreaded woods.
It felt like she had been walking forever until she spotted something in the distance. It looked like a roof but she wasn’t sure. If it was any hint to civilization, then she would take it. Snow White quickened up her pace and then she could see that it was a roof. It was actually a little cottage in the woods.
Why in the world would they sacrifice their castle to live in the woods? Snow White thought but then realized she’s one of the only people to live in a castle. Hmm. But still, with all of this dirt-
She had a small instinct to open the door and stalk everything but even she had her morals. She couldn’t just go in there.

The
Once again, we came back from our latest trip. Exchanging with one of the further queens of the Kingship a very rare diamond was definitely one of our best hauls yet. It was sitting right in Tuesday’s backpack but we heard a rustling coming from our cottage.
We had ourselves on alert. We made our footsteps as silent as the wolves that would stalk their prey. Of course, we weren’t sure whether what we heard was prey or not but just to make sure.
We were sneaking quietly and we saw a glimpse of whatever it was…it appeared to be a person. We all turned our heads and we could see it was a young woman outside our cottage. She seemed to be waiting for…us we assume?
“Who’s there?” Wednesday asks and the woman flinches. “I’m Princess Snow White and I’m here to-”
“Princess Snow White?” A chorus of murmuring explodes between us and we are all talking to each other in whispers. So many years ago we heard about her birth and so many years ago since we thought that she would change the world…evidently not.
“And what would you like to discuss with us?” Friday asks.
“I…I would like to share a home temporarily until I can get myself in a more…” She kicked a twig away. “Suitable…living space.”
All of us narrowed her eyes. We all huddle up again.
I don’t want another one of them living in our humble abode. Said Thursday.
I mean our cottage is already a bit small as it is. Wednesday pointed out.
But she’s Princess Snow White! Don’t you remember when we all agreed that she was going to change the world some day? Tuesday thought.
We need to think of a solution quickly. We can’t keep her waiting long, Saturday interrupted.
Saturday’s right. We know and agree that she’s very important. Correct? Sunday said.
Every one of them agrees.
But we can’t be sure that she has to be here with us. Friday says.
But we can keep an eye on her. She doesn’t seem like it would fit to let her mingle with all of the other people…not sure that would end well. Wednesday said.
How about we let her stay for a week…but on one condition.
“You have to do all of the chores,” I announced.
“Chores?! I’ve never done chores before, I always have servants to-”
“Or you can go into the woods by yourself. It’s your loss,” Tuesday added. We all could see that she was looking at us with disgusting looks because of our ugly, misshapen faces and our miniscule height. They all judge us like this. We don’t expect any different. But we could see that at least she had a granule of common sense as she let the information set in.
“Very well. I will do the um chores for you,” the girl said. She was trembling as if the mere thought of doing chores was terrifying. How spoiled. We’ll have to get her right or she won’t last a day in our house.
“Now come,” says Friday. “We’ll have to get you out of that dress of course-”
“What why?! This is one of my best dresses, I really can’t throw it away!” Snow White burst out and Thursday rolled his eyes.

Thank yous!!!!

Hello fellow campers, leaders, other friends, and miscellaneous stalkers! It’s Lily here, with some thank you notes! I sincerely apologize if didn’t include you, or if I didn’t write as much for you as other people. I tried my best to write down as much as I could, but my memory is certainly not perfect!

Faer: Gosh, where to start? Faer, you’re one of the best leaders I could have ever asked for! You always care for your cabin and make sure to check on everyone. I admire your massive vocabulary, and your writing is simply beyond extraordinary! I also love how easy it seems for you to come up with storyline plots. All of your ideas are amazing, and it’s so refreshing to see all of our jumbled and half-crazed thoughts flow into a coherent storyline. Your talent, dedication, innovation, and hard-working spirit makes you one of the sweetest people to work with. It was such an honor to co-lead under you, and I certainly learned a lot. Thank you so much for gifting me with this wonderful experience, and all of these beautiful memories! <33

Elfie: Ahhhhh Elfie, you are such a legend, and so sweet. It’s astonishing how much you’ve read, and how many cool ideas you have! Your passionate and witty self truly makes you an amazing person to co-lead with. You are so talented, and your poetry is amazing! I will certainly never forget our November 2021 session, and all the memories we’ve made along the way. It was so refreshing to be in the same cabin as you, and I enjoyed every second of it! Your inspiring perspective and psychological tangents are crazy good, not to mention your writing as well. I can’t thank you enough for all you have done.

Zai: Wow, Zai! It seems I can’t stop thinking of compliments for you. You are such an amazing friend, with the most comforting sense of humor and amazing writing! I love how you take initiative and dedicate so much time to SWC! You’re written so many words this session, it’s actually crazy! You seem so determined and motivated, I can’t help but admire you. You always push me to help others and improve my writing, not to mention your coding skills! Every time I look at your code, I can’t help but smile at how genius it is. You always manage to put a smile on everyone’s face, and you’re crazy active! You’re also so easy to talk to and co-lead with. Thank you so much for all you have done for Dystopian and SWC, and I hope we can talk more in the future! ^^

(Co)hosts/(Co)leaders: Thank you so much for all you have done for SWC! SWC would not be what it is today without you guys, and for that I am truly grateful. You guys are all amazing and wonderful people, and I hope to see you progress further in your writing!

Jess: I wish I could have talked to you more, but from what I remember, you are such a wonderful camper! You contributed quite the amount of words, and even passed your word goal (alas, the same can’t be said for me :’|)! I hope you had an absolutely amazing time this session, and I hope to see you next session! <3

Purvi: Ahhh, Purvi, you are so sweet and amazing! It’s crazy how active you are, writing more words than a good chunk of the people in Dystopian. You seem so passionate about writing, and I truly appreciate how many dailies/weeklies you have done. Thank you so much for contributing a lot to Dystopian, and it wouldn’t be the same without you! You seem to juggle life and SWC so effortlessly, and I admire you for that. Thank you for brightening my day and putting a smile on my face!

Ivy: Ivy, when it comes to you, I’m simply lost for words! You seem to write so much in such a little time frame it’s crazy! I could never dream of writing as much as you do (I procrastinate wayyyy to much lol). I also can’t help but love how much you interact with others and comment. Not to mention, you even finished your novel!!! I’m so proud of you, seeing as I have only ever finished one novel, and it was only like four thousand words (o.0). That doesn’t even compare to the monumental amount of planning, editing, and effort that went into your writing. I’m sure it took such a long time, but I’m so happy that you stuck it through and finished it! It’s a shame you couldn’t participate in cabin wars, but I still cannot thank you enough for all you have done for SWC. <33

Kenna: Ahhaah Kenna, you are definitely one of the most active campers in the whole entire Dystopian cabin! I love how you take initiative and try to motivate others. You’ve also written so many words! I can only imagine how many points you’ve gotten for us. It’s truly a gift to have you as a camper, and thank you so much for trying to be friendly and motivate others. You are an amazing team player, and have done so much for this cabin as a whole.

Ducky: I love your nickname Ducky, but your Dystopian profile pic is even cooler! You did so well for this being your second session, and it was an honor to have you in the cabin! Thank you so much for doing all the weeklies/dailies you did, and for participating as a whole. You are one of those campers that is easily memorable! <33

Ayid: AHahhahah Ayid you are amazing and soo cool and awesome and are like really dedicated! You are definitely up there with one of the campers who have written the most words! When Cabin Wars comes around, you are one of the go to campers that I know I can count on. You seem like you love SWC and are willing to dedicate so much time to it! You are so friendly and your writing is just wowoww. Your teamwork and crazzzyyy activeness really pushed Dystopian forward! Thank you for all the wonderful memories, and I hope to see you next session!

Recca: Ohhhhh! Another super active camper! You’ve written a lot of words this session, and even passed your word goal! Thank you so much for helping out during Cabin Wars, and being a really dependable and faithful camper! I can count on you to be active and write words, and you always interact with others in the cabin! Overall, I’m sure you are an amazing writer and person, and I’m so happy I got to lead you this session! You are an absolute gem, and I hope you never forget that!

Violet:
Thanks for all the words you contributed! It’s been an honor to lead every single one of you. I’m sure you’re a really sweet and wonderful person, and I hope to see you next session. Maybe we could talk more, but regardless, I just wanted to say thanks. By the way, I like your short username because of some reasons regarding the memory book o.0

Rosemary: Goshhhh Rosemary I feel like I could write a page of bullet points on how amazing and wonderful you are! You are such a gem of a camper, and you’ve been one of the most dedicated campers in the whole cabin! You’re like one of ~10 campers who were active from the beginning all the way till the end! I appreciate all the work and time you have put into Dystopian, and I’m sure the points you have racked up have contributed a lot to SWC. I was going around writing thank yous for the most active campers, because I felt like that would be the easiest. I was kind of jumping around and so I wasn’t really paying attention, and then I realized I hadn’t written anything for you yet and I was like “oh my god what i completely forgot about rosemary!” Probably because I was so used to seeing equestrian5810 xD

Lux: Woww Lux, you’ve written more words than a lot of people here hehe. Thanks for every single word you’ve put your time into (and your profile picture is also really cool)! We’re even in the same time zone, and you passed your word goal! Your work and determination is truly acknowledged. Again, thanks for all the time you put into this session!

Darby: I remember you were one of the people who I invited to Dystopian, so I suppose my memory of you is more prominent. I wanted to just say thank you for simply being in Dystopian. You being there already makes my day better, and I commend you for that! Also, thank you for all the beautiful words you’ve written!

Rose: Rose, you are such a sweet and wonderful camper! You interact with others in the main cabin all the time, and are active all the way to the end. It’s so wonderful to have you as a camper, and I appreciate every single point you have earned for Dystopian! Your words encourage others and put a smile on people’s faces. Not to mention your writing is phenomenal! Thank you for this incredible session!

Peachy: Thanks for being an amazing camper! I wish I could have worked more on SWC, but I’m thankful for all the people that were with me this session. It’s truly been an incredible month, and I wanted to thank you for it.

Willow: You honestly seem like such a cool and genuine person! I appreciated all the work you put into SWC, and while I wish I could have gotten to know you better, I hope you know that I am still grateful for all you did.

Bee: Thank you for being there in the beginning and just being in Dystopian in general! Every single camper counts, and you are certainly no exception! I wish we could have talked more, but I hope to see you next session!

Claire: Claire, you seem really cool, creative, and inspiring! I hope you progress further and your writing, and I hope you had a fun time in SWC! Even if I didn’t talk to you that much, I can still acknowledge you as a camper and your writing. Thanks for being in Dystopian! ^^

Starr: Starr, you are such an amazing and dedicated person! You even passed your word goal and wrote more words than me ahaha. Plus, you were one of those people who were active from the beginning all the way until the end, so I can’t help but be thankful for your determination and resilience! You are really innovative and your writing is absolutely amazing! Dystopian wouldn’t be the same without you <33

Sea: Thanks for all the words you’ve written! 8k words is not a small feat. I remember you from November, and you seemed genuinely sweet and creative! I appreciate you for being there in general and being in Dystopian! I hope to see you again sometime, and see your writing improve!

Nights: Yayayay another super active camper! I remember how super crazy active you were! You contributed so many words for Dystopian, including being there for Cabin Wars and so many other times. You even passed your word goal, and we’re in the same time zone so that’s cool! I remember you always added words in big chunks, so everytime I added your words I was always amazed at the sheer amount of them! You truly have written so much this session, and I just want to thank you again for the incredible memories. SWC is over, but I hope to see you next session!

Cae: Thank you so much for being one of the more active members, even towards the end when activeness began to sort of die off! It’s truly appreciated that you continued to contribute towards our cabin all the way until the end, and Dystopian really benefited from you! You were also fairly active during cabin wars and always included your new total while word adding!

Misty: Okokok you are so cool and active and faithful! Misty, you’re one of the coolest and move active campers in Dystopian! You have written so many words and racked up a lot of points for the cabin. I see your comments in Dystopian all the time, and I love your humorous comments! This has been a phenomenal experience, and I’m so happy I got to lead you! I hope you remember how amazing and beautiful you are, looking forward to next session <33

Kiki: I love your nickname and profile picture! You seem so cool and awesome and beautiful and genuine! Wishing you the best in any of your future endeavors! Maybe you’ll be here next session <33

Atlas: Your username is really cool! I’ve seen you interact with others at times, and I appreciate you logging in and participating! Hopefully we can talk more next time!

El: Talk about an active camper! Honestly, I have so many compliments in mind for you, it’s hard to put them into coherent sentences. You are an absolute legend! You’re amazing and imaginative and have such a clear passion for SWC and writing overall. You’re probably the camper in Dystopian who’s written the most, though I have to check up on that. You contributed so much to your team in the second half of the storyline, and we couldn’t have gotten far without your help! I honestly can’t thank you enough for how productive you are in writing and the insane amount of points you’ve accumulated for us! I hope to see you next session! <3

Bxnny: I remember you as the person who switched accounts haha. It’s not something bad, but I like your new username a lot! I also think your nickname is really cool, and I wish you the best for whatever comes next!

Aleia/Elise: I absolutely adore your username and nickname! I really value all the words you wrote, and enjoyed leading you (and everyone else). Hopefully you will join next time!

Echo: Wowww Echo, you’ve written quite the amount of words! You’ve been one of our rather active campers, and I’m really grateful for that. Your writing is astounding and you seem like a really sweet and amazing person in general! I hope you progress far in your writing and it’s been so cool to have you as a camper! Wishing to see you next session! ^^

Ellie: I wish I could have gotten to know you better, but I remember liking your username because it was rather short and easy to fit into the memory book slides xD. Besides that, you’ve written quite a bit, and in that I applaud your efforts! ^^

Aro: I think you’re one of those campers I remember more vividly because you commented quite a bit in the cabin! You’re a really cool and awesome person, and your username is so witty . I admire all that you’ve contributed and hope to see you next session (or some time in the future)!

Avali: WOww Avali, it’s really cool how much you’ve written this session! You’ve contributed so much to this cabin, and really played a part in it coming to life. I love your humor and bright personality. You’re always willing to step up for your cabin, and you wrote quite the amount of words as well! Congratulations on passing your word goal, and thank you for all the beautiful memories. This session has been such an amazing journey, and I’m grateful that you were a part of it

Jessica: Thanks for being in Dystopian, Jessica! I appreciate all the campers who I have had the pleasure to lead, and I applaud you for participating. I can’t believe this session is over, and I hope I might get to see more of you next session!

jextriq: Thank you for this incredible session! My SWC journey is never short of friends, and it's incredible to be around such amazing people! You even managed to reach your word goal and write a couple thousand words! I wish I could have talked to you more, but thanks regardless. <33

Welp, that wraps up my thank yous! There are a few campers which I did not include because they didn’t write any words or introduce themself, so I couldn’t really write anything for that. I’m sorry if any of these sound repetitive in any way. I tried to make each thank you as unique as possible, and it’s kind of hard to find different words to describe 36 people (although you’re all phenomenal in your own way!). Also, I’m sorry for those whose thank yous I wrote sort of halfway towards the end, because I kind of felt tired and might not have put in as much effort. Still, I tried my best. Again, thank you all for an incredible session, and I hope to see you in July! ~ Lily

not me using the swc megathread for my /SMC/ weekly hehe-

THIS TOOK SO LONG THIS SHOULD SERIOUSLY BE WORTH MORE POINTS ASLKJDFLKSJDFDS

150 words describing a baroque piece (slight reuse from the daily, it's technically allowed! >BD) - 156 words

weekly time! I have decided to use the famous classical piece(s) which are the four seasons, by vivaldi. Apparantly, the song was landscape paintings by an Italian guy (artist) Marco Ricci. They are actually part of twelve concertos. The larger work is “Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione,” also known as “The contest between harmony and invention.” the piece was composed from 1720 to 1723, while he was a violin teacher. The concerto called “Spring” or “La Primavera,” is most popular among the four (i think) Spring is supposed to be a nice spring day, with a chorus of birds. Then, there's a thunderstorm, but the peace comes again. Summer is super hot and dry, slow, and slightly dreary. aand, more storms Autumn resembles spring, and the final movement, the “hunt” illustrates caccia. Winter is supposed to be a shivering, cold, person, who is trying to stay warm. So each resembles something and tells a story.

200+ words on a classical composer - 217 words

Mozart. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a classical composer. He is most famous for his symphonies, concertos, and operas. Growing up, he was the youngest of seven children, although five of them died when they were infants. When he was growing up, Mozart's teacher was his father, and only his father. Mozart's father also taught the children academics, as well as music. They soon realized that Mozart was gifted at music, as well as composing. Mozart also got employed at the salzburg court. Some of mozarts most famous compositions are:

Overture to “The Marriage of Figaro”
“Rondo Alla Turca”
Piano Concerto No. 21, 2nd Movement “Andante”
Piano Concerto No. 20, 2nd Movemet “Romanze”
The movie Amadeus.
Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter,” 1st Movement “Allegro Vivace” (probably the most famous)
Requiem, “Lacrimosa”
Overture to The Magic Flute.

He was born on January 27th, 1756, in Salzburg Austria. He later died on December 5th, 1791 in vienna austria, at the age of thirty five. (people didn't live as long as we do now in his time.) He died of chronic kidney disease and uraemia. But, he certainly made his mark in his time composing and playing music. He wrote over six hundred works, and learned how to play nine instruments, including piano, violin, horn, flute, harp, bassoon, oboe, clarinet, and trumpet.

short story - It technically never specified /how/ short it could be, sooo- - 140 words
the entertainer

a man is having a nice stroll, and is briskly walking around the neighborhood, not really going anywhere with a purpose. He passes flowers, trees, birds, and various other animals, of which he all waves at. He keeps walking along, with a bounce and a pep in his step, until he comes across a barking dog - a golden retriever. The golden retriever looks up at him, wags his tail, sticks out his tongue, and barks a little. The man smiles, picks out a red ball from his pocket, and plays fetch with the dog. He also uses a stick as well to keep the dog entertained. Eventually, the sun goes down and starts to set, and the man goes home, because he will have a long day for working at a circus for a day, to keep the children entertained.

the end. that was short, but it's okay because it was a short (very) story

writing about a folk song - 89 words heh-

cardigan, by taylor swift! I personally really like this song, although I'm also a big swiftie so I could be considered biased. (although I'm a swiftie because I like her songs, so maybe not? anyways, enough confusing myself.) It's folky and slow, I think it's like an indie-rock ballad. It's like, a ballad, which makes it a folk song? It's not pop, or super energetic, either. Anyways, my opinion on this song is that it's very good and has a good simile for the basis of the song.

this was also short, but there was no word minimum and I'm running out of things to say, so-

jazz writing (I can't share composition and have approval, although I /have/ done it)

112 words

It definitely sounds jazzy, and well, it is a jazz piece, after all. It has some very light and pretty quick percussion in the back. Some swings and blues. I feel like the trumpet and saxaphone make it sound especially jazzy. (in my opinion.) And some things and (i should say) elements that you can usually find in jazz music. For the second one, at first, it didn't sound that jazzy at all, but once the man started to sing, it started to sound super jazzy, and the full swing mode set in as the other instruments and band came in. Jazz has such distinct characteristics, and they all sound super good.

What is jazz? It's “a type of music of black American origin characterized by improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular or forceful rhythm, emerging at the beginning of the 20th century. Brass and woodwind instruments and piano are particularly associated with jazz, although guitar and occasionally violin are also used; styles include Dixieland, swing, bebop, and free jazz.” And this is how it all started, grew, and continues to thrive today. In 1817, the New Orleans city council established “congo square” as an official site for slave music and dance. This is a first, and very important. Then, in 1892, the first “ragtime” composition was made by Tommy Turpin, which was called “harlem rag.” Paving the way for more jazz to come. Then, more ragtimes are composed, and cortenist buddy bolden starts his band. In this time of jazz, some early characteristics were syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation, often deliberate deviations of pitch, and the use of original timbres. Over time, ragtime grew in popularity, and piano rags started to appear in print. Marches, blues, and other types of music emerged, creating more different styles and types of jazz. Syncopation and soulful songs made up even more jazz pieces, and jazz became quite possible, going onto a bigger stage. The different jazz periods are early jazz and new orleans, to the swing/big band era, then bop, cool, hard bop, free jazz, fusion/jazz-rock, and eclecticism, in the 80s and 90s. Buddy bolden is known as the “father of jazz.” Some elements that came out in jazz are characteristic rhythm patterns, harmonic practices related to, but not identical with, functional harmony, and the practice of improvisation. In addition, many components that have come out are swing and syncopation, improvisation, bent notes and modes, and distinctive voices. Today, jazz has influenced classical, pop, and rock n' roll r & b music, and many more of course. In fact, most modern music is in some way or another influenced by jazz, which certainly is undeniable, and it is evident from many songs that you will see and listen to nowadays. Jazz rhythms and harmonies have been featured in styles of music that produce a sway rhythm, like R&B or Latin styled tunes. Jazz has contributed a great deal to the style of Hip-hop music. Jazz also continues to grow and shape out with different styles so people can enjoy the wonderful music today.

HAH no word minimum :> I'll also be doing a lot of copying and pasting bc im lazy and it works so yes- (lol this is like 90% copy-pasted)

actually it's 83% copy-pasted hehe

An encounter
go to main post

I know that SWC is over but I want to share some stories that I wrote in school.

Janice just stood at the entrance. Looking around her was all her memories she had while spending with him. Janice sighed, as she slowly walked into the theme park, one that was run down many years ago. Walking around, Janice saw at the counter where the metal had been rusted, and the fresh paint on the wall started to come out, revealing the bricks inside. Janice took a map from the counter that was filled with mold, due to the many days of rain. The map was hard to see with the mold, but Janice could tell where she was going. At last, she had arrived in front of a haunted house that looked even scarier with the branches of trees coming out from its windows. Standing in front of the haunted house, was him.

“Jason, is that you?” Janice suddenly spoke without realizing. The man turned around, looking at Janice like she was someone he never met before. “Who are you?” he asked, taking a step back into the haunted house. Janice suddenly smiled, for she remembered when they were going, Jason refused to go near the haunted house, and now here he was, about to enter the only attraction he refused to go. “Jason, it’s me. Your childhood friend, Janice.”

Jason only then remembered who he was talking to. “Janice, it’s you! I apologize for not recognizing you.” Janice laughed, “I still remember the times when we used to hang out together on these rides.” Jason looked around as memories started playing inside his head. “Oh man, I almost forgot.” he racked his brain as he exclaimed. Then he grew serious, “Janice, we should hang out more.” That was when Janice noticed she forgot something, “Forgot to mention, I need to tell you something.” Jason suddenly felt excited, “Actually, me too,” he thought he felt what was coming.

The next day, Janice’s doorbell rang. She quickly went to open the door, still shocked from yesterday’s incident. It was a lot to take in… Janice opened the door, finally having a look at how Jason really looks in broad daylight. He had grown much taller, much more handsome and smart. Janice felt Jason looked more of a man now. “Well, are we ready?” Jason asked, feeling nervous. Janice took a deep breath, “Yes, let’s go for our date.”

For the next few weeks, Janice and Jason started dating and were very happy together. However, recently Janice noticed that Jason came in late and dirty for their date. It also seemed like he was tired. Janice thought it was because Jason was busy with work until one day, her friend told Janice that every time before their date, Jason would always hang out with other girls and he fell in love with them. Heartbroken, Janice felt as if her entire world was being shattered to pieces. On their next date, Janice’s heart was beating very fast. She was afraid and wondered if she should actually do it, but she must. When Jason finally arrived, Janice took out a knife hidden in her purse, and the area was soon filled with red. The smell of blood was overpowering the smell of food. Before Jason knew, he fell on the ground, dead.
