Hospital Room - An SWC Co-leader Application

1 - About Me
I’m Iris, or Ris. I don’t mind which you call me. I use she/her pronouns and my timezone is CDT, although this will change to CST on November 6, due to daylight savings. I love all things medical, and I want to be a pediatrician when I’m older. I love theatre and have been in various shows and plays, along with musicals. Most recently I’ve been in devising workshops, where it’s the cast who writes the script. During the last session of SWC, I was in a devising project. I spend my time on Scratch running camps, roleplaying, and just hanging out. Although I’m not a furry, I mainly roleplay in Warrior Cats roleplays. In this application, I’m applying for co-leader, not leader, as I don’t feel too ready to take on being a leader of SWC, even though I have experience being a leader in other Scratch Camps.

I have been in SWC before. July 2022, as a camper of Mythology. But, I do have more expirience than just that.

4- Writing Excerpt
I ran. Far, far away. My cheeks were bright red. I didn’t know what
I had wanted. I don’t know anything.

“Sasha! Wait! I’m sorry, please, come back!” Emilina called after
me from the doorway of her house.

Tears ran down my cheeks. I didn’t want that- or did I? Am I…
no, no. I couldn’t be…? Was I… was I one of them? A le-lesbian?

My parents would never allow that. But I had kissed Emilina. I
had wanted it. Or did I? I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know!
/I/ was the one who initiated the kiss, not Emilina. It was /me/.
We’d been hanging out for a while now, and I guess I just felt
attracted to her after all this time?

I ran to my house, it was only a few houses down from Emilina’s.
I opened the door and slammed it just, vibrations of it ringing
through the walls. I kicked off my shoes and threw off my snow
covered coat and ran upstairs to my room. And I cried.

Tears stormed down my face like a summer downpour of rain. My
emotions were the flood.

If my parents ever knew, they'd kill me. Well, not kill me, but at the
very least, disown me. They're Christian, and so am I. Like, does
my religion even allow this? But nontheless,
I think… I think I'm in love with Emilina. She's always in my
thoughts. I love her. At first I thought as just a friend, but now, hm.

If my parents would disown me, what do I do? Do I follow my
heart or do I follow my parents? I want to be with Emilina- I want
her to be someone I can come home to, I want to come home to a
delicious homemade meal cooked by her, the love of my life, I
want her to be the one I complain about things to. I want her to love
me back.

But first, I need to decide on what I'm going to do.

I wiped my tears away and picked up my phone. I scrolled through
my contacts until I found Emilina's. I shakily pressed the call button
and put my phone up to my ear.

“S-Sasha?” A muffled voice filled my ear.

It was clear that she had been crying.

“Y-yeah, it's me,” I responded, still shaking. “Look, I'm sorry, but
I… I love you Emilina! Oh, I do, I do!”

Silence. Until,

“I do too, Sasha. I'll call you later, kay?” She responded, sounding
like she had a smile on her face while she did.

“Okay. Bye,” I hung up. I flopped down on my bed. Oh boy, what was going to happen now?

5- Time Dedication
I plan to dedicate as much time as I can- as much as I can to help plan and to help run my cabin. I’d say at least an hour a day, most likely more. I don’t have any plans that I know of during October except for a possible Halloween party and Halloween, along with school. The play I was going to be in got cancelled, so I don’t have that to do and no activities either. I’m going on a retreat for a weekend in October with no Wi-Fi and no devices, but that’s the longest break I think I’m taking. I’m also being a part of a few camps too. As for November, all I know of is Thanksgiving.

6- Why I Want to
I want to co-lead to make a difference. I want to make this session one that everyone will remember and know. I want to make this the best session ever. My goal as a (co)leader in any of the camps I am a part of is to make it a good expirience for everyone around me, including my fellow (co)leaders. I want to bring my optimistic, fun attitude as a (co)leader to SWC too. Yes, I can do that as a camper, but I can also do it as a (co)leader too.

A month ago, I didn’t want to be a (co)leader for SWC. I wanted to be a camper, but I was conflicted between my love of (co)leading other camps and my desire to be a camper for SWC. I decided to apply to be a co-leader because the worst that can happen is that I don’t get chosen, but I wouldn’t care or mind to be one! And whether I get chosen or not, it’s a win-win situation for me anyways, as I want to be a camper, but also a co-leader.

7- Why Me
You should choose me because I’m active. I’m responsible. I’m kind. I’m hard-working. I always go the extra mile, and that’s what SWC leaders do. They do whatever they can to go above and beyond. That’s me. That’s who I am. I have all the traits that leaders should have. I make sure to get the job done, I never snap at anyone, I’m online at least an hour a day. I can deliver more than what you want, and I will. So choose me. I’m perfect for this job. I do have my flaws, as we all do, but I am perfect for this. Choose me.

8- Strengths and Weaknesses in Collaboration
I’m a good leader in group discussions. I’ve collaborated on many things- group projects, devising projects and shows, and roleplays. I can also compromise well.

I will be honest and say that I am not good at collaborating with others taking the lead. I prefer to take lead more than follow lead, but I am learning to get better at it. Being a co-leader would help me improve this skill that I will need when I grow up.

9- Opt. Special Things
I’m applying for co-leader, but am answering this question anyways.
I would do matching pfps, as that is a camp tradition, and matching banners. Plus matching forum banners. I’d also do in-cabin currency to have the campers earn this. This stuff would be things like “for 3 *cabin currency*, complete the main cabin daily.
