I came up with a workaround for changing your thumbnail while the glitch isn't fixed.

1. Finish your project.
2. Make the stage look exactly as if you were going to change your thumbnail.
3. File –> Save as a copy.
4. Rename copy to correct name.
5. Share with correct thumbnail.

Wow, gd idea.
But if your project already has like 1500+ views I don't think you'd want to start from 0 again XD

I cant change my thumbnail icon at all. I really hope somebody finds a way to fix this soon. And whenever I comment here, I see my new icon frozen.

I am having the same problem. My profile picture is a gif, but it will not move like it's suppose to.

I tried to re-upload my old gif but it no longer works.

That is why I have the temporary replacement in place until the bug is fixed.

How much memory space does Scratch have remaining? They have been getting a lot of projects shared, and the rate of shared projects has been hastening rapidly for a few years now.

I didn't understand step 2

Step 2 means this. So, if you wanted the thumbnail to be the title of the project, you would make the title of the project be the only sprite showing. So for example, if I wanted my project to look like this:-

I would make it look like this by running the project, then stopping it when it looks like this, then do Step 3 and so on.

I've noted it will sometimes work properly for the user page or project page, but the thumbnails linking to it don't stay updated and lag behind by a day or two. Just a thing I've seen.

I have a project with a thumbnail that hasn't been updated in at least eight days, and I resaved it each day, but no change happens.

Yeah, I was doing the same thing but when I stopped it updated in a few days. Maybe you should just wait for a few days and even if it doesn't update then you could keep the project as feature project on your profile.
