If you can't download the normal 2.0 editor, try these steps:

Download the Adobe Flash Player Projecter here: https://web.archive.org/web/20220401020702/https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html (sadly they took it down recently from the official site, thanks to the Internet Archive for archiving it)

Select the program that is right for your device. Do not download the debugger, just the projector. After you download it, install/open it.

Download Scratch 2.0 here: http://cdn.scratch.mit.edu/scratchr2/static/__ff878b6c9b6c4d18fab154a707dc253c__/Scratch.swf

Now, go into the Flash Player, and press File > Open, and then select the .swf file you downloaded.

Now you should be able to use Scratch 2.0 on your computer!

I think because it was a Scratch 1.x element and would just get destroyed by the upcoming Scratch 2.0. It for example used the user system of the 1.x site which was changed and would then have made it impossible to log in. Much more elements like this. So, it was impossible to keep it because it was a part of the 1.x era sites and would've been destroyed. Also, it never had more that 200 users (it never even reached that number), so I think it made it unattractive to rebuild the whole site in Scratch 2.0 style for just around 200 users. You might have noticed that clutter was ended in late 2012 and the Scratch 2.0 beta testing begun in December 2012 (public January 2012) too!

Support. This will make collaborations easier. I could see it being used for MAPs so that the host doesn't have to spend time compiling all the parts.

Clutter was by a scratch user, not made by the Scratch Team as part of Scratch.

It was made half for clutters, and half for testing out 2.0 features, actually.

support!, also I think it may help with projects that get to laggy when working on them due to all the sprites and other things loaded, so maybe using clutter to break down the game which I think would help exponentially
