That is the Mac store, not the iOS store.

or

Those aren't official and are outdated.

I know how to make games. It would be cool for someone to make a real AI inside of vanilla Scratch although it may be impossible.

I mean Apple does offer a fee waiver for developers to publish apps for free if they are non-profit
To be eligible, you must:
  • Be a legal entity with a status as a nonprofit organization¹, accredited educational institution², or government entity;
  • Not be an individual, sole proprietor, or single-person business;
  • Not have signed the Paid Applications Agreement (Schedules 2 and 3 of the Developer Program License Agreement) to offer paid apps or in-app purchases through the App Store (or have terminated the Paid Applications Agreement if you signed it previously); and
  • Not otherwise sell digital goods or services through any of your apps.
¹Your nonprofit organization must be officially recognized by a relevant authority in your region of operation. For example, the Internal Revenue Service in the U.S., a local register of charities in the E.U., or the Ministry of Civil Affairs in China mainland.

²Your accredited educational institution must be an officially recognized institution that meets certain standards of quality and excellence by an official accrediting body or agency. For example, the Department of Education in the U.S., the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education in the E.U., or the Ministry of Education in China mainland.

In addition, if you operate an alternative app marketplace on iOS in the European Union (EU), you may only distribute apps from developers who have also received this same fee waiver.

Case closed, it costs $100 a month to have an app on the App Store, there’s no way they can pay for that if they can barely afford to keep the site itself running

Apple Developer Program fee waiver

If you’re a nonprofit organization, accredited educational institution, or government entity and meet certain requirements, you can request an Apple Developer Program fee waiver. Find out if your organization qualifies and how to request a waiver.

Requirements
To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a legal entity with a status as a nonprofit organization, accredited educational institution2, or government entity;

  • Not be an individual, sole proprietor, or single-person business;

In addition, if you operate an alternative app marketplace on iOS in the European Union (EU), you may only distribute apps from developers who have also received this same fee waiver.

This was edited to work with DjangoBB's markup, Thanks to me. I'll let you guys decide if they're eligible. In my opinion I think they are considering they have a MacOS app and they own it by themselves.

Yes, I’ve talked with a friend who wanted to port his aindrioid game to apple (he has no corp) and it costs 100 a month at minimum.

Every app on the App Store has someone paying 100 a month for it

Not that 100 bucks a month is insignificant, but doesn’t it cost much more to, say, pay the software engineers?

They can barely keep the servers online with their current budget, and that budget is getting thinner by the day. As opposed to google’s $25 one time fee for an entire publisher, $100 per app is not affordable. Especially for an app that being allowed on te play store in the first place is in a grey area.

Especially because they would likely also port scratch jr, doubling the cost

They could always distribute via the AltStore.

Is that the case though? Is it really? Or is it just a figment of your imagination? What if scratch never existed, and you’re just hallucinating? All of these people you’ve met, they might not be anything more than a figment of your imagination? And now that you know this, you have to ask yourself the question: is scratch real? Are you truly on an online platform named scratch? Or are you dreaming, seeing this so-called “programming for kids platform” in a completely different way from everybody else? How can you fully be sure you’re not hallucinating? How can you be so sure that there is a real thing called scratch?

Hi! I'm qwertycodechamp90411. I'm most active on the suggestions forum and the help with scripts forum, because I like to help other people and improve scratch! I like to think I'm good at scratch, but there's a lot I don't know/understand (how on earth do scrolling platformers work lol). As a general rule of thumb, I should have the answer if it's math related, because I'm a very stereotypical nerd when it comes to math.

This article seems to suggest that Scratch’s income is growing rapidly, but I may be reading it wrong. Also Scratch Jr. makes up a very small (8%) of the total user base, so if an extra hundred dollars a month is too much, they could put that off until someone else decides to donate a couple grand.

I've read the last few pages already. This suggestion may “imply” distribution via the Apple App Store, but it doesn't specify it.

Edit: Also, my suggestion was only as a last resort.
