I agree. It should be able to put it where. Not just:

Support. With this block, it would make everything a lot easier to display text without it being in an orange square. But it was in older versions of Scratch, and removed.

Sometimes in the editor, your costumes become gray question marks. If this happens, reload. If this happens, X-out the tab and DO NOT SAVE, EDIT, OR SEE INSIDE or the question mark will be permanent.

Well, I'm not actually in favor of these console-based blocks because of the way scratch handles output. But that inspired me to do console scratch as a project.

I mean, it's similar to a C or Python function, but getting a Scratch project to support such functions would be a BIG challenge (see my console scratch project, it's really tedious to even make the print function)
Maybe a Scratch extension would do.

A Scratch extension would be fine, but I don't see how this would be difficult to have. (Also, why do you have a return statement at the end of your script?)
