The Universe and the Big Bang Theory

Universe :

- Contains everything that exists

- No one knows how big it is, but it's estimated to have at least 125 billion galaxies with an average of 100 billion stars each

Big Bang :

- Most widely accepted theory about the origin of the universe

- In this theory, the universe started in a big explosion 10 - 20 billion years ago

- The universe first consisted of a very hot, dense, fireball of expanding, cooling gas

- After about 1 million years, the gas began to condense into localized clumps called protogalaxies

- During the next 5 billion years, the protogalaxies continued condensing, forming galaxies in which stars were being born

- Today, 5 billion years later, the universe is still expanding, although there are localized areas in which objects are held together by gravity ; for example
many galaxies are found in clusters

- The big bang theory is supported by the discovery of faint, cool, background radiation coming evenly from all directions, which is believed to be the remnant of radiation produced by the big bang

- Small “ripples” in the temperature of the costmatic background radiation are thought to be evidence in slight fluctuations in the density of the early universe, which resulted in the formation of galaxies

- Astronomers don't know if the universe is closed, meaning it will eventually stop expanding and began to contract or if it is open, meaning it will
continue expanding forever.

i got a telescope today
i built it and it was really promising

LOL that's happened to me too!!! I've forgotten what it is but maybe a lens cap is still on??? Or the focus is off? If it's not those I really have no idea
This post has inspired me to use my telescope!! The problem is it's hurricane season and it's cloudy basically every day now :')
