they used to be higher quality but now they're like really crusty looking and it doesn't look right

We are changing how some images are served up which will free up 48 bare metal processors which is about 1/3rd of the total application processing backend for scratchr2, freeing it up for making the site handle higher throughput (simultaneous visitors) without things failing randomly, like, image resizing…

Are you talking about importing gifs, like as sprites?
Imported images automatically turn into bitmap images, which force the quality to 480x360.
There are likely ways to get around this, but I don't know of any.

Slightly offtopic, but I think I heard from somewhere that .webp files don't have their quality lowered as much

no i am talking about gif pfps and studios, it used to look more polished but now its kinda iffy.

You just have to be patient and wait until they are finished with everything. If they finish. It may be for good
