I only started watching anime this year, I need to get some time to catch up!

I got Kikis delivery service on DVD for christams and its REALLY good!

Night Is Short, Walk On Girl has absolutely no chance of winning Best Film and that makes me very sad. In a perfect world it'd get a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars.

Comedy, action, bits of drama, stuff like that. I have watched Initial D, it was ok imo.

I'll try and give a varied list of some of my favourites and other popular anime. https://myanimelist.net/ While the scores aren't perfect, it can be good to look at websites that have rankings, and look at some of the high scoring anime that suits your taste. It can also tell you more about each show.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Often regarded as one of the best anime of all time, I would definitely recommend starting with this.

There are plenty others I would recommend, but I already made this list too long… A lot of these are often recommended as good for beginners, plus some other off the top of my head.

Most people will cite Cowboy Bebop as the best starting point, and I would agree. It's one of the all time classics and is very accessible, as it's heavily influenced by American media. If you like that then watch Samurai Champloo as well, from the same guy and very similar as a result (probably too similar at points). You seem to like superhero movies so I'd also recommend One Punch Man and My Hero Academia (haven't seen MHA but everyone seems to love it). Ghibli is a must, of course. They have a lot of masterpieces under their belt and some of their films are very good starting points (I think you should see Princess Mononoke first and move from there). If you want to see some more artistic and weird stuff then check out the work of Satoshi Kon and Masaaki Yuasa. For Kon I'd recommend starting with his film Paprika and for Yuasa I'd recommend the film Night Is Short, Walk On Girl which I mentioned earlier. If you want to just see how cool and fun animation can get, see the movie Redline! Very thin in story and character but amazing in terms of animation and entertainment! On the opposite end, if you want to get #Deep and philosophical, Ghost In The Shell brings up some interesting ideas while being very short and explaining its ideas clearly (the actual plot can get hard to follow at times, though.)

I just watched a movie called Miss Hokusai. It was apparently about doujin artists but in the 1800s, and watching it was like being on a rollercoaster, except it's on fire and it doesn't know when to stop. It JUST. KEEPS. GOING. END. ALREADY. 0/10, looks like a Studio Ghibli movie but it's bad.
