Okay, I have my own theory about the lore of among us. The impostors are aliens who live somewhere on Polus and are only killing off the crewmates because they don't want to be discovered by humans, because humans have a tendency to drive things into extinction. So the impostors are really not the villains here, they just want to protect their kind.I have a similar theory. Earth is dying and humans need to find a different planet live on/take over, Polus. But the impostors, the aliens who live on Polus, don't want this to happen so they're killing the crewmates to prevent losing their planet.
