I disagree. I agree with you on this subject. Scratch is meant to be for kids to learn how to code. Also, the forums are not widely known by a lot of Scratchers.
So you say that you disagree… and then say that you agree? Which is it?

One point of this would be so you could help kids with projects that they don't want to share to everyone yet. There are other things unrelated to the usual “parental controls” like just tracking how much time is spent working on their own projects vs playing games they found links to.

Speaking of the playing games thing, my younger kid gets VERY easily distracted by the home page with all the “trending” stuff. If he were allowed to then he'd just spend all his time playing games people made and not working on any of his own stuff, which kind of defeats the point.

If they were always using desktop computers I'd just use the offline app version, but they use iPads a lot of the time and there's no offline scratch app for ipad. So I installed a URL blocker on their iPads to keep them from getting distracted by all the games and stuff.

So anyway there are actually quite a few features that parents would like to be able to have, and if there's any serious consideration going into these sort of features I'd be happy to describe them in more detail.

No support. Download Scratch or just use Makecode arcade… I have never heard anyone say that website before and now I hope I didn't say something wrong lol

It was, here (at least for teachers)
Can I turn off the ability for students to see and post comments?
No, you cannot disable the commenting feature for your students in the online Community. You can selectively turn off the ability for others to leave comments on their profiles and each individual project, but there is not a site-wide feature to restrict commenting. If commenting doesn’t feel right for your students, you may want to consider using the Scratch Desktop app which is an offline version of the Scratch project editor that does not include the online community.

No Support as if they don't want the kids to interact with the community then they can just download the offline editor. If they just want the kid to share the project, they can upload all the projects the kids have created.

No support. This is a limited range because it won't include ScratchJR.
Also, kids can use the offline editor instead.

Scratch is also about the community too, not just coding That ruins this idea.

(and forums aren't that bad lol)

Do these posts with 1 year gaps count as necroposting? This is from 2017.

If the post is on-topic, it's not a necropost in Suggestions.

under the Utah law argument we have to contend with this line

the utah state legislator wrote:

may not show the minor's account in search results;

So does that mean scratch has to verify that the creator of a project is either over 18 or not from Utah or else the project is nfe'd

Solution: don’t create an account. Very simple workaround to the offline editor

I'm thinking maybe there could be an app an your parents phone with parental controls with your kid's age like this:
Age 3-4: Can only post, like favorite and view. All comments are hidden. Swearing: None | Blood: None
Age 5-10: Comments can be posted and seen. Swearing: he | Blood: jokes like Sans bleeding ketchup
Age 11-13 Chat rooms using cloud variables can be entered. Swearing: H | Blood: medium
Age 14-17 Forums can be entered. Swearing: same as 11-13 | Blood: medium-rare
Age 18+ EVERYTHING!!! Swearing: S, F | Blood: ALL!!!

Age-Restricted content is Rejected as per tolors

The Official List of Rejected Suggestions wrote:

7.2 A 13+ version of the Scratch website or age-restricted content

Scratch is designed for ages 8 to 16, but any content shared on the website must be appropriate for all ages. Dividing the community by making a separate, age-restricted website would not be helpful. Potential restrictions from entering the website (such as a warning, or requiring a parent to answer math equations) would not necessarily stop an underage child from entering the 13+ website.

This suggestion extends to age-restricting anything on Scratch, such as viewing specific projects or accessing specific Scratch features. As a general rule, Scratch is for all ages, and content shared on the Scratch website should be appropriate for all ages.

I'm not sure if I've posted on this topic before, but:
I believe parental controls are an essential part of keeping platforms that kids use safe.
But, what's better, your safety, or your privacy?

Maybe there should be video recordings of what their kids are doing on Scratch sent to parents. I'm serious.
I know some kid is going to be like:

Me privacy
People’s kids probably shouldn’t be on the internet if they don’t know not to give out their address and phone number
I think videos are way too far. There’s also already softwares people can download to record what their child does.
And how much strain would recording a millions of scratchers put on the servers?
