HELP! My project has been infected with a virus!

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 124.0.0.0, No Flash version detected

I downloaded code from someone, lets call them “gamer_guy.” gamer_guy's code was a cat with a trail effect, perfect for the platformer game I want to make. Well the moment I uploaded it, everything crashed. If the game runs, it crashes. If I try to interact with the code (which is insanely long for no reason, probably intended to lag me so i won't delete it

) it crashes my browser instantly. And all of this because I downloaded a sprite called “sCat.” HELP!- please?My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 124.0.0.0, No Flash version detected

This is not a bug, some scripts can just make things really laggy. It's very unlikely that this was intentional, but if you really think it is, report the original project where this came from.

Also, just delete the project in My Stuff.

It was intentional, I looked at an “Antipiracy policy” script and it literally just crashes the game. It's just a standard

“When I start as a clone”
“Create clone of myself” (x2)
“Delete clone”

All they did was hide that code under the real script.
Plus, they somehow managed to make it so that it doesn't crash the original project, I tried taking the code to a test project and it still crashed.

I'm not exactly sure, I'll recruit the help of other Scratchers. I also think I managed to find the original “virus” (it's not an actual virus though, it seems like a fork-bomb or a trojan. It is still dangerous malware.) so I can reverse engineer it.

I suppose you can't. Try downloading the project under the file dropdown, and re-uploading it back into a new project and WITHOUT CLICKING THE GREEN FLAG delete the faulty script.

That happens because the hacker made a variable filled with a cursed text font which automatically downloads with the sprite. Once you get rid of that it pretty much solves the problem.

This is called a tab crasher. Tab crashers use this string to overload scratch and, well, crash the tab.
Report the original project, and any others that seem to use that code, as tab crashers are against Scratch's rules.

It's normal, doing;

create clone of [myself v]
when I start as a clone
create clone of [myself v]
delete this clone

will crash, try it on a new project. Therefore it will create the clone then creating it again then deleting the clone non-stop; you have to close your tab.
It will glitch out and therefore, it will confuse the Scratch tab.

We don't know what font it is or what it looks like.

Please note that I may sometimes make a mistake and give wrong information.

Can you please put this at/near the top of your signature and tell people that tag spam isn't allowed and it manipulates the algorithm, to start a chain and spread the word? - Thanks, @EDawg2011.

But then I had a very good idea. I used F5. See, using F5 gave me a whole new perspective and I was able to see a chest I couldn't have seen before.
