"Bell Icon" next to Follow button
This change would allow for the option to turn off “What's Happening” notices for select users that someone is following. The bell would only be visible in the follow button was activated (i.e the person was following that user), and would be activated (on) by default.
Such a change would provide the clear benefit of reduced “flooding” in the What's Happening section, where the frequent activity of one user drowns out that of other users. Another alternative to the problem is having more than 5 activity notices, with a scroll bar allowing users to see older items beneath the most recent 5.

The whole point of following someone is to see what they are doing. If you do not want to see their activity don't follow them.
Nothing here.

I wouldn't say it's the whole point, but it definitely plays a large role. However, wouldn't you agree that the limit of 5 activity items is too small? I think we need something to either mitigate that problem (like the bell), or as I also stated, increase the limit. The whole point of following someone is to see what they are doing. If you do not want to see their activity don't follow them.

That would make scratch way more about fame. Following should be because you want to see their activity.

No support. As stated above, the whole point of following someone on Scratch is so you can see the user's activity. I don't get why you would want to follow someone if you don't want to see the user's activity. However, I agree that the ‘What’s Happening' section is too small. There could be a ‘Load More’ button at the bottom which would load more user activity.

If the whole point is to see what they are doing, following should be friending again. The whole point of following someone is to see what they are doing. If you do not want to see their activity don't follow them.

Friends implies that you are friends with all of your followers and everyone who follows you. That's not true for over 90% of Scratchers that have followers. The definition of followers that Scratch uses is similar to ROBLOX, Twitch, Twitter, etc.If the whole point is to see what they are doing, following should be friending again. The whole point of following someone is to see what they are doing. If you do not want to see their activity don't follow them.

Maybe if you're friends with them but they join a ton of studios and love/favorite a bunch of projects that you don't care about. You still want to follow them though to express the friendship I don't get why you would want to follow someone if you don't want to see the user's activity.

No Support, what's the use of this then?
Correct! It would also provide the clear Such a change would provide the clear benefit of reduced “flooding” in the What's Happening sectiondisadvantage of your messages being spammed with loves faves follows and projects, which is worse than “What's Happening?” being spammed, and someone can maybe spam love a project to spam your messages page, the disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages, so clearly No Support.
I don't follow the majority of my friends, literally almost everyone in this Why do you need to follow someone to be friends? I have a lot of friends I'm not following.studio is my friend, but I don't follow them simply because I don't have an interest in the type of projects they're making.
