Cloud variables are down unfortunately. I don't have any other information, other than they've been down for months.

Yes, cloud variables are currently broken. All we can do is wait for them to be fixed.
Unfortunately, no one knows when they will be fixed, how to fix them, or why they're broken.
This affects every Scratcher, so the Scratch Team is aware of the situation. They are working on a fix.

504 timeout on clouddata.scratch.mit.edu is why they're down.

Cloud variables are not real clouds. They are technology which sometimes needs fixing.

“But what happens to the data when it rains” -apparently both some Reddit post and a different Redditor's coworker

then the data gets carried upward as part of the water vapor- (jk) the water evaporates into the and the air full of water in its gaseous form rises, then the air gets cooler and loses water storage capacity, and when the air can't hold it any longer the water condenses to form clouds, and that will fix the cloud variables (jk) but no, the cloud data is stored in CLOUD SERVERS, which are a piece of technology that isn't perfect. Cloud servers store cloud data, and all of the cloud data on Scratch is stored in them (cloud variable site=clouddata.scratch.mit.edu) and real clouds can have bigger drops until it rains or has a thunderstorm (post time: thunderstorm at chicago)
