The Battle of the Two Worlds - Proofreaders accepted!

Alex was playing in Mara’s front-yard with his siblings, Mara and Nate. Alex had insisted on playing football, but since the other two lacked the knowledge and rules, they had finally decided on basketball.

Her front-yard was neat and clean, with red and white roses around the house. Near the fences, sunflowers grew. Forget-me-nots blossomed around the paved path that led to the house. There was still a lot of space to play, despite the numerous flowers.

The match was currently going on between Alex and mara. Mara threw the ball from the 3 pointer line, earning 3 points. Alex was leading the game at the start with 3 points to nil, but Mara overcame him, changing the score to 14 -5. In frustration, he picked up the ball, and threw it high at the ring. It circled the ring, one, two three times. And just when it seemed to go inside the hoop, it lost its balance and fell into the bushes.
“I’ll get it!” called Nate, already speeding towards the ball. He was oddly joyful, but serving as the referee must have been extremely boring. He had no other job than keeping track of the score.

Alex envied Nate, since he was getting annoyed at Mara’s skill at the game. She was surprisingly good at it, which must’ve explained her joy at choosing it to play. As they waited for Nate to return, Mara was collecting pebbles outside the fence. She had a wide collection of them, and vowed to expand it even further. Alex and Nate had thought it boring, and collecting comics would be way cooler. Imagine, they could be billionaires by the amount of comics they had in mint condition! Although Mara didn’t support their decision to collect comics they wouldn’t bother reading.

They both finally saw Nate’s head peeking through some o the tress. “Alex, Mara! You’ve got to come here and see this!” His voice was very loud, but did seem slightly far away. Alex wasn’t that sure whether he should go. He was positive that Nate was only trying to trick them, for excluding him during the game. Mara was still stooped below, collecting her rocks. Alex decided to leave her and join Nate.

He raced back to where he’d last seen Nate. The branches were creaking a lot due to the storing breeze that blew. It had a sickly sweet tinge to it, with a hint of summertime, as if the grass had been mowed recently. He paused and stared at the forest floor, discovering his assumption had been correct. He also heard feet shuffling through the plants behind him. Was someone following him?

He turned around to find Mara behind him, her hair slightly disoriented from the twigs up above. “How did you come so quickly?” Alex questioned, startled. “I ran all the way and you’re already here!” He continued. Mara replied with a shrug of her shoulders. She pushed past him, and darted away. Alex followed her lead.

After few more steps and complains from Alex about the ‘terribly lengthy path’, they found Nate jumping up and down. “You’ve got to see this!” He screamed again. He pointed to a car beside them, frantically apologising that the ball had rolled over somewhere else, and that he couldn’t bother to pick it up. It took them time to realise that the car wasn’t exactly the most ordinary car. It had ——

“I’ll ride it” Nate announced. “I’ve seen my dad do it plenty of times, it’s not big deal”, a proud smile on his face. He turned to face the car. “Oh” he said, apparently realising now the car lacked the steering wheel. Shoulders slumped, he tried convincing his friends that the steering wheel was an unnecessary part of the vehicle, and the mere purpose of it was absurd. Mara shook her head, repeatedly replying with a short “No”, at all his attempts. Just as Nate was about to accept defeat, Alex decided to intervene. “Hey Nate. You’re not the best at driving a car, but you are pretty good at driving us crazy. You should really stick to that. Don’t you think someone more experienced should do it?,” Alex said, very clearly referring to himself. Mara glared at him, while Nate grinned madly. “Go for it!” He encouraged, oblivious to Mara’s scowls.

Hi there! Just your average bookworm!

Did you know Hera and Zeus (Goddess of Marriage and God of the sky respectively) are siblings? AND they are married?!

Ok, that was unnecessary information..

I don't know what this is …. or where it takes place …. is it near a junkyard? .. maybe they find an old bike and rip out the handlebars and shove it into where the steering wheel belongs and it actually fits and works …. ? …. You definitely need a steering wheel to drive a car unless you have it setup to be controlled wirelessly or some special thing like that.

Proofreading:
At the beginning of the third paragraph, “Mara” is uncapitalized.
In the fifth paragraph, it says “o” instead of “of” and “tress” instead of “trees”

slightly very weird
