(Jade): Okay, let’s start with an easy one. {shuffles cards in hand} What’s your favorite movie and why?
(Kat): well, I really love Frozen 1 & 2, but overall, I think it'd be the Atlantis movie that disney made.
(Jade): And why did you like those movies?
(Kat): Well, Frozen 1&2 are mainly because my entire elementary school life was full of Elsa and Anna, and because I watched them so many times I can analyze the characters and their actions. Atlantis is because it's an action movie and they don't go too hard on the romance. It also has a severe nerd as a main character, and while I'm not THAT big of a nerd, I love seeing the nerdy ones onscreen or in books. it's also sci-fi which is one of my favorite genres {smiles}
(Jade): {changes card} Do you have a favorite book?
(Kat): well, not really. I have a lot of favorites, encompassing kotlc, pjo/hoo, tkc, the green ember, and redwall. right now, though, I feel that the book Grounded for all Eternity is my favorite, though it could change anytime. you should check it out!
(Jade): Okay, maybe I will! {writes something down} Who wrote it and why do you like it so much?
(Kat): {grins} It was written by Darcy Marks. I think it's his debut novel! I love it because it takes the stereotypes of heaven, and h3II and fallen angels and toys around with them. it's a bit slow, seems like weeks in the book when it's really only an hour, but it's worth it and I feel like the author did a great job. the cover is also crazy good!

As interviewee:
(Kat): Hey there! It's good to see you. shall we start? {flips through book covered in doodles} If you were any fictional character, who would you be?
(Jade): Hello! {grins} It’s good to see you, too! If I was any fictional character, I would probably be {pauses, thinks} Ron Weasley from Harry Potter. We both like to tell jokes. And eat! {chuckles}
(Kat): Ron Weasley is one of my favorite Harry Potter characters! {looks down at list} speaking of Harry Potter, which one was you favorite book? and have you seen the movies? I've heard they were pretty iconic!
(Jade): My favorite Harry Potter book {pauses} that’s a hard one. Hmm. Maybe the last one, Deathly Hallows. And I have watched the movies, although the books were better {smirks}
(Kat): {laughs a little} they always are, aren't they? by the way, have you ever seen a movie that was better than the book?
(Jade): {chuckles} Yeah, pretty much. Although I recently watched all four Hunger Games movies, and I have to say, I think they were better than the books. Mainly because they changed the ending, or subdued it, sort of, and everyone who has read the Hunger Games book series knows that the ending of the last book was absolutely terrible {giggles}
(Kat): {tents fingers} I've never read the Hunger Games before, is it good? and would you recommend reading it?
(Jade): The first and second book are pretty good, though I have to admit I think the first one is better. The last one just kind of falls flat at the end, so it’s sort of disappointing. It also focuses more on the main character’s, Katniss, love interests since there’s a love triangle. I like the first one better since it focuses more on the plot, which is pretty interesting considering that it takes place in an arena full of teens who are trying to k!ll each other. But I would recommended it! It’s really well written and pretty interesting, although it is considered young adult. If you ever do decide to read it, make sure to tell me if you’re on Team Gale or Peeta {smirks}

Part 2: Monologues/Speeches

(Partner): I took a deep breath and started to talk. “So you’re asking me why I’d do that. Well, first of all, your little detective business is very… low-quality. I hired you to solve a case a year go, now what? You’re working on another case? Second, this city is corrupt. The president here is a man who disrespects people like me, people who deserve to have rights after fighting for our country.
(Me): “Third, all of this work leaves me with no time to spend with my family (or myself) at home. My work has me there until about ten o’clock at night, when my children and wife have already gone to bed. What’s more is that these troubles keep me up at night, so I can never fall asleep or think about anything other than how to solve this case and whether or not I should fire an employee. It’s ridiculous!”
(Partner): I look at my coworker's surprised faces and grinned. They only knew a fraction of what I had been holding back. “Another thing you all don't know is something about Mr. Price. You all think he's a great man who managed to make money off his singing talent. You don't know he's a fake. All of his songs were made by me, and he threatened to do bad things to me if I revealed the truth.
(Me): “Mr. Price didn’t even think about crediting me for his songs. He just decided that one day all of my talent had been used and up, and he left, taking my songs with him. He knew that his singing talent would make the world believe of his marvelous songwriting skills, so he decided to steal everything from me in his name. But I’m done hiding.
(Partner): ”I'm the one who tricked the public into thinking he was a horrible man because he was one! He deserves everything that happened to him. I did what I had to do to get revenge, and now I'm telling you all about it.
(Me): “Besides, he knew I would achieve my vengeance one day. And he is the one who did this to himself, not me. Anyways, since I am the true owner of all of Mr. Price’s songs, my glory will come soon. Then I will be the one with all of the money, power, and be the public’s favorite, while Mr. Price will rot on the streets, begging for money. After his public image has been ruined, he will never be accepted. And every time he sees my face on a billboard, he will wish that he had never stolen my work in the first place.
(Partner): “I can’t wait to see him at my feet, begging for forgiveness, begging for something that he brought upon himself. I can’t wait to kick him away and ignore him, to see the sadness and disappointment on his ugly little face, and to feel what is feels like to do something I have been anticipating for all these years.
(Me): “Then he will realize how much I have suffered, but it will be too late to fix his past mistake. Mr. Price will have to live with his regrets and be known forever as a traitor to the public eye. My revenge will be sweet. I can not wait to live through this dream with everything I have ever wanted: money and fame. And now that Mr. Price can not stop me, nothing will. I will get to live in this haven for eternity. This moment has been prolonged for too long, and I can not wait for it to start.
(Partner): “I know this will spark chaos and controversy, but who cares? Mr. Price got what he deserved, and I will too. Now I can just leave your stupid business, start writing original songs, and be happy. It’s amazing, it’s perfect, it’s everything someone like me could wish for! You’ll regret treating me like this, and you’ll shamefully watch as I ascend into stardom.”

Part 3: Spoken Word Poetry

Gale and Peeta:
Wind and bread.
One feisty, one kind.
Fire with fire, or fire with water?

Not all fairy tales have their happily ever after.
That’s been said, that’s been proved.
But the tale of Peeta, Gale, and Katniss,
Oh, their tale is dreadfully rue!

It all started with Katniss, their lover,
Who wasn’t sure who she loved more than the other.
But when the time came,
The choice was clear:
When the bombs were dropped onto Prim,
Gale’s life became depressingly grim.

It all started with the Hunger Games,
Which happened once a year.
Somehow Prim, Katniss’ sister, had been chosen,
So Katniss had no choice but to volunteer.

There, she met Peeta,
A blonde teen with blue eyes,
With whom she was mesmerized.

She soon forgot all about Gale,
And throughout the games,
Haymitch, their teacher,
Decided to make
Their love run deeper.

It started only as a tactic to win the public’s heart,
But soon they found out that their love was more than a part.

Gale watched onscreen,
Watching their love play out.
He grew sadder and sadder,
Until his unrequited love started to mount.

Only one victor had made ever it out alive,
But through Katniss and Peeta’s clever plan,
They had both gotten out unscathed.

But what started as a harmless idea,
Soon became like a Karen in IKEA.

Gale tried to tell Katniss
After the games,
But she ignored him,
Waiting until Prim died to decide
Which way her heart sang.

She was like a pig,
And Gale was the mud.
She rolled around,
Ignorant, selfish, and narcissistic,
Not realizing how much she had loved the mud
Until it was gone.

Of course, it was Plutarch who dropped them,
And President Coin who had thought of them.
But as soon as willful ol’ Katniss saw it, she thought,
“Oh, no, not Prim!”
And left Gale on a whim.

Even Gale wasn’t sure whose bombs they were,
But Katniss ignored his pleas and hurt.

She ignored the facts,
The rock hard evidence,
And turned Gale away,
Who was depressed and desperately wanted to stay.

Katniss moved on to start a family with Peeta,
An ending that she thought was sweeter.
But she had missed out on her childhood friend and lover,
Her best bet and forever partner.

She forgot what Gale had done.
And in comparison to Peeta?
Oh, boy, she had made a mistake that weighed a ton.

Because what of the hunting sessions,
Of the forest and Prim?
Or of how he had saved her family
Time and time again.
Or when he rescued
Most of District Twelve single-handedly?

But, oh, no,
It was clearly Peeta who was better.
As soon as he handed her a piece of bread,
Katniss’ heart had been set.

Gale tried to move on, to get a new life.
He moved to District Two,
Trying to ignore his heart’s residue.
He found the love of his life,
And tried to pretend that Katniss was right.
Because fire and fire could never work out.
But he never lost sight of Katniss and her life-changing pout.

Part 4: Songwriting

Daily For November 10

Dear Kae,
What's going on in the future? How's school? Today I had swim class and it was surprisingly not cold for the first time in forever. Also, I was playing with rubber band gliders today, which was very interesting and fun. I got an A on my reading test. In reading, I'm not all that proud of my 96. As people say, as long as you don't receive a %50 on a summative test, you are fine. There are a lot of frustrations that come with getting an 83.33 on a difficult test at school, and it is difficult to remain calm when this happens. Otherwise, I forgot to pack my bag for swimming today. I was so stressed out. I'm reading “The Grimm Warning”, it's interesting and suspicious all at the same time. I also have to practice a really difficult part on the piano that includes alternating hands. In December, I have my recital and I'm not even halfway through it. Practice about 30-40 minutes a day. I do SWC some days, but when I'm busy I can't do it. So, I usually try to do some of it. I finished my weekly because I did like, 2 letters a day. My sister completed 9 in one day. We're both in Horror and trying to get plenty of points for our team.

Dear… future me, I guess

So, I’m writing to myself right now because, we’ll, I really want to know how I’m doing. Life’s really tough right now—you probably already know, since you’re literally me… ugh, this is so confusing… anyway, I basically don’t want to go into too much details.
So I just want to make sure I’m okay and safe by the time I read this. I hope life will have improved at least a little bit. That I’ll have more friends or something.
Remember not to lose too much strength in yourself. When things seem like they’re going all wrong, just think of a happy memory. I hope I’ll have made a lot of those between now and when I’m 17.
Remember all your friends from your first year in middle school and how much they meant to you, or maybe still mean to you, if we’re still friends. I hope we’re still friends, but it’s okay if we don’t stay together for the next 5 years.
Also, what’s it like knowing you’re going to be an adult soon? Maybe already knowing how to drive?
That sounds unimaginable to me—but it’s what everyone experiences.
Is my little brother doing better? Right now he’s going through, you know. A lot. Same for my older brother too, honestly. He’ll be in college by the time you read this, so I really hope he’s better.
Do you plan on continuing pursuing my career goals? Have they changed? I hope you never lose interest in writing, but I understand if you decide to be something else instead. I’m only 12 now, and I still have tons of time to figure it out.

To future me

Hi. So…

Hello, future me.

So… about me at the moment. I feel shy at school, and like sitting in corners with a hoodie on. And so of course there’s that kid who steals all the corners that make me feel less noticed.
My teacher keeps saying that he’ll let me teach people how to animate, but it’s been half a term and still nothing.
I’ve got to bike a 10-kilometre hill in three weeks. *pulls hoodie up out of nervousness*
I love writing. I hate maths. And I have to do loads of maths. Quite a bit of writing, and only 30 minutes of maths, but still. 30. Minutes.
Every. Single. Day.
Except weekends, of course.
Wait… coding is maths, isn’t it?
Okay, really every day then.

Onto reading. Wings of Fire is finished. I have mixed feelings about that; I like WoF, but at least I don’t have to spend a whole day not on the WoF wiki again like I did when I was waiting for Flames of Hope to come out.
Warrior Cats isn’t finished. I’m halfway through Twilight, and there are SO MANY BOOKS ahead of me.
I’m writing a Warriors fanfiction, and I really want to create a wiki, but I can’t sign up for Fandom because I’m “tOo YOuNg”. Mabye I’ll have to fake my age.
I really wish that Nevermoor was more popular. It’s an awesome series.
The next book isn’t coming out until October 2023, and the latest book, Hollowpox (It’s not as scary as it sounds - I don’t think) was published in 2020.

Dear Future me,
I hope it’s amazing out there! How is the sticker shop? Did you manage to make some badges to? Also, I really hope you continue the old novel. And also keep writing short stories! I’m sure peoples will love it… well, I hope so. Did your animation and art improved? Are you with your bffs now? How is the new school? Okay I need to stop asking questions- Maybe I could tell you about today or these weeks? Maybe my hopes for the future, to. I'm having a great time with my bffs! My art and animations have improved. I'm seriously thinking of making a small sticker shop… is that a good idea? I really need some advice from you… but they say I can only use the time capsule once… well I can't waste this opportunity. I hope I can help out the nature in the future, and I hope you have the power to help the nature! Alright, maybe more questions It wouldn't hurt right… hmm… what's your favorite novels? Dear me,
This letter is sent to you by me. I hope I'm fine. I am fine over here.

UGH, THIS IS CONFUSING.
How am I supposed to write to myself?

I am writing this letter in hope that I will be able to see this in 5 years. I must be about 16 now, right? How is our little brother doing? today five years later, tomorrow he should be turning 14. So big! Is he still annoying? Now that he's a teen, he must be antagonizing. I wonder if our mother has allowed us a phone yet. Are we still in the same school? Or have we already moved to a university or hostel? Where are we studying? What are we studying?

Are we still with our best friend? She is supposed to leave for another country, but we promised each other we'd visit since we're in neighboring countries. How many friends have we gained and lost over time? I know that we will lose many friendships, but that is, sadly, reality.

How are our novels going on? Do you remember that fanfiction we were writing? I wonder if I ever finished it…

Now I'm going to stop writing because the tenses in this letter are really messed up and I don't understand what or who I'm even writing to.

(Ava): Oh there you are, Wild! Where /have/ you been this whole time? I wanted to start a debate with you!

(Wild): Oh, I've been… {pauses} around. You know, eating mangoes and such. Now, what debate might that be? {tilts head in curiosity}

(Ava): How important are fandoms in our lives?

(Wild): Ooh, good question… {looks thoughtfully toward the ceiling} I'd say they're one of the most important parts of our society. And not just because of the things that they've centered around, I mean, like, the whole mentality behind them.

Ava: Yes! That's true, and I'm part of so many fandoms, I can barely count. Percy Jackson, BTS, Harry Potter, Malory Towers, and way more than one person could probably be in, but that's me. What's your favorite fandom?

(Wild): My /favorite/ fandom? Do I have to CHOOSE? {nervous laugh, pushes hair out of face with one hand} Well, I'm in quite a few myself- Warriors, Wings of Fire, xkcd, Dream SMP, the list goes on- Now, when you say ‘favorite,’ do you mean the best original work, or the best people surrounding it?

Ava: (gets more confused than Wild) Er… Let's avoid that (nervous chuckle) Who is your favorite character from one of your first fandoms?

(Wild): {smiles in nervous relief} Well, my, uh, my very first fandom- That would have been Dinosaur Train, this TV show for kids- Had quite the obsession when I was about 5 years old. My favorite character was Buddy, the baby t-rex who had been adopted by the Pteranodon family. I could relate to his curiosity and liked seeing how he dealt with his struggle to find where he truly belonged. Because I was also trying to find where I belonged, you know?

Ava: *giggles* I remember the first series I was truly obsessed with- /Shimmer and Shine/ *laughing* I got teased so much for it *shakes head* I'm going to go read in the library now, ok? Bye!

(Wild): *laughs with her* Okay, have fun reading! Byeeeee!

(Wild): {looks up from a book} Oh, hi, Ava! Back from the library, I see. So, what did you find to read?

Ava: *looks up* huh? oh! *wipes hand across shirt because it's covered with dust* I was looking through shelves for a particular book *cough* Percy Jackson *cough* like the ones they don't have in the library right now, I guess!

(Wild): The library still hasn't gotten it in? {taps fingers on the arm of chair} Ugh, must be frustrating. What do you even do when you don't have anything to read?

Ava: *whisper* I read online *giggle* I found a site where there are so many books to read, your brain will probably BURST *does jazz hands on top of head* But there /are/ a lot of adult books too… *trails off and then shakes head* ANYWAYS *stands up straight and stretches her back* ow my back hurts-

(Wild): {eyes widen} I read online, too! I've always found it weird that some people are so opinionated over whether it's better to read online or have a physical book. {shrugs} To me, the best way to read is whichever way is available at the time! What do you think?

Ava: Of course! I mean, any way you do it, you are still reading, right? I love reading for the mere fact that even if you've had the hardest day of your life, once /I/ pick up a book, I get submerged immediately into my world. Even if you don't feel like reading, you can stare blankly at the book and pretend you're reading, so that's another escape too *slight laugh*

(Wild): {nods in agreement} Reading is definitely a great way to escape the real world. Don't you wish you could just jump inside a book and live there sometimes? {sighs wistfully}

Ava: Honestly, even though living in a book feels wonderful, It has some hardships too *rests head on a hand and blows on a hair strand once* So many characters die *raises fist in indignance* Authors are Serial K!llers! It's like the moment you like someone, they die! And don't get me started on anime and K-drama…

(Wild): {chuckles humorlessly} True, true~ It's almost worst when you're the one who has to write it though. But then, would we really love reading so much if nothing bad ever happened? On some level, it's the emotional extremes, contained within two covers, that make reading so thrilling. {checks clock on the wall} And oh, would you look at that- It's almost time for my book club meeting! {stands up} I have to go, see you later!

Ava- Well I have to come too *titters friendlily* after all this book talk, do you think I wouldn't be part? Let's go!!

(-) You see, I'm waiting for the Percy Jackson books to come in! I've been waiting MONTHS for this library to order them and get them on the shelves. I come here almost every day just to be entirely certain that I'm the first person to check them out. Oh, and why am I so impatient to read these books, you ask?

(Ava): Well I /didn't ask/ *smug smile* /can't wait to brag to Fi~~~/ You're here too??!!!! ARGH WHY WON'T THEY ADD PERCY JACKSON TRIALS OF APOLLO YETTTTT

(-) Literally, EVERY day that I wait is another risk of getting spoilers, and~ even worse~ THE CHANCE THAT EVERYONE I KNOW WILL GET TO READ IT EXCEPT ME!! I simply CAN NOT let that happen. *glares fiercely* I think I need to take action…

(Ava): *smile widens mischievously* Oh so you haven't read all the books ehh~~ /this is gonna be fun~~~/ do you mind like… a /few/ spoilers?

(-) No, of course not- I mean, who in their right mind WOULDN'T want to be told just a /few/ tidbits of information by the book's biggest fan?

(Ava): *jumping with excitement* /YES YES YES SHE AGREED AHAHAHAHA I'M GONNA RUIN THIS GIRL'S WHOLE CAREER/ So first of all, which book have you read till? Cause if I suddenly give you a spoiler that Kronos takes over luke's body and you've already read that, how would it be a spoiler? *sly glance at a flabbergasted nearby camper trying not to hear their weird conversation*

(-) Only the first one? And that was like four and a half years ago? I suppose there ought to be some real surprises ahead, then! *eyes widen*

(Ava): *disappointed and disapproving tch* How could you abandon the great Percy Jackson series like that? Do you know, our fan base is the world's most powerful fanbase? We bullied DISNEY into giving us a series *another glance at confused nearby reader*

(-) And if that isn't the most impressive fandom accomplishment ever, then I don't know what is! *ignores confused reader even harder than before* But how I ask, HOW can the mighty Percy Jackson influence spread if libraries never stock the books?? You see the crisis here?!

(Ava): *blows raspberry* I honestly have no idea. If they think they can avoid making us more significant than the twilight and hunger games fandoms, they've already lost my girl. If Percy Jackson isn't available here, the librarians have done an abysmal job. I mean, look at them! *points at the dumbfounding reader while still looking at the other person* They're still reading Meerkat Madness! *camper looks offended*

(-) No, we just can't have this~~ It's clearly become too important an issue to ignore for a second longer! *raises fist in protest* GATHER THE FANDOM! WE'LL DEMAND THAT EVERY SINGLE PERCY JACKSON BOOK IS AVAILABLE IN EVERY LIBRARY IN THE COUNTRY!!! WITH THE MOST POWERFUL FANBASE IN THE WORLD, WHO'S GOING TO STOP US?! WE SHALL– Oh, wait, is that the librarian coming over? With the book cart? …Could it be??? *gasp of pure excitement* NEVERMIND, IT'S HERE!!! ARRIVING AT LAST!!!!! *snatches book directly off the cart and holds it up triumphantly, grinning insanely* SUCCESS IS MINE!!!!!!

(Ava): *Runs like a cheetah to the cart and grabs the trails of Apollo first book from the top of the pile and notices the librarian looking at them crazily, but doesn't care* OH MY GOD *hugs and jumps in a circle with the other person* Percy Jackson book have finally been put in the library! Now, all we need are those other series…

When the west wind turns into a breeze,
When the east rain fills up the sea
When the north snow makes the south lands glow
That's when I think of you

When a bee finds loads of honey in its hive
When it suddenly feels good to be alive
When your brain is in a muddle so you blow and pop a bubble
That's when I think of you

And when the telephone rings in a high-pitched sound
If it's not you who's calling, I'd be a little down
I don't know if you do it too, but for me it's true
All I can do is think of you

When a bud finally blooms into a newborn flower
When the droughts' are finally over with a fresh-smelling shower
of rain and then with the dew, the insects sing too
That's when I think of you

When a child smiles for the first time after being born
When you keep special clothes for special days to be worn
when you finally learn how to cook and the recipe you didn't look
That's when I think of you

And when I see someone frown
And when I cheer them up and turn their frown upside-down
I don't know if you do it too, but for me it's true
All I can do is think of you

When people jeer at you and you feel remorse or shame

How is life going for you (me)? Ok, this is very confusing, so let's just get into it. How old are you going to be when you read this? You'll probably be an old, wizened woman. Ok, AM I STILL INTO WRITING?????? Have I started/finished any amazing novels? I mean, of course I have. *flips hair* So anyways, do you still have our little kitty cats, Marlo and Tiger? YOU BETTER!!!! Those cuties are aww-dorable. Do you still love to sing and do crazy stuff all the time (example: the time I literally had a sleeping-bag dance party at camp )? I sure hope you are! Those were the fun days… but anyways I hope you are doing well! Life is going swell over on my end… and I'm having so much fun at school! I love learning all this fun stuff in math but also incorporating time to write… it's amazing! I still hang out with my friends all the time and am completely obsessed with boba tea haha! Dear future self,
I want you to read this again in a year’s time, to see how much has changed. Today is Remembrance Day of 2022. I wish to know many things about my future and I hope you are able to think back to see what has changed. For starters, I sincerely hope you’ve found yourself new friends who appreciate you at school. I’m hoping that you chose the GCSE’s that I want to take at the moment and I hope that you are still riding horses. I know that right now, nothing makes me happier than tacking up Apollo, Bluebell or Mattie and cantering across the fields. If you are still riding, I really hope you are being allowed to compete. Also, please keep playing the clarinet, I know it makes you happy to improve and you will do if you carry on. I was very close to quitting little over 3 years ago and I’m so glad I didn’t so don’t you dare put it down again . Make sure to remember me, the younger version of you who is obsessed with pretty much any fictional world she comes in contact with. Dear future self,

I was trying to think of the right way to start a letter to myself when I realized I can be as chaotic as I want because the person I'm writing to is myself so be prepared to cringe at your thirteen-year-old self while reading this letter. Okay, let's stay on the topic of age. By the time you're reading this, you'll be fourteen. Fourteen! Just that is so incredibly hard to process. I'm going to guess by the time you're reading this I'll be 5'6 (meaning I would have grown two inches.) The fact that soon I'm going to be as tall as my mom is so crazy to me too aaah. Did you join drama club again this year? If you're not still a theater kid I'm going to be beyond furious at you. No future self of mine is going to give up on theater. Are you still friends with your lunch group? What about *name* and *name* who you hang out with before the first bell? What about Maddy, Alison, Nicole, and Ferandez from gym? Zara? Penelope? I'm praying you'll still be friends (or at least on good terms) with these amazing people! I'm also assuming you've made some new friends as well! Do you still play soccer? Did you try out for the school team like you were going to last, but then chickened out because you were too nervous? Have you read any new books? Joined any new fandoms? Did the owl house finale make you cry? (I think I already know the answer to that one.) Have you finished one of your many novels? Have you finished the Lunar Chronicles? What about the Shadow and Bone trilogy? The Cruel Prince trilogy? Also, how many times have you read Heartstopper, because I read it for the first time a few months ago (back in September) and I've already read the entire series three times. Have you read any new Alice Oseman books? Alice Oseman's amazing representation just reminded me: have you figured out your sexuality yet or are you still confused? Have you moved again? If so, do you like it there? What's your snap score? It's around 30,000 right now and I'm willing to bet it'll be around 70,000 in a year. Have you made any more compilations? Have you read almost 100 books this year? Is you're goodreads book count at 400 yet? Have you met your yearly goal? What about your goodreads friend count? Have you become more secure about how you look? Are you genuinely happy? I feel like I just spammed you with a ton of questions so sorry about that haha. I think making letters to myself and then replying a certain amount of time later is an amazing idea for me and I'm so glad this daily exists. I think I'm going to start writing yearly, monthly, and school quarterly letters to myself to see how I've evolved as a person over certain periods of time. Main cabin daily 11 - letter to my future self
November 11, 2022

Hello, future self! I’m intending on rereading this letter in March ‘23, the next session of SWC. I’m really not sure if I’ll have changed much from now to then. I guess I’ll find out.
In the meantime, how’s life? And what do you think of me as I am now? You always think that past versions of yourself are cringy. You’re not wrong. I wonder - is November ‘22 me cringy? I hope not. I really try not to be, though I fail.
Are you still sitting with the same people at lunch? And if you are, how’s that going? Right now I’m not always sure. I’m really glad to have them to sit with, but I still feel like the odd one out a lot of the time. It’s nothing against them; they’ve all known each other for much longer than they’ve known me. If you aren’t still sitting with them, then who? Currently I don’t see many options: There’s the table next to us, which is full of people I only kind of like; the table that has people that seem nice but are actually passive-aggressive and bullied my best friend last year, and… the other tables are all soccer players and toxic people, and I am not interested in either of those. I guess I’ll probably be in the same place.
How is school itself? Are you ready for the AP exam? I know you’re nervous for it now… and it’ll be even closer once we get to March. Let’s be fair - if you studied more, you’d feel more confident. I tell myself this, yet I don’t study, because I seem to get excellent grades anyway. My mom tells me this is okay and everyone learns in their own way, but I think she’s saying that because she’s our mom. I’m actually kind of worried about my study habits, because I know it won’t be this easy forever.
Speaking of, what’s the homework like? Some people have told me that the fourth quarter gets really bad. Oh, and have you stuck with swim team? I hope you have. It would be embarrassing to quit a sport in the middle of the season… again… though to be fair cross country was giving me knee pain and anxiety. Did you ever get to be stage tech on that one show you were interested in, or even be associated in theater at all? And how’s symphony going?
I’ll be honest, right now I feel kind of alone. Maybe because most of the kids at school don’t like me, don’t care about me, or only are nice to me because they want my notes or I solved the Wordle for them. But then again, maybe I’m just exaggerating things.
There’s so much more I want to say, but not enough time. Let me know how the world turns out.

After winning the Hexside science fair with a project on spontaneous combustion, Miss Blight has been accepted into the renowned Emperor’s Coven training camp, where she will spend the summer learning separately from her classmates. The Emperor’s Coven training camp, known as the Golden Guild, is headed by none other than the esteemed Lilith Clawthorne herself and is the first step on the ladder to being a member of the elite Emperor’s Coven.

I bet your language is much more skeptical that the English language. Do you even use letters? I predict that the answer is no, as even in the 21st century, we use devices to contact each over. I have so many questions to ask you, this letter will turn into an interview! Anyways, dearest interviewee, how's school? Are you still friends with the girls you hang out with every day, the ones who tease you playfully, who love you very much? I hope so. How's our little cat, hopefully she's as cute and agile as always. Are you still into basketball or swimming? Dear future self,

I have made some goals I expect to achieve. Also, know that this is not some fancy writing. I’m just saying stuff. Okay, the goals now. I should be going to at least 4 (umm kinda private) classes, and be somewhat more advanced. Also, I should be getting some more knit sweaters because I really like them. They are so comfy and warm. Also, I should have an invention be patented (other people reading this, you won’t get that unless you’re me). I also should be rather finely pursuing my science career goals, unless that changed. And, I should have gone on a trip to Europe. I also should have gotten my chances of getting into (ummm kinda private). Ok, done with that. Now, let us change the subject. What is happening right now. We have settled down after the COVID-19 pandemic, but I still am wearing masks. I am participating in SWC. It is November 11, 2022. I think I am less active on Scratch (scratch link), but I still reply to comments in the future. I already don’t really do much, but Scratch is still my favorite online thing. I think you right now should have developed kitchen skills and be able to use the stove a bit more.

Dear Future Self,

I know they say wisdom comes with age, but that doesn't always come true. As you get older, you will have more responsibilities, and with more responsibilities, you will be busier. And so far I have discovered that being busy is very blinding. I am sure you will lose sight of what truly matters as you work to get through your life. Remember the reason that you are going through everything. After all, what are you working for? What is waiting for you at the end? Death? No, it is not about the destination, but about the journey. It's the little moments that matter, it's the mistakes that shape you. And as long as you remember this- as long as you fight to make every single day great, and focus on the happy things in life, then you'll get to where you want to be. The best choice it never easy. Right now, you're probably laughing about how wise I think I am, then remembering me writing this, and how I was thinking about all the reasons that you might need this someday. And now, I bet you're thinking about something you aren't happy you did, or how you went in the wrong direction-the exact opposite of the path I just spoke about, and you're realizing that I am smarter than you think I am. In fact, I'm not even thinking- I usually don't when it comes to writing messages to myself, or ranting. It all just flows out. Do you think Blackpink is gonna disband? Well, if they do, don’t be sad. There’re a billion other groups you stan. And I bet you a million dollars they won’t ALL disband by next year. If they do, feel free to cry your heart out for all your hard work you did exploring all those groups and soloists. Oh yeah, remember, there’re still soloists! Like IU!!! And new people that debut.
I hope your grades are still this good throughout the rest of the year!!! So much EXTRA CREDIT!!! Like CRAZY!!! Hope you can make some more friends in real life and on Scratch. Hopefully a lot from SWC. (Also known as: Cabin Wars.)
