Dear Mama,
How has life been. I know you might not want to talk with me or be associated with me in an way at all. I know ou are upset about the Fairlight Scandal at the fair. I understand that I have brought great shame to our family's name, but you have only heard one side of the matter. I was at the fair on a normal day hoping I could by some jams and jellies for Ruthie. I miss my little sister ever so much here in college. I was wondering around looking for the stand owned by Marcel Kump. I am one of his best customers and friends, and his deserts are simply amazing. So approaching his stand I saw 1 man by Marcels stand. Marcel wasn’t there, and I caught them stealing from the stand. I cried, “Thief! Thief!” Yet noone did a thing about it; noone cared. I wasn’t about to let my friend get stolen from, so I kicked off my shoes and started running after him. Shoe in and I sneaked up to one of the thieves and hit him hard on the head he was surprised and I kept hitting him. He just pushed me aside and ran away. I landed in the mud and the bystanders were shocked to see a young lady like that. Word got around that the Fairlight girl attacked a random man. Some people now think I am stupid, an imbecile, or mad. Now you know why I did what I did. I want to apologize for disgracing our name, but I had a good reason.
