@Sasha_Banks272, It might be a good idea to link to this video in your original post: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/youtube/tGwu-7jTeaY/
I don't know if this video's from the official Scratch or not. Also, please summarize this video if you can.

It says “user content” in the tos but again Ai image generation is a rejected suggestion so it’s more likely than not that they’re not doing anything with artit's ALL CONTENTdo you have proof of this?

I hate saying this, but what if we all… quit? Or better, make stuff on different platforms, (classic) copyleft it, port it onto scratch? That could possibly make a loophole. Or just force scratch to take it down.

Also, I don't want to be that guy, but perhaps it's not for them to directly train models, but to make it so that if openAI yoinks our projects, we can't do anything to stop them, and in turn scratch doesn't have to protect us. It's bad, but a different type of bad.

sadly the scratch team has barely any power (because the SF own them), so we will be stuck with this. They're not listening yet.Scratch team is. Scratch foundation isn’t.

#3052We need Scratch to listen to us. Maybe the Scratch Team can take down the flame wars instead of shutting down the whole topic.

I think that AI can be used as a good thing.AI that would use analogies and the Socratic method would be nice, but that would be generative
As long as Scratch is not adding a generative bot- one that generates games and text, then I dont see a problem. If the AI is simply helping the user, then it doesn't diminish creativity- and it helps the user.
Feel free to correct me.

UHH, if you're gonna leap off the demo vid and claim it doesn't show anything except an ‘AI assistant’, I'd like to remind you of something someone else (I can't remember who) said earlier: it created a random ah food truck that was not in any way related to the original project. The demo video is all we currently know about the CLA and it was what scratchcode1_2_3 was talking about. The ToS contains information about what Scratch is allowed to use user Content for, not the functionality of their planned assistant. Scratch may very well create an assistant that doesn't implement everything they grant themselves in the ToS.
I'm not sure what food truck that person was talking about because I did not see assets being “generated” anywhere in the video. Please have a source or a video timestamp
read the ToS twinI have already many times
also it can just straight up steal sprites………Don't see how this is an issue

uhm, stealing without giving proper credit, and even with credit, but not permission (REAL permission, as in willing, not ToS permission ) is bad, because STEALING STUFF IS BAD in generalUHH, if you're gonna leap off the demo vid and claim it doesn't show anything except an ‘AI assistant’, I'd like to remind you of something someone else (I can't remember who) said earlier: it created a random ah food truck that was not in any way related to the original project. The demo video is all we currently know about the CLA and it was what scratchcode1_2_3 was talking about. woahh, you don't see how that's an issue? I don't feel like repeating this again, but a lot of people do not like their sprites and art taken and fed to an AI? Hello? And, please watch the demo vid again, the AI ‘assistant’ literally added a random food truck that wasn't related to the project at all. I'm not about to go back and get a specific timestamp for you, go see it yourself if you don't believe me

uhm, stealing without giving proper credit, and even with credit, but not permission (REAL permission, as in willing, not ToS permission ) is bad, because STEALING STUFF IS BAD in generalPeople on Scratch can “steal” stuff without permission today. Nobody has ever had to ask an original creator to use something in another project. Only credit is necessary (or was necessary, because now people can use sprites freely within Scratch without credit, according to the new ToS)
the AI ‘assistant’ literally added a random food truck that wasn't related to the project at all. I'm not about to go back and get a specific timestamp for you, go see it yourself if you don't believe meI found a mention of the AI inaccurately stating there was a food truck on the stage. Otherwise, this is wrong. The assistant was providing assets from other projects, not generating them
woahh, you don't see how that's an issue? I don't feel like repeating this again, but a lot of people do not like their sprites and art taken and fed to an AI?Looking over the ToS again, I do have problems with:
which may include (but not be limited to) licensing, developing, and improving AI models and allowing third parties to do so for free or for a feeI don't really like that they're essentially giving away user Content directly to third parties. If they were training their own model or working with third parties in a more private manner, then I would have no issues. But otherwise I don't see how training an assistant from public code specifically for Scratch would be an issue (which is a personal opinion)
(in which case this suggestion handles things far more productively imo)
also: the accompanying Privacy Policy seems rather vague on this:
We may use AI and other automated technologies to facilitate the purposes set out above, such as to provide coding recommendations, moderate content and develop and improve the Scratch Website.I've said this a lot already, but I don't think we have all that much information yet

It's an issue if no credit is given.also it can just straight up steal sprites………Don't see how this is an issue
Also, back in the day, people probably didn't want their hard work fed to a coding machine.
