Cloud variables are down unfortunately. I don't have any other information, other than they've been down for months.

Yes, cloud variables are currently broken. All we can do is wait for them to be fixed.
Unfortunately, no one knows when they will be fixed, how to fix them, or why they're broken.
This affects every Scratcher, so the Scratch Team is aware of the situation. They are working on a fix.

504 timeout on clouddata.scratch.mit.edu is why they're down.

Cloud variables are not real clouds. They are technology which sometimes needs fixing.

Cloud servers store cloud data, and all of the cloud data on Scratch is stored in them (cloud variable site=clouddata.scratch.mit.edu) and real clouds can have bigger drops until it rains or has a thunderstorm (post time: thunderstorm at chicago)
