1. Making you able to change colours of your homepage

This would make scratch more personalisable , instead of yellow and blue home-screen you can adjust the colours so it would be Pink and Green, for instance. This would make scratch more appealing to those who have a special preference to different colours. There might possibly be another option for a theme, example is watermelons. There could be a vary of pink and green with black seeds. This would add a little more season to it as well as making scratch more appealing. I remember when i first joined scratch, a different account to this one, I wanted something exciting to happen, like when there were cat blocks on April Fools. This would make it more exciting for everyone, in my opinion. The choice would be found on settings, possibly with a new tab called “Personalisation”. There could also be additions alongside the idea of changing the home screen, which brings up idea number two.


2. Having the home screen change between seasons

Even something as little as having a little snowman in the corner of your screen or some snow falling down at Christmas time, adding a little widget would make everyone’s day brighter. This would change between seasons, maybe some apples falling in the background from time to time in spring and a sunshine in the corner in summer, this would make scratch amazing. The April fools cats went down amazingly with everyone, so why not add this little widget? It would have to change comparing on where you are in the world, but that could be easily fixed by looking at where the scratch user says where they are on their profile. There would be an off switch, found in the personalisation folder I mentioned above.


3. You can change your username

Imagine how many people have abandoned their accounts because the name wasn’t for them anymore. This would be a waste of hours and hours of projects. Think about how amazing it would be to change your username. Tiktok has done this, and have done it correctly by adding on that you could only change it every 30 days. This would be a great step forward for scratch, I’m sure you can imagine. It would need password consent first, for security of course. Another idea to solve the waste of projects is in idea 4


4. Being able to transfer projects to other accounts.

Being able to transfer projects to other accounts would be magnificent. There would be an extra section in notifications saying “Pass Project” and to do a project transfer you would need both password consent. An example is shown below:

Scratcher: I want to transfer a project to ———-. I will click on the project and press a new added button next to remix called “transfer” which is only seen by me.

Scratch: please insert password

LATER ON

other scratcher: oh look! I have a message in my inbox! ——- wants to transfer a project to my account? This means that now only I have possession of it if I agree!

Scratch: input password

other scratcher inputs password

Process complete

This would be helpful for collabs, interviews etc. I firmly believe this is a good idea and can have great outcomes if used correctly.



5. Being able to have an online/offline widget on your account

This would be great to use because then if someone had a question about a project you could tell whether a reply was coming your way or not. It could be removable and addable by using the personalisation folder In settings.

Few things…
First, don't make lists of suggestions. They tend to take attention away from individual suggestions.

I like this idea, and I think that it would be a neat little Easter Egg for the different times of year. One thing to consider though is that seasons are different in different countries. In the northern hemisphere, it is currently spring going on to summer, but in the southern hemisphere (eg. Australia), it is currently fall going on to winter.

This is a Rejected Suggestion. That means that the Scratch Team has considered it and come to the conclusion that it is not something that can be added.

I feel like this has been suggested before but I can't find the link. Anyway, there is currently a way to transfer projects between accounts. If you go to the editor for a project, on the top bar you can press “File”->“Save to your computer” to save the project file. Then, log in on your other account, and go to “File”->“Load from your computer”, and select the file you downloaded.

In the future, it is a good idea to create a separate topic for each suggestion so that each one can get the attention it deserves. Also make sure to check the Official List of Rejected Suggestions, and the Suggestions Directory to ensure that your suggestion isn't rejected or suggested in the past.
