is it possible to change the resolution in scratch games?
So basically I have saw ALOT times even in 2d games that you can change resolution of graphics. For example CS:GO you can change from 4k to 800X600
and its basically stretchers out the resolution and increases FPS a lot. SO is possible to change the resolution of scratch projects? I dont mean like to increases the ratio size.

i don't really know, but it's supposed to stay at the same size. if it was a yes, the st would have to pay more for server costs, and mobile scratch would be less optimized. are you sure about that?

Oh! I don't think it's possible. If it was a yes, then the ST would pay more server costs. Some scratch mods have the ability to change the resolution, however. oh well that have sense but i mean high resolution and low resolution

Sorry if I'm wrong again, the image would just not load.

technically using vector might improve the resolution- but I haven't tried it for myself since I'm bad at vector
psst! Hit ctrl + shift + down to see the rest!
For whatever reason mister Jon Arbuckle got removed ;-; I'll find a replacement GIF later
Anyways hi, I'm SK
I've been on this site since I was 10 years old. I am currently 15
I have a major addiction to sweet tea and draw a crap ton of stuff in my free time (not all of which is scratch appropriate). I post whatever I want to on the main site and mostly manage the collaborations directory and answer questions in QaS on the forums
I have over 2000 posts lol, a huge chunk of them being from when I was 11-12 during the height of COVID
If by any chance the post you''re reading is from early 2021 or before, please forget that post exists since it is cringey

In computing, “resolution” refers to the number of pixels used to display something.
Scratch has a permanent resolution of 480x360. You cannot change this, because it would require you to resize the stage and potentially break a lot of projects. Less resolution means less space.

Actually, you can change resolution using a mod: Scratch user @Sheep_maker made a Scratch mod called E羊icques that allows you to change the stage resolution, along with doing many other things. (Click on the E羊icques logo to change settings.) Note that this will likely break many games unless they are specifically designed to take advantage of other resolutions.

It's not an extension - and it's been established that naming or linking to Scratch mods, like TurboWarp, is allowed.Sheep_maker made a scratch mod called E羊icques that allows you to change the stage resolution, along with doing many other things. Some 3d, usually raycaster, projects have a user-created resolution slider that allows you to change the resolution, but it's not built into scratch.

If you're talking about the quality of an image, then this would be done by resizing this image to as big as it will fit the screen, and then resizing it manually to it's original size, but at that, not inside the project…

Fun fact: When you invert the colors of the stop sign and flag, they reverse.
The green flag is red flag and red stop is green stop.
See? The corners are rounded. ezgif doesn't really do a good job on it though lol it's really hard to see.
HEY. IT'S CLEAR. HOW'D IT DO THAT?
YAAAAAY
Uhh anyway- I just FINALLY learned how to post images now so now I want to use it lots.

Scratch 3.0 is capped at 30 FPS, so I'm not sure how much of a difference reducing the resolution would make.again im doing this only for targeting more fps If you're talking about the quality of an image, then this would be done by resizing this image to as big as it will fit the screen, and then resizing it manually to it's original size, but at that, not inside the project…
Regardless, it just occurred to me that the editor can actually do this to some extent. To the left of the full-screen button, there are two options for stage size. The one on the left reduces the stage to roughly a quarter of its normal size. This may give you a slight performance boost, but as I mentioned earlier, the difference would likely minimal because of the 30 FPS cap.
