Hello, here's my suggestion. Add live streams please! You will probably think hey! what about private messaging? oh, live stream chats are for everyone!
What about spam though? well i have a solution to that too you can report the comment during the premiere! One more question! How is the scratch team going to prevent leaking, then? They can temporarily disable remixing, or seeing inside, while the premiere is playing. you will be able to remix or see inside when the premiere is done playing! They are 2 types of live streams. This can build a lot of excitement for the premiere! New Scratchers, Scratchers, and Scratchteam members can make these live streams! they can also implement these Twitch vs Streamer thing but only it's Scratch chat vs the Streamer, and the viewers can see the streamer play, and mess around with the streamer instead of writing commands in the comments though. they can code! It's a programming language after all!
What do you think of this suggestion?
credit to everyone!

What if you know a user is somewhere where he/she/they cannot use Scratch, and create a live stream while the user is inactive to hide it from the user (to gossip)? I don't appreciate it when people lie or criticize me behind my back, and no one does.

@Za-Chary* also said that there were technological limitations that prevent us from making this, not just spam and private messaging. Thus, I don't think this suggestion will (or can) be implemented at the time.

Thanks for your thoughts, though!

What about we scrap the 1st kind of stream i talked about and just have the scratcher vs streamer stream? it can be fun and hey, what about they make a frontpage section called what livestreams the community is loving? There could be a button called stream, just in case the streamer needs some time?

Couldn't technological limitations restrict that as well? Here's what @Paddle2See* has previously stated:

I agree that it isn't something we can support right now, because of the moderation and technical issues…the moderation and technical issues are quite substantial and I don't think we should spend time discussing it until we have more resources available to address those.

It could but, Google Docs can let you edit together, but it's kind of sad we might not get Scratch vs streamer. But i think there could be live streams where scratchers code certain commands in order to complete a level for the streamer.

Isn't that kind of similar to this rejected suggestion?

2.1 Adding users to work on projects
This would be difficult to moderate not only due to technological limitations, but also because it could lead to private messaging; for more information, see #7.1 on this list. This suggestion includes live editing (similar to Google Docs) and other forms of private collaboration. If you would like to work on a project with another Scratcher, you can remix each others' projects.

The Scratch Team is interested in making some form of collaboration on Scratch. However, until the problems regarding moderation issues are addressed, this suggestion will likely not be implemented anytime soon. One potential solution is a turn-based collaboration system for shared projects, which is NOT rejected; you can discuss it on this topic.

Remixing projects does not mean that will stop the player. If the player is to be stopped. the only appropriate way is live editing, because reporting to stop the player is wrong.

Support! This could be cool on the front page too, where there could be a new section dedicated to livestreams.

No, I was saying that live edits are rejected and isn't this live editing?

This is the same reason you need to refresh your screen to see new posts (if your topic has been in a tab for a while). Scratch does not have the resources for any live streams.

EDIT: Also, you would have to refresh a lot, and the assets in a project (especially a live one) take time to load. This would be seemingly impossible.

It sounds like a cool idea! I think it is best to restrict people with the “new scratcher” status from chatting, and making these premieres. I think you should also be able to turn off the chat. Reporting is a problem though; the Scratch Team can get a lot of reports if someone who is popular does these live streams.

No support, this would make Scratch even more like Youtube, and it isn't supposed to be.

This also emphasizes fame which isn't even what s supposed to happen.

Twitch vs Streamer wouldn't work, that's a form of collaboration, which is difficult to moderate.

You can, with some cloud variable trickery, “livestream” a Scratch project with limited audience interactivity.

If you made a platformer, figure out a way to tell everyone you're online, and then set an “x”, a “y”, a “stage”, (and also “up” “right” “left” cloud variables, if you're looking for a smoother experience than the desync-friendly x-y-stage system), then make it so you play the project locally, but those watching watch you play while away.

If you're really, really good, you can probably even cook up a decoding system for characters and then use TTS as a way to “announce” stuff to the viewers. Besides, certain words used in a cursing or explicit manner are filtered in TTS, preventing you from broadcasting… certain questionable content to the greater viewing public.

Google is a multi-trillion dollar company that can afford endless amounts of servers.
Scratch relies on grants, donations, and merch sales. Their server room is smaller than my basement.

Same here. I don't think scratch has the resources to do so

I support for the first type. I know that some animators would find this useful!
I think that new Scratchers should not be able to use the chat though, and maybe not able to create live streams either. But still be able to view them, of course.

I do not support for the second type. First of all, the Scratch Team probably don't even have resources to do anything like that. Plus, it could be easily abused - you can make scripts that clone the sprite forever, causing the server to lag for everyone.

I believe this is rejected as per the following description from The Official List of Rejected Suggestions.

Keep thinking of ways to improve Scratch!

The Official List of Rejected Suggestions wrote:

6.6 Live commenting or live streaming
This refers to some system where you would not need to refresh the webpage to see new comments that are posted. Some Scratchers think this would be convenient if you are engaged in a conversation with someone, so that the conversation moves more quickly (somewhat like how texting works). However, aside from the technological barriers this would bring, it would also put a greater emphasis on the social media aspect of Scratch, moving the focus away from the project-creating aspect. Indeed, project creating is intended to be the primary focus of Scratch.

A live stream is similarly rejected, as it is a form of live commenting. With live streams, it is easy to share personal information without anyone being able to report it, which the Scratch Team does not want to risk. Although one solution would be to have the Scratch Team moderate the live streams, they do not have the resources to do that effectively.
