Hey guys! I'm learning japanese, and I had an idea to make a japanese study group forum!

To join just say what level you are (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), or a JLPT level!

I'm an absolute beginner at japanese, I've just learned hiragana and katakana and a couple basic phrases and words.

RULES

No using google translate!
Basically, we will have conversations in japanese in this forum, and more advanced speakers or native speakers can correct our japanese! I think it would be cool if some native speakers could give us tips!
Unlimited people can join!
Keep it G rated! Only nice, polite conversations and no advertisements are allowed ^^

Also, this is not a chat room! It is a place for people to share their japanese resources and help teach others japanese!

それ わ なんですか？sore wa nandesuka What is this?

Oh I’m just using Duolingo. I haven’t been consistent since summer break ended so I think I forgot like half of what I learned heheh. May I join? I’m definitely a beginner.

Oh, so I looked into the tips, and some of them are just different ways of saying things. I think i wrote the things in informal language and you used a more formal way of speaking ^^

I think there’s a way in settings to do so. Adding a keyboard or something. Then you have to change your keyboard language to Japanese when you want to type in it. It’s something like that…I haven’t done it in awhile.

also I have to say I'm intermidiate i guess, my mom speaks fluent but she doesn't use scratch. I am NOT using website BTW my mom teaches me a bit and I have remote lessons with a japanese tutor

Actually it was at the time you posted, its noon now (I don't live in Japan I live in UNited States)

(edit: I heard that city people and country people speak a bit diffrent, since my mom grew up in the city (in Japan) I am learning to speak more like city people)

Ooh cool. I have no idea which way I'm learning on Duolingo.

I just went over some of my Japanese notes and I forgot so much -_-.

Does anyone know when to use kunyomi and onyomi readings for kanji when you're reading a text?

非公式 (informal, unofficial) ひこしき.

What's the difference if I put は instead of が?
