Yk how scratch has collabed with companies like LEGO to make extensions, what if they collabed with a controller company
That's exactly what this forum is about.
no this post is about the idea of a controller extension, im saying what if scratch collabed instead of making it themsleves
When scratch collabs with some company its becomes an extension and they need some sort of software to detect a button press or the stuff in a controller.
We are working on that software ourselves. The developer forum can be found here.

There's no need to collab, browsers already have controller support.

The PS4 touchpad should control a virtual mouse cursor that only goes over the stage, to use it like a normal touchpad.

I'm sorry if you didn't see it, but it has been confirmed that the PS4 touchpad is incompatible with devices other than the PS4 itself.

i would love a controller controlled scratch game. using ps4 or 5 controllers or even an xbox controller would definitely be very cool.

Not sure, but the pro controllers that are used with the Switch should work.

Are you asking if Joy-Cons can connect to a PC?

This is my signature. It is not a part of this post and it appears under every post I make.

For the online version: search up “HTML5 Gamepad Tester” on google. if one website can detect it, any website could. the only problem here would be that scratch uses flash, and i'm not sure if flash can detect controllers, but there could possibly be a workaround if flash can interact with the rest of the webpage, where then i believe HTML could pick up the controller signals, then flash would use the data from that.

For the offline version: Absolutely could work, no doubt.

Support. USB controllers would be a great inclusion for Scratch, and having them as an extension will definitely not confuse new users viewing the site for the first time (as it will be hidden). However, I don't agree with some of the wording here, specifically the use of “trigger”. Remember that only Xbox controllers refer to the top buttons as triggers, whereas on PlayStation it is L2 / R2 and with Nintendo it's ZL / ZR. Instead, have it simply replaced with L, R, L2, R2. This is possibly the most simple to understand with most people when looking at a controller. When a controller is plugged in, perhaps the name could change based on what controller it is.

Noted that different controllers will have different extensions, and changed blocks to be less confusing.
Wait but How about detecting the Controller you are using?

The Lenovo Legion Go has Switch-like controllers, if you're interested.

That's an old message from the Scratch 2.0 era. Scratch 2.0 was made with Flash.

Almost any controller with the “standard” layout (Xbox, PS, and Switch Pro Controller to name a few) should work, as long as it can be detected and read by the extension.

As for Scratch itself on Xbox or PS5, that has already been rejected.
