There's a topic for Sonic headcanon, so why not a topic for Mario headcanon?

In my universe, the Koopalings are Bowser's children; not his biological children, though. He adopted them so that he could have 8 children to fight against Mario instead of only 1. Bowser Jr.'s mother died from birth complications shortly after he was born, and that's why he believes Peach is his mom.

Should probably incorporate Shy Gals into my universe too. They throw potions at Mario whenever he gets close, which can cause different side effects depending on their color. They are also as tall as normal Shy Guys. IDK, just thought it was weird that Shy Gals were way taller than Shy Guys.

Also, Red Goombas in my universe will try to headbutt Mario when he gets close by jumping in an arch.

Mario Kart/Party/Tennis/ect is just what everyone gets up to in between the actual ‘fighting’ in the main games. Either no-one really takes the conflict seriously and no one's actually ‘affected’ by the constant princess kidnapping or the main game events aren't ‘real’ for the characters (e.g: the play theory) and everyone's actually just pals/co-workers. Or some mix of both.

Also this isn't really a head cannon but I like to imagine the characters in weather-appropriate gear when playing Mario Kart.

Now I’m probably going to make a Mother headcanons topic…oh boy, I have a lot of Mother headcanons.
And f for Bowser Jr’s mom

Mario and Luigi were two average blue-collar plumbers in Brooklyn, New York City dreaming of better lives one day. Mario was recently offered a pet ape, Donkey Kong, by an exotic animal trader, who then kidnapped Mario's then-girlfriend, Pauline, which Mario had go through danger to rescue her. It was the first ever time Mario felt like a capable hero. He then trapped Donkey Kong in a cage to avoid more mischief, having Donkey Kong's son, Jr., to rescue him.

One day while working in the sewers, Mario and Luigi come across strange creatures popping out of the pipes and work hard to exterminate them. Mario, wanting to know where the creatures come from, entered one of the pipes and discovered a portal to the alternate universe, where the Earth is a fantasy realm overrun with fantasy creatures, such as Goombas, Koopas, Toads, Yoshis, and Shy Guys, and powerups, such as sentient yet edible mushrooms and stars. Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom, where Bowser has invaded, kidnapped its ruler Princess Peach, one of the humans native to the alternative Earth, and most of the Toads were turned into blocks. The surviving toads notice Mario and plead him to save the Princess and defeat Bowser, believing he is their only hope. Mario, knowing his experience with Donkey Kong, accepts and successfully does the mission.

Mario then returns to the main Earth and talks to Luigi about his adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom. He brings him to the alternate Earth when Bowser has kidnapped Peach once again. After their second adventure, Mario and Luigi, feeling they have a place in the alternate Earth, stay. From that day on, they enjoy their exploits around alternate Earth, defeating Bowser, rescuing Peach, and participating in fun kart, party, and sport competitions, including the Olympics with the animals and humans from main Earth in the future.

It is later revealed Mario and Luigi were from the alternate Earth, which is why they have superhuman abilities. A stork delivering them as babies was kidnapped by Kamek, resulting in Mario and Luigi being lost and found by the Yoshis. After the Yoshis free the stork, the stork, with the babies, was mysteriously warped into the main Earth and lost Mario and Luigi to there.

A young Cranky Kong, Mario's Donkey Kong, and his son, the current Donkey Kong, are also from the alternate Earth, having entered the portal to the main Earth and then captured by the exotic animal trader. They returned to the alternate Earth and reunited with their Kong family. Pauline left the main Earth for the alternate one, coming across a city of humans who were stranded from the main Earth in the mid 20th century, known as New Donk City.
