Change the Scratch Domain
No support. If it doesn't need to be changed, why change it? Also, removing the .edu domain would basically make it instantly blocked in hundreds of schools.

Change the Scratch Domain
Scratch is not part of MIT anymore, so it would make sense to have it changed.

Change the Scratch Domain
No support. The “.edu” part shows that Scratch is an educational website, and changing the domain to something else will just make Scratch look like an unblocked games website or something else

Change the Scratch Domain
Ah yes let’s change the url and break literally every single hyperlinkHyperlinks can be hyper-redirected. HTTP has a built in status code that tells the user client that it's a permanent redirect, that being 308 “Permanent Redirect”. I don't think MIT would be apposed to having a domain that is a glorified redirect domain(that I don't think they even host anymore) so that a popular service doesn't break.
No support. The “.edu” part shows that Scratch is an educational website, and changing the domain to something else will just make Scratch look like an unblocked games website or something elseTotally, every single Top Level Domain ever is just used for unblocked games.
But really, if a school was going to block Scratch, it wouldn't be because they're using Scratch.org(a domain they already own).
No support. If it doesn't need to be changed, why change it? Also, removing the .edu domain would basically make it instantly blocked in hundreds of schools. No??? Most schools don't block all .org or .com domains(at least to my knowledge), just look at sites like Google, it uses a .com domain, and yet there probably a single school that blocks it outright. Plus if they do a full blacklist of all .com and .org sites, then there's no reason for them to also allow .edu domains, since they can host basically the same stuff, but are only owned by universities.

Anyway, I'm probably going to edit the OP to centralize it on Scratch.org. Most of the other domains are kinda silly anyway.

Change the Scratch Domain
.ch exists, it is the top-level domain for Switzerland. Scratch is not Swiss, so it doesn't really make sense for an American educational organization to use it.its called domain hacking
why am I replying to an old post

no support, *.org is automatically blocked on a lot of school networks, while *.edu is almost never blocked.

YouTu.be is not Belgian but here we are..ch exists, it is the top-level domain for Switzerland. Scratch is not Swiss, so it doesn't really make sense for an American educational organization to use it.One, I don't want this to be the URL. It's way too long.More genius idea: scrat.ch
Two, why not use the scratch.org domain? It's shorter, owned by the Scratch Team, and would better fit this.
It's just Scratch but with a genius domain at the end. Not sure if the ch exists tho

YouTu.be is not Belgian but here we are. Some governments allow their top level domains to be sold, even if you aren't a citizen there. An example of this is the Indian Ocean(.io), which has it's top level domain available to be bought and sold, even for people outside of this area of the world. I believe this is the case for .be domains, as on it's Wikipedia article it says that there's no restrictions on registration; this is in opposition to .ch domains, which, as seen on it's Wikipedia article, is only available to Cantons.

Change the Scratch Domain
I agree to changing it to scratch.org, it isn't affiliated with MIT (and hasn't been for quite a bit now) and it is shorter and easier to remember.
With 125,059,216 accounts registered, it's very unlikely schools would block Scratch because most of them use it in their curriculum in the first place. Every school IT safety service has a whitelist which Scratch is probably already on.
No support. The “.edu” part shows that Scratch is an educational website, and changing the domain to something else will just make Scratch look like an unblocked games website or something else
No support. If it doesn't need to be changed, why change it? Also, removing the .edu domain would basically make it instantly blocked in hundreds of schools. The .edu domain is for educational institutions of higher education in the United States. Scratch is not that, it's MIT which has the .edu domain. Plenty of websites, such as google.com, don't use the .edu domain and aren't blocked in schools. If a school blocks everything except .edu then I'm not sure what website's students are going on besides select research hosted on .edu domains.

Ah yes let’s change the url and break literally every single hyperlinkAs the OP says, paths would be appropriately automatically redirected, like scratch.mit.edu/projects/10000 to scratch.org/projects/10000.

Change the Scratch Domain
I don't see a point in doing this right now. I think most people are used to what it is (including myself). I have no clue how easy it is to actually change domains of an entire website the size of Scratch though, so i can't exactly judge this based upon how difficult it would be.

Change the Scratch Domain
We should just change it to Scratch.Edu, because schools are suspicious of .org and may start blocking it.
