Is trending weirdly subjective?
If this is true (and it seems like it is) it was probably intended to be a temporary solution to the reshare hack, but now prevents good projects from getting to Trending. Projects that get over a certain amount of loves and faves (like over 100) in the first day after it was shared can not go on trending.
Now trending doesn't stand up to it's name at all.

This pretty much sums it up for me…

The Animations, Games tab on the explore page are now completly broken. There is not even a single project that do no use trending glitches. This is Crazy! They are not showing the most creative and polished project but rather the projects that use most of them. I don't know why the ST team is not changing anything. This is way worst then advertising in my opinion. Now, the ONLY way for a project to get on the Animations or Games tab is to cheat by using trending hacks. I'm scared that this makes scratch value more cheating than creativity. I really used to enjoy watching other people's fantastic and polished projects but now it's more of a frustrating experience to see all these scratchers cheating for fame.

It's difficult to imagine any other explanation than that the algorithm uses a follower cut-off or love/follower ratio. In my mind, this would not only be unfair, but also ultimately counterproductive if the Scratch Team want to stimulate creativity in the Scratch Community. This pretty much sums it up for me…

Its also hypocritical because they want to show the creativity of scratch then ban users who have that creativity from yrendingIt's difficult to imagine any other explanation than that the algorithm uses a follower cut-off or love/follower ratio. That’s not the glitch that we’re talking about. In my opinion this glitch is far more serious.

This is currently the most important post in this thread and I would really like to hear from a Scratch Team representative explaining why it is like this.

Did Piano Guy from RokCoder get more then 100 loves during the first day after you shared it? When you search for RokCoder those it appear in the bottom of the results? If both of the answers are yes, the same thing happened to me. When this happen, even if you scroll hundreds of pages in the explore page, the projet won't be there. It's almost as if it was NFE.

Trending Glitch
Currently found in Scratch 3.0, the trending glitch is a way of getting one's project shown in the trending category of Explore without the project actually qualifying for “trending” status. Unsharing and then resharing projects utilizes the glitch by making the Scratch website believe that the reshared project received however many loves and favorites the project in question had before the reshare in a short amount of time when in fact the project had technically already had those loves and favorites before it was even shared. As a result, the project is shown as “trending.”

I agree. If they want to do they can but it should not affect other projects but in this case it does.I don't see that as being important. I don't see re-sharing or hashtags as being important. People should be able to re-share or hashtag to their heart's delight. The point being that it shouldn't affect a project's position in trending. If the trending worked correctly then people would be unlikely to have multiple projects trending at once as trending projects are likely to be the ones where a lot of work has gone into them and not the current one hour jobs that are everywhere. Yeah, 1 project on trending at a time
It all comes down to the ST sorting out a straightforward system for trending that can't be manipulated by Scratchers in any way.
