Get rid of the make cloud variable checkbox.

bumping because it seems to have disappeared when the topic got merged.. bit annoying that the few points listed in the OP of this topic are completely different and the topic was made in a different time, but hopefully people will read my post. i think some of my points i listed may change some people's opinions.

by now I'd rather have cloud data fixed, but if that never happened, maybe just have a warning whenever you turn it on. If it barely works at all, it's best to not act like it works at all and have people be surprised if it does.

edit: it's crazy that your suggestion got merged into one that I probably made because I was tired of cloud data being broken for years, but I guess it fits good enough to make sense

Earlier I didn't support, but now I do. I agree with Jeffalo's points, and cloud data should be removed.

To avoid the thing that happened after the studio updates, the Scratch Team should not make an announcement; they should just remove the cloud variable checkbox. Not many people will notice it then.

Remember the forums after the studio update? Imagine that, but worse, for a problem which many have not experienced.
Also, removing features and replacing them with worse features is just the same as removing features and not adding new ones. User variables and local variables can only be used for saving data, and multiplayer blocks can only be used for multiplayer.

Test how good your computer is at doing math. 3DS and Wii U online after shutdown.

User and local variables can do something cloud variables can't (because of their limits, cloud variables aren't practical for storing per-user data).

I agree with jeffalo about this. Cloud variables have very limited functionality and a lot of code is required to do anything more than a high score counter with them, so removing them would not make Scratch much worse, but it would allow the developers to work more on actually useful things.

Nope, that would make things 100 times worse. When the users notice that the checkbox isn't there, everyone will question it;

-Did they move it to somewhere else?

-Why can't i find the cloud variables?

-Did they really remove it?

-Why the multiplayer projects arent working?

And waste their time trying to find what really happened. And when they do find it, that's the worst part;

The ST said the reasons about why they made restrictions to studios on the announcement but a lot of people still disagreed. Even if some people agree with the reasons about why cloud vars are deleted, there would still be a chaos.

The pros of cloud data outweigh the cons, punish the few not the many.

It is not broken and a huge leap to the features. Removing this feature would make me irritated. Eventhough it is not working fully well it is not a problem. Let it be there.
If you don't like the feature much don't use it. But i feel all the attempt i have done in storing cloud variables just work fine. especially for high score systems.
