You can't ban people with the inspector (source: I am a web developer and use the inspector basically every day for my job). All it can do is change how things show in the user's own browser, but as soon as they leave the page it's all gone, and it doesn't affect anyone else.

You really shouldn't worry about this, theres only 2 possible cases:
1. Your friend is lying/confused, as its physically impossible to ban you with inspect element
2. Your friend is an epic hacker from some random movie that has the ability to compromise the entire US nuclear arms even though they arn't even connect to the internet, in that case, theres nothing you can do.

I think what OP's friend is referring to is that they're going to use inspect element to make fake screenshots of OP doing/saying bad things, like changing a comment that's praising a project to something like “this project sucks!”. They'd then send the fake screenshots to the ST via Contact Us as “proof” that they did the bad things, and the ST would ban them after seeing the screenshots. They're not going to ban their account by using inspect element, they're going to use it to edit their comments, descriptions, etc to say disallowed things.

I'm no ST member so I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the ST would check for a source for these comments rather than relying exclusively on screenshots as proof that someone broke the rules, due to how easy it is to fake screenshots.

If that's the case, the Scratch Team would almost definitely check the user's activity on their end before actually banning them. I find it unlikely the Scratch Team would just take screenshots at face value. If they see that a user is modifying screenshots, then the Scratch Team would likely take action against the person who sent those messages for being dishonest.

Ironically, regardless of whether the screenshots are real or not, the Scratch Team may also take action against the user who publicly shared the screenshots for gossiping about another Scratcher!

set [points v] to [10000000]

Just report and ignore, and use Contact Us if your friend continues, though that might not be necessary

Scratch ain't the only place clockers exist.
But, you can use Inspect to edit a Scratch project.
That said, you can't interact with the server through Inspect beyond what you can do with a browser anywAys.

Well, then don't take him seriously as he can't use Inspect to ban people (that would be a blatant issue if you could)
