Writing for Pixidust writing camp!

~
The dawn air called to me from outside our cozy cave. I poked my head out, breathing in the soft smells of morning.

My brother, Kontan, poked me. “C’mon! Let’s go!” I hesitated, looking at our mother, who was still asleep. My brother insisted.

We crept out quietly. But then Kontan shrieked when he saw a butterfly, and started trying to pounce on it.

Mother heard us though. She came out of the den, roaring like any other bear couldn’t roar. “Kontan, Linda! Come over here this instant! You know not to go out alone!”

Kontan obeyed, but curiosity got the better of me. Rustling. There was some rustling in the bushes. And sounds, close by.

I broke off at a run, ignoring my mother and trampling through brambles. When I came nearer, I slowed down, then stopped. I crept closer til I could clearly see who it was.

But who was he? It was a tailless, tall creature with a shiny stick in his paw. He had matted hair and two evil looking eyes glaring around him.

For some reason, I didn’t want those eyes on me right then. They meant bad things would happen.

I scrambled away, but not before I felt those eyes on my back. A cry rang through the forest.

“Hey! We got one!” The hunter called to his buddy, and they both started chasing.

Before I could see our cave, our soft, warm, cozy cave, I was in a net, then a cage. Then the back of a truck.

I watched our home get smaller and smaller away.

“Where am I?” I said groggily when I woke up. Well, I wasn’t in the small cage anymore. I was in an enclosure with a hard floor. A bowl of dry veggies stood near me. They didn’t taste as good as the forest herbs.

Why was I here?

A day later, someone came. Like the hunter, he was tailless, but at least smelled better. “Okay,” he muttered. “C’mon. Let’s see what the crowd makes of you. Or we’ll have one too many animals to sell.”

I got up and followed him (I really had no choice) and found myself on a ring. Thousands of other animals were staring down at me. They cooed and cheered.

“Ladies and gentlemen! I give you… Star! Our newest baby bear!” The man sounds a lot different, talking into that stick.

Everybody stares at me. I sit and find a pine needle to chew on.

“Yeah, soon you are gonna need to learn some tricks.” the man muttered to me.

Everybody in the crowd cheers so loudly my ears feel like they are going to fall off. The man leads me back to the cage. “Well,” he said. “Not bad. Maybe if you get better, we’ll keep you.” he walks away, shaking his head.

Keep you? Huh? Then I realized. Humans. Mama told me to stay away from them.

And now I’m working at a circus for them.

Daily :D

Dear future me,
How are you? I am okay- I think I might be stressing from overwork :sob: I have a report due tomorrow- though I'm not exactly stressing- I am currently eating an ice-cream popsicle (yeah, I don't know how I'm typing at the same time lol) while my brothers want me to play video games with them. I should be working though- MOUNTAINS of homework- and the year's hardly begun. I have other things too though- three optional classes I'm taking all have homework, plus theatre class (which I really like so that's not really a burden lol). I also have a big (okay not that big) presentation tomorrow at school (which I am nervous but indeed very excited about). And all on top of that, SWCCCCCCCCCCC.

If you must know, this is actually a daily for SWC lol XD.

Ok I finished my ice cream :sob: but anyway…

So my future will be your past- wouldn't it be cool if you could write back to me? I know, I know, you'll have to build a time machine, but just think- it would be like… like… like I could see into the future and know what's coming. Maybe then I wouldn't be so much of a worrier :sob:

Anyway… how's your life these days? I hope you're not stressing like I am (did I forget to mention that for a writing contest you may or may not remember, I am totally stressing about the results- everybody did so good I wish to make them all first place). Also, how's Scratch? You are still using this account… riiiiight? Well, you must be, otherwise you're not reading this letter. Also, you do use my new aesthetic-set-making alt (@dolphin_cove), right?

Anyway, I'm getting of topic… I'm gonna check if this is long enough yet- one second..

Ooh yay it is- okay so…

My advice for you is to be yourself, which I've learned, helps me a lot. Also, be kind to your younger brother… (I know that will be challenging ). And also, I've learned that, well, make a few jokes now and then. It helps.

Yeah, now I really wish I had a time machine- then you could send me your advice lol

Anyway… I'm just gonna end this now…

Best wishes,
Violet <3 (also known as @dolphin786, and you )

Pixiedust Daily <3 632 words :0

I looked out over the fields, cows and horses grazing leisurely. A red barn and yellow farmhouse stood near. Beyond that, the valleys and hills cut a path for a lush river. The sun glowed, slowly sinking in the sky.

I had known this view forever. This hill, sitting in the dense grass, under a red oak tree, is my favorite place to be.

Sunset, a golden retriever, my best pal, nudged her cold nose into my long, wild, red tangly hair. I sighed, not wanting to leave. It might be the last time I did. It was hard to believe that my favorite place in the whole world would soon be gone. Gone. And we would be too.

For the news I'd received had broke my heart. And I still hadn't figured out how to mend it.

It started last week. I was in the barn, tending to the cows. I fed Milkshake and HotChocolate (two twin calfs) and cleaned Maisie's stall. I moved on to the horses. We have four- Brownie (dark chocolate brown with light mane), Star (star on her forehead), and Daisy (petite). But my favorite was Trixy. She was chestnut brown with a caramel mane. This mare was soft, gentle, and fast when she needed to be. I loved riding saddle-less across the fields.

Anyway, afterward, me and Sunset headed over to the garden patch to continue chores, as usual. My parents were inside, whispering in their bedroom. Probably talking about bills and that other adult stuff. I didn't worry too much about it.

My father came out as I was going to our garden plot. Of course, we had orchards full of things, but usually those got shipped away to the market. Our little garden was for us. We hardly went to the store; it was too far away. So most meals came from the garden.

I was scattering a bit of grain for the chickens when my father had came up to me. “Willow. Your mother and I need to talk to you.” He avoided meeting my eyes.

I gulped and nodded. I gestured Sun to follow us; she had quite suddenly decided that she rather liked chicken food.

Inside our cozy yellow farmhouse, I sat in the living room, Sunset at my side; my parents across from me.

“Willow, we have some, er, shocking news. Bills have been piling up… and… I'm afraid we can't own the farm anymore.” My mother looked at my father, who continued.

“We will have to move. To the city.”

“Move?” I said in a small voice. “Move from our farm?”

My parents didn't say anything. They enveloped me in a hug.

I blinked, willing the tears not to come. My home… our home… we would have to leave.

Over the next week, I cherished everything; my chores, the sunrise view, the animals. Knowing that they would soon be gone.

Now, a week later, we were all packed to go to the city. Tomorrow we would leave.

And never come back.

The next day was slow. Breakfast. Last-minute packing. Cleaning up.

Finally, around eleven, we piled into the car. I took Sunset into the back-seat with me. She was the only animal we were keeping.

As we started driving, I looked back at our farm, growing smaller and smaller.

I had kept it all in through the week. But I couldn't help it. I cried. Sun licked my tears. They stopped as fast as they came.

I would miss them. The animals. Our garden. The farmhouse. The view. Trixy. Even the annoying chicken that enjoyed untying shoelaces.

I wiped my tears.

The green became grayer, the dirt into sidewalks, the trees into buildings, countryside into city. All through this, I got ready for a lifetime adventure.

In the city.

Among the chilly winter air,
Sat a cottage with merry lights,
Covered in the snow.

Inside, the fireplace crackles
The faint smell of cookies in the air.
Steaming mugs of hot chocolate.

Furry and warm,
Biscuit comes up barking softly, touching his wet nose
Ready to snuggle.
Hug your dear friend.

Tea.
Coffee.
Hot Chocolate.

Sofa.
Blankets.
Family.

Watch a movie.
Read a book.
Laugh.
The fire gently warms your toes.
Calm and quiet.

Snuggle in.
Warm.
Cozy.

Let out a deep sigh,
Burry in the blankets.
Grab your favorite book.

Perfect.

A perfect, cozy, winter night.

Weekly for SWC! <3 2607 words! :0
Part 1 (367 words):
Song: Jump then Fall
“Nikki! Come back!” Jade rushes forward, tripping over her feet.
Tears are streaming down Anika's face and into her long red hair. “I can't,” she choked “I have to go.”
“No! No, you can't! Nikki, I don't care if you got that letter or not- you are not going. You need to be with me and Mother, here. I'm seven years older than you, so I get to decide. We need to take care of Mom.” Jade grabbed Anika's arm.
“No!” Anika wrenched free. "Think, Jade. A world of magic. Just think- you could wave a wand and boom you get help. Or water. Or a car. Or maybe even a new sketchbook-“
”And what, may I ask, is your point?“ Jade crossed her arms.
Anika couldn't believe it. ”Jade, don't you get it? I could use magic to make Mother better! Jade, think. What if she ends up like Haley?“
With that, Anika began running again. She didn't want to think about Haley. She also couldn't believe she was silly enough to tell her sister about the envelope. ”See you later, sis. Take care of Mother.“
”No!“ Jade began running after her, but Anika was faster. As she ran, she pulled a golden envelope out of the pocket of her dress and looked at it.
'You have been chosen. Report to Mrs. Lillianna Gometz on the first of April. If you do not have a wand yet, we will provide one for you until you get one. Best of wishes. And remember, to get to our world, you must jump off the famous cliff of Foggaronda, wishing as hard as you can to get to our world. Then head east. Good luck.' after reading, Anika turned and started toward the famous cliff nearby.
When she got there, she hesitated. Looking off the cliff, all she saw was fog.
Jade burst out of the trees. ”No!“ she shouted when she saw what Anika was about to do. ”You'll kill yourself.“
”Likely,“ Anika said, a new type of anger flooding through her. ”If I don't wish hard enough, I'm guessing.“
”No!“
”Yes!" and with that, Anika jumped.
And fell into the fog.
-
Part 2 (201 words):

Name: Anika (Nikki)
Pronouns: She/her
Species: Human
Strengths: loyal, independent, helpful, clever, trustworthy, headstrong
Weaknesses: teamwork, stubborn, worrier,
Tendencies: If anybody is in danger, she will not do anything but try to help in any way. Also, if anybody tells her no, she is certain to ignore them (especially if it interferes with her plans, and she always has a plan). She is never reliant on other people. Also, if anybody tells her a secret, she will most certainly keep it a secret. Believes innocent till proven guilty, but won't trust anyone till certain they are on the same side. Will never give up.

Appearance:
Hair: Dark red, wavy, extremely tangled
Eye color: Brown
Hight: 4' 11"
Age: 13 years

Family:
-Father (died when Anika was a month old)
-Mother (currently sick)
-Jade (sister, 7 years older, extremely bossy)
-Haley (died 2 years earlier, 5 years older, magic)
No other family they know of.

Backstory:
13 years of living with her mother and sister(s) in a cottage on the edge of a forest, before she finds a magical world. Knows how to grow crops and ride horses (at least a little) and fend for herself.

-
Part 3 (836 words):
Scene 1. (303 words)
Anika carried a wooden bucket of water inside their cabin. She shuffled over and found a glass, filled it, and helped her mother drink.
Her mom has been lying in bed for days. Weeks. Sick. The last time 13 year old Anika felt so heartbroken was two years ago. At least she didn't have to feel it for her father, too, for he was gone when she was a month old.
Jade was nowhere to be found, so Anika cried onto her mother's still shoulder. And cried. And cried.
When she finally got up, Anika pondered about her long-lost sister.
Haley was kind and fun, with auburn hair and a tinkling laugh. Even though she was three years older than her, Anika's second sister treated them like equals. She wasn't just a sibling, but a friend.
She was better than bossy Jade, anyway.
But most mysterious about Haley was that she had a secret.
I know a place, she would say. I know a truly wonderful place that you would love, Anika.
That was another thing. Everybody called her ‘Nikki’ except for Haley.
When Anika headed outside and placed a hand on Haley's grave, she noticed something golden sticking out of their tattered red mailbox.
But they had never had any mail- no bills (they lived in a tiny cottage one the edge of a remote forest, and it was doubtful anybody knew they were there), no letters (no other family), nothing whatsoever.
But there it was, a golden envelope.
Anika crossed over, opened it, and read.
I've got to show this to Jade, she thought. She is the only person I can consult with right now.
But it turned out Jade, who was picking berries in the forest, wasn't so keen on the idea.

Scene 2. (265 words)
“How are you doing that?” Anika stared at Haley's painting, then at her own. She carefully tried to make her blob look like a flower, but instead made it worse.
Haley laughed. “Practice, I guess.” She admired her painting, which resembled a large, grand building surrounded by young people and flowers (which each looked so much better than Anika's).
Painting had always been Haley's talent.
Anika said “It's beautiful. But what is it? A castle? A mansion?”
Haley hesitated. “Well, it was supposed to be…. A school.”
"A school? Anika said, awed. “Well, it's quite grand for a school.”
“Yes, it is, I guess,” Haley laughed.
“The people look kind of sad though.”
Haley frowned for the tiniest bit and said “I guess they are.” Then she changed the subject almost too quickly. “Now let's see yours. Is it… a crocodile?”

Anika remembered this day quite well. She missed it so much.
She hoped beyond hope that her beautiful, kind, mother wouldn't end like Haley.
Anika pulled out her sketchbook. Even if she couldn't paint, she could draw. And write- at least a little (she had only two years of school before money problems came and they had to move to where they were now). She had several sketchbooks all filled to brim with stories and drawings. She flipped open her current one, which was already full, but she was using the back of the pages too; she didn't have another sketchbook. She also didn't have much time. Most of it was consumed helping her mother. Who was, sadly, not getting any better.

Scene 3. (250 words)
Anika sat beside her mother, in the wooden chair next to the feather bed she rested on for so many days.
It was like history had repeated itself. First Haley, and now her mother.
Though not in the same way. For Haley, it was so quick. One day, she was fine. The next she was gone. And another mysterious thing: the doctor didn't know what type of decease she had.
For their mother… she had fever, and had been in bed for days, slowly rotting away.
If I could wish for anything, Anika always thought, I would wish for Mother to get better.
Of course, she could wish for Haley to come back, but she didn't think it worked that way.
Anika, sitting by her still mother, thought. She tried to recall the days before Haley left.
It was a good year. Anika thought. The crops were good, and we had plenty to eat. Everybody was cheerful. But, Anika realized. Haley was getting more stressed by the day. Then, one day, she stayed in bed, not feeling well, and…. Well, something was wrong. Anika thought. Something was definitely up, before she died.

Now that she had gotten the letter, Anika was certain Haley knew about this, this… place, whatever it was. She was sure of it.
And that is why she wanted, more than anything else, to learn why it was so important to her sister.

Part 4: (1166 words)
When she awoke, the first thing she did was check herself. No scrapes or bruises or cuts whatsoever (which was odd because it must have been several miles off the cliff). The next thing she did was check her surroundings.
It wasn't the least bit foggy down there. It looked like a forest, with trees and leaves everywhere, but didn't feel like one. It was too… quiet. Usually there were sounds of birds chirping and leaves falling and animals roaming and exciting new plants and smells. Not here. It was too… still.
Dazed, Anika began to explore. The letter said to head east, but she had no idea which direction that was in.
Gradually though, Anika began to hear sounds.
At first she thought it was the whispering of leaves, but as she progressed forward they sort of turned more into a roar. Of something.
Anika ran. And ran. Before long, the rumbling stopped, but Anika was totally lost. I'm sure I've seen that stump before she thought. I'll never get my way out. Jade was right.
Just when Anika was thinking of giving up and setting camp for the night, she bumped into something in the dark.
“Ouch!” said two voices at the same time. One was Anika, but who was the other?
“Hello?” Anika said tentatively. “Who are you?”
A person emerged from the shadows. She was about Anika's age. She had long, black hair and amber eyes. What she was wearing was extremely odd- a long, black sort of cloak-thing, and was carrying a black stick. She blended perfectly with the shadows.
“What are you doing in the Dark Forests? It's dangerous out here.”
“Well,” Anika said, feeling annoyed. "I was trying to… head east, I guess.“
”Then follow me!“ The woman led her through the shadows for a while. Finally, they started to see sunlight.
”I, er, have to report to… uh…“ Anika pulled out the envelope. ”Lillianna Gometz.“
The woman laughed. ”I am she. Let's see… were you chosen?“
”Umm… yes? I think so.“
”Ahh, you're late. No matter.“ Lillianna Gometz looked over Anika. ”Huh. You look just like her…."
Huh? Anika thought. Look just like who?
“Anyway,” Mrs. Gometz continued. “You can call me Lilly. I'll be teaching you.”
Hoe funny! Anika thought, annoyed. She's as old as I am!
Anika said so.
“Ahh, but I'm more talented at magic than you, aren't I? So I will be teaching you.” Lilly twirled her black stick around and around.
Anika felt more annoyed than ever, but said nothing- she was eager to start learning magic.
“Come.” Lilly started off to a large building.
Anika stopped in her tracks. A large, grand building surrounded by some young people (also wearing cloak-things) and flowers, stood before her. “What is that building?” she breathed. It is the same one in Haley's painting! she thought excitedly.
Lilly gave her a withering look. “You don't know what the school is? This is where people learn magic, uhh…”
“Nikki.” Anika said. She didn't trust Lilly to know her full name.
“Yes, Nikki. Now, we'll start learning tomorrow- it's getting dark. I'll lead you to your room.”

That night, Anika slept on a feather bed in a room in the school. It was better than camping out in the creepy woods at night. But she couldn't sleep. She was thinking about Lilly, and the Dark Forests, magic, and her mother. She was just about to drift off to sleep when she heard talking outside her bedroom. It sounded important, so Anika got up and tiptoed to the door.
“You can't deny it!” It sounded like Lilly. “Nikki looks just like her!”
“Come on, Lillianna. What are the chances?” Another voice came through.
“They could be related. Who knows?” Lilly's voice sounded angry. “She is still on the run, and could be dead by now!”
“She's not.” The other voice was firm. “She has magic beyond anything else, except maybe the Witch herself. And you know the Witch would immediately start celebrating- that is, killing- if she was dead.”
“Maybe. But the war is over! What if the Witch is dead?” Lilly said.
“Then she would come back to us.”
“What if they are both dead?”
“They aren't, Lilly, and you know it. And the war isn't over either. The Witch could strike at any time. We still need to be prepared.” The voice was hard, as if he himself did not want to believe it.
The voices moved away down the hall.
Anika's mind was whirring from the new info she received. What war? What Witch? Who were they talking about? The person she looked like?
Anika needed to clear her head.
She opened the door a crack, and saw no one there, so she headed down the hall and outside.
Sitting beneath a tree in the cool night air helped Anika clear her head. When she finally calmed down, she began to wonder about the things she heard.
I wonder what they meant by a war. Was it with whoever the ‘Witch’ is? I'll definitely try to figure out in the morning. Anika almost dozed of there, but a loud clomping woke her.
Someone was coming!
The gates opened and a brown horse came riding through. The horse's rider was wearing armor and a helmet with a blue feather. A heavy visor covered his face. The knight expertly guided his horse down the walkway.
As if he could sense someone was watching him, the knight looked around him nervously.
When his eyes landed on Anika, he froze and almost slid off his horse.
“Hello?” Anika said tentatively.
“Hello,” the knight said gruffly. “You're a student? Shouldn't you be in bed?”
“Yes,” Anika said nervously. “I was just going.”
The knight nodded. “Are you staying in the school?”
Anika nodded.
The knight gave a curt nod back. “I should tell the teachers you were out here.”
“Oh, no,” Anika pleaded. “I don't want them to know. I might have… heard something I wasn't supposed to.”
The knight smiled. Or at least Anika thought he did. It was hard to tell with the visor.
“Okay. Good night.”
“Good night.” Anika said, relived.
She ran up the walkway and entered the building, ran down the hall, and buried her self in the blankets.
One story up, Lilly was sitting by the window, looking out over the front gates.
At first she thought the night was one of then looking for the Witch (there were several of them doing that). But when she saw how nervous the night was, she thought slightly otherwise. And when she saw the knight stop when he saw the young girl named Nikki, and talk to her, and let her go back to bed, Lilly was certain she had found her.
But the knight might know who Lilly was too.
She had to strike before the knight did.

Yayayayayayayay it's doneeeee
Hope you enjoyed

Daily! 547 words lol

As the leaves were dropping,
The sun was rising,
The pie was baking,
And she planted the seeds.

Dark days behind,
Hopes- new future- awaken.
A tiny green smudge against the darkness,
New friendship starts to grow.

As the leaves continue falling,
The sun setting,
The smudge becomes a stalk.
And hope starts to bud.

The dark clouds slowly open,
Allowing sunlight to pass,
Shining onto the green
Against the darkness.

As the leaves start crunching,
The rays of hope are spreading,
A mug of tea, steaming,
She helped the green grow.

The fog lifts
Soil and earth
Green.
She holds on to that hope.

As the leaves begin drifting
The stars glimmering
The stalk inches higher, bit by bit,
And so does her hope.

Then the leaves sigh
And the wind blows around her face
The green stands tall, firm in the wind,
And so does she.

As the leaves start slowly dying
The wind crying
The storm blowing
She holds onto the green- the friendship, the hope.

The storm passes
The weather flourishes
The stalk didn't dare to whither
So neither did she.

As the wind blows
The cat snoozes
The pie blackens,
She stands tall.

The small bud of hope
The leaf of friendship
It grows.
As it always should grow.

As the glimmer of green out of the brown
Starts to bud
An everlasting joy-
The green stalk is growing

Then the leaves vanish,
A flurry of frost
Though not of vain
Pure beauty- snow falling.

As the snow is falling,
The fireplace crackling
The wind whispering,
A blanket of pure white surrounds her.

The sky turns bright and blue,
The young stalk, tall and proud
The crickets chirping,
And waves of sunlight spread.

As the snow fades,
The days lengthen,
The world is green.
And her stalk is now a flower.

The flower is bright and cheery.
Friendship and hope paid off-
She has hope and a friend.
She feels… joy.

The dark days are behind.
It is a time of hope, and wonder.
The darkness gone-
The green thrives.

But it is not over.
When it starts, it continues.
Only if you let it,
It stops.

She wouldn't let it stop.
It grew, even more.
What was already green became greener-
She continued to have hope.

Even though the dark days are behind,
Don't forget hope.
Don't forget thanks, because then the darkness will return.
And don't forget love.

Even though. she could've walked away,
The flower having given her joy,
She stayed.
She cared.

She had hope.
And it grew,
More than she thought it would.
Because she didn't give up.

The smudge,
Became a stalk,
Which became a bud
Which became a flower.

An ultimate joy,
All thanks to her.
She had hope-
Which made the green grow.

If she hadn't…
The darkness,
The helplessness, the fear
It would all come back.

So she planted-
Seeds of hope- each one a hope for something better-
Year after year,
Her garden grew bigger.

Her garden of hope,
Of friendship
Of love
Of happiness.

Every seed, guarded with care,
It thrives.
She is more than joyful.
She is free.

Always have hope.

Word War with @lunar-x-celestiial 256 words

Juli woke, dazed. “Where am I?” she said out loud.
“Fruit World,” said a voice from behind her. “Lucky you didn't go through Monster World or Nightmare World. Did you take the portal?”
Juli nodded. Then she got a good look at the person.
Juli stumbled backwards. "Why, you're a mango!
”Indeed I am,“ the mango sounded a bit annoyed. ”Now, we can't leave you lying here, can we? Follow me.“
So Juli followed the kindly mango through the streets. Everywhere she looked, she saw fruits- apples and oranges and bananas and blueberries- there were too many to count.
”So, what's your name?“ Juli asked the mango.
”You can call me Mango. All mangos are named Mango. Like all oranges are name Orange. And all grapes are named Grape. Though one time I did meet a grape called Juice. Nice guy.“
”Umm… okay." Juli stared around at the Fruit World. All the fruits seemed as curious of her as she was of them.
The last thing I ever expected she thought. Was to meet a mango, nonetheless other fruits
“Uh oh,” Mango said. “There's Kiwi over there. He's as tangy as he looks.”
While Juli was trying to look for the kiwi, she bumped into one. “Oops, sorry.”
“Mango!” the kiwi boomed. “Nice to see you, old friend!”
Mango embraced him. “You too!”
Juli was confused. “You said Kiwi was mean.”
“Oh yes, Kiwi is mean. But this my old friend, Kiwi.”
Now Juli was getting very confused

Word War with @reallybigwords
Jen ran. And ran. Sweat dripped of her nose but she didn't care to wipe it. She just ran, ran from the gate.
When she finally stopped, Jen cried. And cried. And cried.
Oh, what had they done to Samuel? she thought. How dare they take a innocent young boy for no reason? How dare they?
Jen finally got up, dried her tears, and was about to run again, just run, from the injustice, when she realized something.
Samuel needed help. She didn't want to run away; she wanted to run towards. She was the only person right now who could save them.
So Jen got up, braced herself, and ran the opposite way.Trembling with fear, Jen approached the gates. At least she knew what to do, unlike last time.
“Open!” Jen commanded the gates. Several metal statues came to life.
“To enter,” they said in their creepy voices. “You must solve this riddle. If you don't on the first try, you will meet your doom. Here it is: ‘I run, but do not walk. I have a bed, but do not sleep. I have a mouth, but do not eat. And I have a bank, with no money. What am I?’”
Jen was doomed. How? thought wildly. This is a different riddle! Jen focused on the riddle.
“Is it…” she hesitated. “A river?”
The statues slowly walked out of the way, clearing a path. Jen felt a rush of

Word war - 290 words
“Erin,” I called. “Don't go wandering around.”
Erin's five year old face frowned. “I'm not, Juli. I'm looking at the birds. You're bossy.”
I sighed. The world was a dangerous place, though five year old sisters don't really understand that. Ever since our parents d!ed, I felt like I had to care for little Erin more than ever. Make sure no more blo0d was ever involved.
“Ooh, look at that pretty robin flying around.” Erin flapped her arms, as if she wanted to fly too. Then, as fast as her 5 year old legs could carry her, Erin ran underneath the bird while it soared above her.
The robin looked down and seemed to smile. It zoomed across the next street.
That's when I saw it. Veering around the corner.
A car.
Zooming down the road.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Except…
My parents d!ed in a car crash.
Erin dashed across the street, intent only on looking at that pretty robin on the other side.
The car zoomed down the street… I was frozen….
Suddenly, the robin flew up and went right in front of the windsheild. The car skidded into a brake, feet away from my sister.
Scooping her up, I ran inside our house (the one my parents had left for us) and breathed heavily.
When I opened the door, finally, the robin was waiting for me. She cocked her head as if to say Aren't you going to thank me?
“Yes!” I told her. “Yes, thank you so much!”
The robin seemed to bow. Then, suddenly, she started spinning. Golden light flashed. The legs grew longer, the head bigger…
And standing there was a young girl wearing pretty red robes

Weekly #2 for SWC! 1718 words <3
Part 1 (474 words):
Lucy: Hello, Erin. What brings you here?
Erin (curtly): Greetings, Lucy. You know why I'm here.
Lucy (gulp): Yes, I do. You will do anything to snoop in other people's way, huh?
Erin (grinning slyly): Really, Lucy, is that a way to greet an old friend?
Lucy (smiling): Nope! It's not; you should really work on that.
Erin: And you should work more on friendship, Lucy Snowdrop.
Lucy: It's not my fault you ditched me.
Erin: I so did not. You just found Juli and then ditched me.
Lucy (sighing): I'm sorry you feel that way. Me and Juli just… found something.
Erin: And you didn't bother to share the ‘something’ with me, huh?
Lucy: I'm sorry Erin. We couldn't. Then…
Erin crosses her arms.
Lucy: But maybe we could… now…
Erin (curious): What do you mean?
Lucy (lowering her voice): Erin, the thing we found… it wasn't a thing. It was a secret. And a not very good one, at that.
Erin leaned closer.
Lucy (very softly): Erin… magic is real! And…
Erin smiles at first. But then the smile slowly slips away.
Erin: Yes?
Lucy: And… it's not exactly good magic.
Erin (entranced): What do you mean?
Lucy (hesitating): You see, me and Juli found out… but on purpose. We were… chosen. Whoever was before us probably thought that we make a good team. They were wrong. Juli was bossy and selfish; for whatever good deed we did for the world of magic, she would take all the credit. Anyway, we were chosen to be the pair of people to take care of the magic world. They always have two protectors from our world, and two from the magic land. We have met the protectors from the magic world. Anika and Haley were actually born here, but had magic in their blood, so technically were from the magic world. They're really nice. Anyway, there was a war going on and a lot of bad wizards were around. Magic was almost never used for good! But now some good people are trying to learn magic to fight the bad ones.
Erin (breathless): Why are you telling me this?
Lucy (smiling): There are always two protectors from a world, Erin. Juli is gone now. We, er, were friends. We work good together. And there's no turning back now that I've told you all this…
Erin: You want me to take Juli's place. And be friends again.
Lucy: Yes.

Part 2 (292 words):
Hi so I'm just doing a song about SWC- is that okay? Sorry my part 1 wasn't very humorous lol <3

Waiting for SWC:

I can't wait for SWC
For November to begin.
I want to do the daily
To walk down to the main cabin again.

I can't wait for the dailies
And weeklies (if I get them done)
I can't wait for cabin wars
And lots and lots of fun.

(chorus)
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
When I get my writing done.

I can't wait for critiquitaire
Or a word war
I can't wait for cabin mates
And mango juice to pour.

I can't wait for the sign-ups
To come out.
I can't wait for mangos
'Cause that's what it's about.

(chorus)
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
When I have lots of fun.

I can't wait for the writing competition
And I can't wait to win ^^
I can't wait to write
A light in the din.

I can't wait for my cabin
Or the writing magic.
I can't wait for matching pfps
(They make me go ballistic)

(chorus)
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
When I get inspiration.

I can't wait for adding words
Or a cabin war
Or the mangos;
I always want more.

I can't wait to get inspired.
Or make new friends.
Or the daily team
The fun never ends.

(chorus)
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
I can't wait for SWC
When I eat mangos.

I can't wait for writing
Far into the night
I can't wait for typing
With all my might.

I can't wait for November
So my heart will be mended.
I can't wait for next session
Though July just ended.

Part 3 (761 words):
Violet's typical day(s) at SWC:
Violet dashed to the main cabin, eager to add points to adventure from the daily. She saw another silhouette racing in the darkness. Catching up, Violet saw Silvi (a Steampunk camper), Violet's good friend from past SWC sessions.
“Silvi! Hi!” Violet said, out of breath as she caught up.
“Hi Violet!” she grinned. “I'm guessing, you came because the new daily starts in…” Silvi checked her watch. “Three minutes!”
“Um, yes,” Violet giggled. “Though I'm also going to claim 400 points for Adventure from this daily…”
Silvi laughed. “Why do you do everything last-minute?” she teased.
Violet laughed too, before realizing that someone else had appeared from the shadows.
“Faith! It's so good to see you!” Violet smiled. "Okay, come on, you're both in Steampunk? I feel betrayed…“
The three friends laughed. ”Maybe you could join us over here.“ Silvi teased. ”Steampunk for the win!“
”No, maybe you guys should join us at Adventure Island.“ Violet grinned. ”We have mangos!“
I would tell you what happened next, but the three friends were in a mango trance. Let's just skip to the part where they snapped out of it when they heard chaotic yelling from inside.
”Let's go check it out.“ Faith said, running for the door.
Violet stepped into the main cabin, only to have a shoe fly by her ear. She quickly located Alia and CJ, her leaders from Adventure.
”It's Chaos Never Dies Day!“ Alia calls, already knowing what Violet was going to ask. And indeed it was; everybody was throwing things and yelling. Violet checked the daily, but it read ‘A shoe flies past your ear…’ and ‘It’s Chaos Never Dies Day!' Violet wondered how that could possibly be true until she saw Moonsy throwing shoes at everybody coming in.
Violet quickly got excited because she loves chaos probably more than anything in the world (except writing, reading, and mangos). She quickly located Lily, a friend from the former session, when they both were in Adventure. Now Lily was in Steampunk. Like everybody else.
Lily is singing with Lilac and Skye, two amazing campers Violet had met this session.
Lilac sings in a high-pitched, singsong, very bad singing voice, ”Chaos rules supreme! Chaos rules supreme! I feel CHAOTIC!“
Skye joined her in screaming about how amazing chaos is. ”CHAOS IS THE BEST!“ She threw confetti all over the ground of the main cabin. ”I LOVE CHAOS!!!!!“
Lily yelled ”CHAOSSSSSS- oh hi!“ before tossing mango plushies everywhere.
Somewhat confused, Lilac ran forward and caught one in her mouth.
Violet now joins the fun. ”CHAOS!!!“ she screams. ”I LOVE CHAOS!“ Violet find a shoe Moonlit threw and throws it back at her. Then she grabs a mango from her sack (see above) and yells ”CHAOS!!!“ She is about to throw the mango when she decides better and eats it instead.
Lily grins at Violet, munching on one of her one mangoes. ”ROLEPLAY DAY CHAOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS CABIN.“
”YESSSSSSS“ Violet smiles. ”I LOVE CHAOS!“
And it went on for the rest of the day. Chaos, eating mangos, laughing, and eating more mangos was the perfect way for Violet to spend her afternoon.
The next day, all fueled up, Violet ran over to the main cabin to find a banner displaying the words ”CABIN WARS".
Excited, Violet set a war on Sci-fi before dashing over Adventure Island to help her cabin with cabin wars. Luckily, Adventure did not lose a single war! And Violet wrote a lot.
After adding it all to her word counts, Violet jogs over to see some friends.
Meeting up with Faith at the main cabin, Violet word warred her and won (so another 125 points to Adventure!).
Later, Violet met up with Sunny and Rockie, two of her very best friends, in the former Adventure cabin from July. They had fun remembering their memories from last session when they were all in that cabin, and yakking friendly competition talk- they currently were in different cabins; Dystopian (Sunny) and leading Myth (Rockie).
Meeting up with Faith again, Violet started writing their novel collab- or not. Faith and Violet laughed hysterically, because nobody wanted to go next.
After the “You go!” and “No, you go!” was over, Violet headed back to her cabin, thinking she should probably sleep, but she still had to do the last part of her weekly. So she started writing.
30 minutes later, it was done (yes i know, but she had to go for dinner!).
And you have just finished reading it right now.

Heehee I hope you liked it <3

Peach stared out the window, oblivious to the fact that Daisy needed help with the dishes.
What had just happened minutes before was shocking. Frightening. Sad. Of course, it was slightly Peach's fault; at the oldest, she had a natural tendency to boss her sisters around, especially for the last few years, since their parents died.
Still, Daisy and Rose had needed directing, right? They were way to heartbroken about their parent's deaths, it made Peach feel like she couldn't be sad herself. Besides, they were almost adults now (Peach was 19, Rose was 18 and a half, and Daisy was 17), so they were tougher than little kids, right?
Anyway, Rose had become a bit annoyed with all that the last few days. I guess being the middle child isn't so easy either. The point is, Rose was tired of their little cottage, tired of Peach's endless prodding about this and that, tired of not being able to go out and explore the world (and maybe boys), and tired of being bossed around when in reality she was only six months younger than Peach.
So she left.
Tears were streaming down her face. She had packed a bag which was slung over her shoulder. As she opened the front door, she turned to Peach and Daisy.
“I can't stay here anymore,” she choked. “I can't and I know it. I'm tired of your being six months over me, Peach. And Daisy, you always insisted you could do it yourself? Now you can.”
“No!” Peach cried. “You can't leave, Rose. We need you.” Tears were falling down her face too.
Rose whirled around to face her. "Well, now you can have more time with Mario if you wish-“ Peach's insides squeezed at Mario's name. ”I'm not going for a plumber, though. You wait. I want to start a life, too, sis.“
At first Peach thought she was trying to be sweet, but Rose looked daggers at her when she tried to get too close.
And with that, Rose opened the door and stalked away.
”WAIT!“ Peach called desperately. ”Rosalina, come back!"
Rose ran down the sidewalk and out of sight.

Once there was a farm up in Minnisota, called Snowcrow Farm, owned by a man named Mr. Hanks. (It used to be called Hank's Farm, and you'll find out more about that). Mr. Hanks planted seeds for beets and carrots, tomatoes and cabbage. The nearby villagers loved it. So did the crows.
“Go away, you nasty birds!” the farmer would shout. “Get out! Yeah, that's right! Stop eating my seeds.”
So, last year, the farmer installed a scarecrow. That did the trick. Or not- the Hank children adored the scarecrow and played around it- and stepped on Mr. Hank's plants- all day.
Of course, when winter came, the snow came over everything and the scarecrow always had to be taken down. The children were heartbroken that winter.
“We want to play with Mr. Scarecrow.” Polly would whine.
“Yeah, we want to play with Mr. Scarecrow!” Toby always repeated everything Polly said.
“It's no fun in the snow.” Susie would sigh.
Then Larry, the oldest (at six years old), would say “Stop complaining! I think we should play something, like Mr. Scarecrow.”
"You are whining too! And we can't play with Mr. Scarecrow.“ Polly would grumble.
”Yeah, we can't.“ Toby repeated.
”Now, now, children.“ Mrs. Hanks said. ”Stop you're whining. Go play in the snow.“ Mrs. Hanks pushed them outside.
”Now what do we do?“ Susie sighed.
”I want Mr. Scarecrow back.“ Larry grumbled.
”All the snow wold get on him!“ Toby said.
”Hey,“ Polly said, a grin growing on her face. ”We can make another scarecrow. Out of snow, so that if snow falls on him it's okay.“
The others were confused. Even Toby didn't bother to repeat what she said.
”You want to…“ Larry said slowly. ”Make a snowman?
”Well… yes, I suppose so.“ Polly shrugged. ”One we can play with, like we did with Mr. Scarecrow.“
Everybody was silent for a minute before Susie said ”Yes! I like it. Let's get to work!“
An hour later, the snowman was done.
He had a black hat.
A carrot for a nose.
Buttons on his white ”coat“.
Stick arms.
Blueberry eyes.
And a pebble-y smile.
And at the last minute Toby found some reeds and made a mustache.
”He looks…. Great!“ Poppy said happily.
”Great!“ Toby echoed.
”Let's name him ‘Mr. Snowman’“ Larry grinned.
The children adored Mr. Snowman. For the winter, they played and talked and laughed with. him. He was their friend.
But when spring came and winter ended, they were sad once again.
Until Susie realized ”Hey! Mr. Scarecrow can come back now!"
And so, the four highly imaginative children welcomed their scarecrow friend back.
But Mr. Scarecrow wasn't happy. He new about Mr. Snowman, and he wasn't pleased his beloved children had made a new friend. It was funny, because Mr. Snowman was thinking the same thing when he was melting: Oh, my, spring has come, and my children will take out that hideous hay monster again to play with. I will be forgotten.
But Mr. Snowman wasn't exactly forgotten. Through the year, the children played with Mr. Scarecrow. But when winter fell again, the four children rebuilt Mr. Snowman.
He was thrilled. Mr. Scarecrow was devastated.
And so, the snowman and the scarecrow both thought there should be only one, and one only friend for their children to play with.
“I am snow good at making the children laugh,” the snowman would boast. “I just make my nose fall off.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Mr. Scarecrow would reply. "I keep the crows away from their food. And also, if you stayed, they would only have a friend in the winter.“
”They would look forward to it." Mr. Snowman responded icily.
But in the end, both agreed they should both stay.
Author's Note:
This is a ramble I just did and decided to use it for cabin wars. It also makes a good bedtime story for my younger brother.

Have you ever wanted to have fun while listening to the teacher talking endlessly in math class? English class? History?
Well then, we have the perfect thing for you!
Introducing… the amazing 800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes! Made by the Amazing 800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes CompanyTM! Buy now at your local store!
I know you're asking “What does the ‘800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes’ do?” Good question! First of all, it's kinda a hassle for us to always say ‘800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes’ every time, so now we are going to refer to it as the DMGFYMAAOC (it stands for 'Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes').
Anyway, the DMGFYMAAOC is a type of glasses that looks just like eye glasses (because they are eye glasses!). And while your math (and all other) teachers are talking, talking, talking away about fractions and decimals and percents and calculus and trig and blah blah blah, through your glasses you can watch a movie. The glasses are covered with a highly ingenious type of screen that is see-through. The circuits are inside the frames. From your side, you watch a movie. From the teacher's side, well, they just see through the lens into your eye (which seems to be staring them, when really you are watching Toy Story. Actually, Toy Story is not available on the glasses. Neither is any other movie, except for amazing videos advertising the DMGFYMAAOC and the Amazing 800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes CompanyTM).
If you're not convinced, here is a list of reasons why you should buy the DMGFYMAAOC:
- No more being bored in math (and all other) classes!*
- Can watch movies every day!
- No one will know! They just see through the lens!**
- The Amazing 800 Deluxe Movie Glasses For Your Math (And All Other) Classes CompanyTM will get money!
- Cheap! Only 50,000,000,000 dollars a month for rental and 90,000,000,000,000,000,000,001,000 to buy! You can get it with your allowance money!***
- Easily battery-chargeable!****
- MOVIES!!!!!*****
Buy the DMGFYMAAOC anywhere! A toy store! A hardware store! A rubbish store! A grocery store! Buy! Buy, buy, buy!

*Of course, that also means no more homework! Because if you don't listen to your teacher, you won't know the material and will fail on the homework anyway- no point in doing it!
**As we mentioned before, the lens are see through because the circuits are in the glasses frames, so there might be a constant buzzing in your ear from them.
***You might have to ask your parents for a raise, but it's worth it!
****Might take about 13 weeks to charge at a time (usually more), but then it will run for about 7 minutes (usually less)
*****Not all movies might be available, but the best part is the surprise! The glasses randomly chose a movie for you to watch! Not getting to choose is the best part!

Author's Note:
Hi! So as you can see, the DMGFYMAAOC is very silly and made-up (it does not even work- did you see how long it takes to charge? Also, the only movies on there are advertisement videos about the DMGFYMAAOC) So, I sent out this notice: DO NOT BUY THE DMGFYMAAOC!!!!
Thank you for reading.
