what's weirder is that clicking the scratch button on the project (which usually brings you to the project page) instead redirects to the splash screen (scratch.mit.edu).

Because it's an embed (scratch.mit.edu/projects/*/embed), and for some reason the Scratch logo link on embeds always takes you to the homepage.

That one is because that's how project urls were formatted during 1.x, so in 2.0 they just made it redirect to scratch.mit.edu/projects/id instead
