It doesn't have to be a movie you're familiar with or have seen. At least I'm not sure.

Like, I'm pretty sure someone my age wouldn't be allowed to see American Beauty but I put it on my list anyway.

I'm sure people have common sense, but I put down Final Destination as it's a good horror film (if you can stomach it) as it has a really good plot, especially the one where everyone on a rollercoaster dies in the order they sit, and most of the films end up with the characters trying to cheat death.

Anyway, I've never heard of Requiem for a Dream, is it meant to be good?

Requiem for a Dream is the kind of movie that really shouldn't be discussed on this kind of forum. It's apparently a good movie, but it has an incredibly mature and depressing plot.

Be glad you counted all of those for 97. I was born the same year, but I mostly watch/listen to stuff from the 60's to the 80's so I wasn't really able to find anything I was proud of in movies/music that where released in 97. I did hear though that the Arvo Part album “Miserere” (one of my favorite albums by him) was released in 1997 so maybe that can count. Though I may be wrong.
