In programming, a string is usually a text or number value. Scratch doesn't care about the difference between strings, integers, real numbers, etc. so you don't need to worry what is a string?
You should focus on improving your skills, then your collaborations will be easier to organise. my collab isn't turning out to be a success and look at all those peeps with their successful collabs and their projects I just wish I could make a successful thing on Scratch.
You could ask some scratchers you know to join your collab. hi, looking for collaborators never done this before so i need a lil help

Do you have a collaboration forum post yet? If so, can you post a link to it?
I can take a look at it and give you some tips on how to make it more successful then

Most successful collabs have very few (less than 7) members, however they must be active members.
