Edge has this weird gap between the navbar and the bookmarks bar on a lot of websites:

Chrome and Firefox don't do this:

Does anyone else have this issue?
Chromium's layout engine likes to create gaps in places where they don't belong. The reason this specific example happens in Edge but not in Chrome is probably Edge's toolbar being slightly taller.

The forward button is now hidden when there is no page to go forward to. I don't like that because
  • the back button doesn't behave like that,
  • no other browser has this “feature”,
  • it causes the address bar and refresh button to move when going to a different page,
  • it's confusing. If an option is disabled, it's obvious that it will become enabled when it's possible to use it, but if it's hidden, people will think it disappeared.

That's exactly what happened to me; I got really confused the first time I realized it wasn't there, and I thought it was disabled so I tried to find the settings to re-enable it.

At that rate, why not just click on “content off” and disable the content?

I normally have it turned off, but I figured I'd show that Edge can do exactly the same thing that QuantumScratcher described.

If you use Edge for ONLY viewing PDFs might as well just install a PDF reader. and uninstall edge.. that's bloatware. It's only used for downloading another browser…

Firefox, Chrome, and Edge all support reading PDFs at most people in the ATs probably use one of those 3. There's no point in getting a separate PDF viewer (especially since Edge's has the most features)

For some reason clicking on any text on Edge will show the text editing bar… does this happen for anyone else?

Signatures are the only place where assets links still work.

It happens on my Father's PC but no-one else in my family has it.

Nothing here.

This thing?

You can disable it in settings:

Or do you mean the cursor?

Yes, that's called the cursor. In that case, I'm not actually sure how you would fix it.

That's called a caret, (the cursor is the thing your mouse moves) and you might've accidentally enabled a mode called Caret Browsing (I had the same problem on Chrome for a year and only a few weeks ago I got to know what it was)

The way you turn it off is by pressing F7 - https://softwarekeep.com/help-center/what-is-caret-browsing-in-windows-10
Microsoft Edge only allows you to toggle caret browsing on and off with the F7 key. Try pressing it on your keyboard, or use the on-screen keyboard provided by Microsoft to be able to turn this feature on.

It was indeed Caret Browsing, thank you!
