I don’t really know what it’s like to have lower quality vision, as mine is supposed to be extreme high quality (I can see all the way down to colour pigment), so I’m not sure if I could help, but go ahead! Although if it involves changing/switching colours make it opt. please.
I mean, not to be rude, but they would definitely make it optional.

Such a great idea!! I don't have low-vision/blindness. But here's some ideas!!

First off:

Maybe make it so that a certain sound will play, if you click and hold a block?

Second off:

Maybe make the colors for the codes way different. Like for example instead of looks being purple and motion being blue, looks could be red, and motion could be gray.

That's it

It would be so nice if Scratch added features for blind and low-vision Scratchers. I have an idea to be able to turn on and off an “assistance” feature, which means that there is text-to-speech and the name of the blocks are read out loud and so are all the text boxes you click on. Scratch could also make it so that with the feature turned on, when someone gets a message there’s a special sound effect?

I think we should use sound to read the text to the blind user.

I think you could make it say the blocks names when you grab them.

Do you think you could do a dark theme for scratch? Many scratchers are asking for this option, and I think it would be helpful, since it would be a bit easier on the eyes.
Dark theme on scratch would be cool as it would help to not strain the eyes as much, I find myself doing scratch for hours and straining my eyes, scratch 3.0 has just gotten brighter and it would help to add a dark feature.

That is a great idea! It'll make scratch available to more people!

Bruh, is there anyway to disabled autosave and click save to save the game, because It gets really annoying and irritated when the autosaves came out of nowhere and takes a long time to save and I hate that it goes 1-2 every minutes to autosave. I really wanted to disabled.

Hi!

I’m a member of the Scratch Team, and over the next two years, I’ll be working on a project to make Scratch more accessible to Scratchers with low-vision or blindness.

Before I start designing and building, I want to hear about your experience with Scratch and how you think Scratch accessibility can be improved–especially if you have blindness or low-vision. Your stories, thoughts, and feedback will guide the project and make sure that I’m making changes that improve Scratcher experiences, so please share on this forum!

Thanks!

Hey Tina!
In settings, you should make a way to turn on a mode that will switch all the colors and text to your disability. Text to Speech would also be good!

I have one huge suggestion that may be more helpful for all users, but in particular people with low vision. The text in the coding blocks is now white (I believe it was black before?). I personally am finding it much more difficult to read the text inside of the coding block that identifies what the block is for, as I help students at their computers. The text is extremely small as well. I think black text against the lighter color background color of the block would work better to provide good contrast AND larger text size would make it easier to read.
