Removing the "download and reupload" workaround for remix credit

We all know that when you remix something, Scratch automatically attaches a link to the original project so the remixer can't pass it off as their own. However, this does not occur when downloading a project, as it seems there is no code to signify if it was the user's own project that was downloaded, or a remix of someone else's.

I propose the Scratch Team adjust how downloading projects works, adding an invisible variable to signify if it is a remix or not, and if it is, what project it was remixed from. This would solve one of the few loopholes allowing someone to copy another user's project without proper credit.

I occasionally do things.

It would be difficult for a website to detect activity outside of a browser and inside of a folder, I think.

That would be very cool, but I think it is very difficult for a website to detect activity outside of the browser, even if it is in Scratch 2 Offline editor.

No? All you have to do is add a little text thing saying ORIGINAL CREATOR: and if its blank then its not a remix. That easy.

Edit: and i mean in the offline editor, some things will have to be done to the website too

If it can save the blocks and costumes, then I'm sure it can save a simple text tag either hidden or visible.

I'm running a small experiment, mind taking this?

That's what I meant, it would just add a bit of code (programming code, not scratch code) to the projects you download with a variable (again, programming variable, not- eh, you know what I mean by now) in the form of a text string that has the username of the original project's creator.

I occasionally do things.

Maybe just make it so the owner of the project can download and all other ways to duplicate this must be remixed (because even if one remixes and makes a copy, the copy is a remix too)

One, necroposting doesn't exist on suggestions.

Two, why didn't you just help the user? They seem genuinely confused.

To @I-love-rainbow-asmr, you can backpack the sprite that contains the intro, or download the project and import it, adding more code along the way.

It does if it doesn't contribute to the discussion

Usually, intros only use one sprite! This means you can just put it into your Backpack and later, when you want to play the intro, just take it from your backpack into your project.

i made TABS in scratch look https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/429591956/
