SWC November 24 ☆ Leo's Writing Forum
WEEKLY
Leo looked around in wonder. The room felt surreal and high-tech, almost like a spaceship. He glanced over at his friend Dalia, who appeared just as enchanted. Their fascination was interrupted when they heard a voice say, “Ah! You’re here!”
Leo searched for the source of the voice and spotted a girl smiling at them. “I’m Yume! This is Mildred and Livy,” Yume said, gesturing to the other two girls. “You’re probably wondering why you’re here.”
Leo glanced around the room at the others, who nodded in agreement with Yume’s statement.
“Well, you see,” Yume continued, “we need your help to find our mascots. They’re stuck in the past. We will use this time machine and go to find them!”
Many people looked confused or upset by the news, but Leo shook his head, determined to do everything he could to help find the mascots. He walked over to Dalia, excitement bubbling in his chest. As they stood side by side, he could feel the hum of the time machine surrounding them, its metallic surface gleaming under the dim lights. With a shared glance of determination, they stepped into the capsule together, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey through time.
Everyone was divided into groups, and Leo and Dalia were placed in Mildred’s group to find Skog. In a flash of light, they were transported into a time warp. The sensation made his mind feel as if it had flipped. Time slipped away as they traveled back, and everyone looked around, realizing that nothing can ever be the same. He kind of spaced out from the sensation. It kind of felt like he was under sedation. After the nausea-inducing transportation, they found themselves in what appeared to be an IKEA. Mildred tapped a few buttons on her wrist console, summoning a vibrant hologram that flickered to life in front of her. She scrolled through the digital images with wide eyes. “I can’t believe this was only three months ago! It feels like a lifetime!” she said, her voice filled with a mix of nostalgia and excitement. She continued flipping through the images, looking for a specific one. “Skog should be around here somewhere.”
The group exchanged glances and nodded in agreement, each individual inspired to help in the search for the elusive mascot.
Leo made his way over to Dalia, noticing her animated expression. “Let’s look for Skog together,” he suggested, a smile on his face.
“Alright, let’s go!” Dalia replied enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with determination.
As Leo and Dalia strolled through the colorful aisles of the store, searching eagerly for the mascot, they both suddenly paused, realization dawning on them. They had spent all this time hunting for Skog, yet neither of them actually knew what he looked like. They walked back to where they had started, but nobody was there anymore. The two looked at each other with worry in their eyes. They didn’t know where anyone was anymore and they needed to find the others.

Luna stared at the person in front of her with a dumbfounded look. This is who’s in charge, she thought, There’s no way, he looks like he’s five. She didn’t know what to say to him. He looked like a small child in a fancy suit. “So you must be Luna?” he asked, his voice was surprisingly deep for someone his size.
“Um, yeah,” She responds, “I hate to ask but how old are you?”
“I’m 30,” He replies calmly, “I’m a dwarf, that’s why I’m so short.”
“Oh! Sorry for asking,” she replies a bit awkwardly.
“It’s quite alright, people always assume I’m a child.” He replied, his tone of voice almost soothing. “So, Luna, what do you specialize in with animals?” he asks returning his focus to the interview.
“Um, I work well with animals, especially cats,” she replies happy that the awkward situation is over. “I love animals and enjoy playing with them.”
“Good to know,” he replied, “now there’s just one more question. How well do you handle seeing blood?”
“Oh, I can handle blood very well,” she answers, “I just really want to see animals get nice homes.”
“Perfect,” he says as he checks off something on a checklist, “Well, that settles it, you fit all the criteria. You’re hired!”
“Really?!” she says with a surprised tone, “Thank you so much for this! I can’t wait to start!”
“Of course,” he says as he stands up, “So, we’ll see you tomorrow?”
